Néhémie 7
1 Lorsque la muraille fut rebâtie et que j'eus posé les battants des portes, les portiers, les chantres et les lévites furent chargés de la surveillance.
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 Je donnai autorité sur Jérusalem à Hanani, mon frère, et à Ananie, commandant de la citadelle, car c'était un homme fidèle et craignant Dieu plus que beaucoup d'autres.
That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he [was] a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3 Et je leur dis: " Que les portes de Jérusalem ne soient pas ouvertes avant que soit venue la chaleur du soleil; le soir, pendant que les gardes seront encore à leur poste, on fermera les portes et on mettra les barres; et, pendant la nuit, on établira des gardes pris parmi les habitants de Jérusalem, chacun à son poste, et chacun devant sa maison.
And I said to them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun shall be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar [them]: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one [to be] over against his house.
4 Or la ville était spacieuse et grande, mais il n'y avait que peu d'habitants au milieu d'elle, et toutes les maisons n'étaient pas rebâties.
Now the city [was] large and great: but the people in it [were] few, and the houses [were] not built.
5 Mon Dieu me mit au cœur d'assembler les grands, les magistrats et le peuple, pour en faire le dénombrement. Je trouvai un registre généalogique de ceux qui étaient montés les premiers, et j'y vis écrit ce qui suit:
And my God put into my heart to assemble the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them who came up at the first, and found written in it,
6 Voici les gens de la province qui revinrent de l'exil, — ceux que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, avait emmenés captifs, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville, —
These [are] the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one to his city;
7 qui revinrent avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Azarias, Raamias, Nahamani, Mardochée, Belsan, Mespharath, Bégoaî, Nahum, Baana: Nombre des hommes du peuple d'Israël:
Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, [I say], of the men of the people of Israel [was this];
8 les fils de Pharsos, deux mille cent soixante-douze;
The children of Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy two.
9 les fils de Saphatias, trois cent soixante-douze;
The children of Shephatiah, three hundred and seventy two.
10 les fils d'Aréa, six cent cinquante-deux;
The children of Arah, six hundred and fifty two.
11 les fils de Phahath-Moab, des fils de Josué et de Joab, deux mille huit cent dix-huit;
The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen.
12 les fils d'Elam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty four.
13 les fils de Zethua, huit cent quarante-cinq;
The children of Zattu, eight hundred and forty five.
14 les fils de Zachaï, sept cent soixante;
The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and sixty.
15 les fils de Bannui, six cent quarante-huit;
The children of Binnui, six hundred and forty eight.
16 les fils de Bébaï, six cent vingt-huit;
The children of Bebai, six hundred and twenty eight.
17 les fils d'Azgad, deux mille trois cