Psaumes 106
1 Alleluia! Célébrez Yahweh, car il est bon, car sa miséricorde est éternelle.
Praise ye Yah, Give ye thanks to Yahweh—For he is good, For age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
2 Qui dira les hauts faits de Yahweh! Qui publiera toute sa gloire?
Who can relate the mighty deeds of Yahweh? can cause to be heard, all his praise?
3 Heureux ceux qui observent la loi, qui accomplissent la justice en tout temps!
How happy! They who observe justice, He that executeth righteousness at all times.
4 Souviens-toi de moi, Yahweh, dans ta bonté pour ton peuple, visite-moi avec ton secours,
Remember me, O Yahweh, when thou acceptest thy people, Visit me, with thy salvation;
5 afin que je voie le bonheur de tes élus, que je me réjouisse de la joie de ton peuple, et que je me glorifie avec ton héritage.
That I may look upon the welfare of thy chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, That I may glory, with thine inheritance.
6 Nous avons péché comme nos pères, nous avons commis l'iniquité, nous avons fait le mal.
We have sinned—with our fathers, We have acted perversely, we have committed lawlessness;
7 Nos pères en Egypte n'eurent pas d'égard à tes prodiges, ils ne se souvinrent pas de la multitude de tes grâces, ils se sont révoltés à la mer, à la mer Rouge.
Our fathers, in Egypt, understood not thy wonders, They remembered not the abounding of thy lovingkindnesses, but rebelled by the sea—at the Red Sea.
8 Il les sauva pourtant à cause de son nom, pour faire éclater sa puissance.
Yet he saved them, for the sake of his Name, to make known his mighty power;
9 Il menaça la mer Rouge, et elle se dessécha; et il les fit marcher à travers l'abîme comme dans un désert.
So he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up, And he led them through deeps, as pasture-land;
10 Il les sauva de la main de celui qui les haïssait, il les délivra de la main de l'oppresseur.
And saved them from the hand of one full of hatred, And redeemed them out of the hand of the foe;
11 Les flots couvrirent leurs adversaires, pas un seul n'échappa.
So the waters covered their adversaries, Not one from among them, was left.
12 Ils crurent alors à ses paroles, ils chantèrent ses louanges.
They believed therefore in his words, They sang his praise.
13 Mais ils oublièrent bientôt ses œuvres, ils n'attendirent pas qu'il exécutât ses desseins.
Soon forgat they his works, —They waited not for his counsel;
14 Ils furent pris de convoitise dans le désert, et ils tentèrent Dieu dans la solitude.
But lusted a lust in the desert, and tested GOD in the waste.
15 Il leur accorda ce qu'ils demandaient, mais il les frappa de consomption.
So he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.
16 Puis ils furent jaloux de Moïse dans le camp, et d'Aaron, le saint de Yahweh.
And they became jealous of Moses in the camp, —of Aaron the holy one of Yahweh;
17 La terre s'ouvrit et engloutit Dathan, et elle se referma sur la troupe d'Abiron;
The earth opened and engulfed Dathan, and covered up the assembly of Abiram;
18 Le feu dévora leur troupe, la flamme consuma les méchants.
Then was kindled a fire in their assembly, —a flame, consumed the lawless ones.
19 Ils firent un veau au mont Horeb, ils se prosternèrent devant une image de métal fondu;
They made a calf in Horeb, —and bowed down to a molten image;
20 Ils échangèrent leur gloire contre la figure d'un bœuf qui mange l'herbe.
Thus changed they my glory, for the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21 Ils oublièrent Dieu, leur sauveur, qui avait fait de grandes choses en Egypte,
They forgat GOD their saviour, who had done great things in Egypt:
22 des miracles dans le pays de Cham, des prodiges à la mer Rouge.
Wonders in the land of Ham, Terrible things by the Red Sea.
23 Il parlait de les exterminer, si Moïse, son élu, ne se fût tenu sur la brèche devant lui, pour empêcher sa colère de les détruire.
Then would he have bidden to destroy them, —had not Moses his chosen, stood in the breach before him, To turn back his wrath from destroying.
24 Ils dédaignèrent la terre de délices, ils ne crurent pas à la parole de Yahweh;
And they refused the delightful land, They believed not his word;
25 ils murmurèrent dans leurs tentes, et n'obéirent pas à sa voix.
But murmured in their tents, —They hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh.
26 Alors il leva la main contre eux, jurant de les faire périr dans le désert,
So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert;
27 de faire périr leur race parmi les nations, et de les disperser en d'autres contrées.
And would disperse their seed among the nations, and would scatter them throughout the lands.
28 Ils s'attachèrent à Béelphégor et mangèrent des victimes offertes aux morts.
Yet they let themselves be bound to Baal-peor, —and did eat sacrifices to the dead:
29 Ils irritèrent Yahweh par leurs actions, et un fléau fit irruption parmi eux.
So they provoked to anger by their doings, and a plague, made a breach among them.
30 Phinées se leva et donna satisfaction, et le fléau fut arrêté.
Then stood up Phinehas, and interposed, and stayed was the plague:
31 Cette action fut imputée à justice, d'âge en âge, à jamais.
So it was counted unto him, for righteousness, To generation after generation, unto times age abiding.
32 Ils irritèrent Yahweh aux eaux de Mériba, et Moïse eut à souffrir à cause d'eux;
And they provoked by the waters of Meribah, —And it fared ill with Moses, for their sakes;
33 car ils aigrirent son esprit, et il prononça des paroles inconsidérées.
For they embittered his spirit, and he spake rashly with his lips.
34 Ils n'exterminèrent point les peuples que Yahweh leur avait ordonné de détruire.
They destroyed not the peoples of which Yahweh had spoken to them;
35 Ils se mêlèrent aux nations, et ils apprirent leurs œuvres.
But had fellowship with the nations, and learned their doings;
36 Ils servirent leurs idoles, qui furent pour eux un piège.
Yea they served their idols, and they became to them a snare:
37 Ils immolèrent leurs fils et leurs filles aux démons.
Yea they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to mischievous demons;
38 Ils versèrent le sang innocent, le sang de leurs fils et de leurs filles, qu'ils sacrifiaient aux idoles de Chanaan; et le pays fut profané par des meurtres.
And poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, And the land was polluted with blood-shed;
39 Ils se souillèrent par leurs œuvres, ils se prostituèrent par leurs actions.
And they became unclean by their works, and became unchaste in their doings.
40 La colère de Yahweh s'alluma contre son peuple, et il prit en horreur son héritage.
Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh with his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.
41 Il les livra entre les mains des nations, ceux qui les haïssaient dominèrent sur eux.
So he delivered them up into the hand of the nations, And they who hated them, had dominion over them;
42 Leurs ennemis les opprimèrent, et ils furent humiliés sous leur main.
And their enemies oppressed them, And they were bowed down under their hand.
43 Bien des fois il les délivra, mais ils furent rebelles dans leurs desseins, et se perdirent par leurs iniquités.
Many times, did he rescue them, —But, they, rebelled by their counsel, and sank low in their iniquity.
44 Néanmoins, il regarda leur détresse, lorsqu'il entendit leurs supplications.
Then looked he on the distress which befell them, —when he heard their loud cry;
45 Il se souvint en leur faveur de son alliance, il eut pitié d'eux selon sa grande bonté,
Then remembered he, for them, his covenant, and was moved to pity, according to the abounding of his lovingkindnesses;
46 et il en fit l'objet de ses miséricordes, devant tous ceux qui les tenaient captifs.
And granted them compassion before all their captors.
47 Sauve-nous Yahweh, notre Dieu, et rassemble-nous du milieu des nations, afin que nous célébrions ton saint nom, et que nous mettions notre gloire à te louer.
Save us, O Yahweh our God, and gather us from among the nations, That we may give thanks unto thy holy Name, That we may triumph aloud in thy praise.
48 Béni soit Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël, d'éternité en éternité! Et que tout le peuple dise: Amen! Alleluia!
Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from one age even unto another, And all the people, shall say, Amen! Praise ye Yah!
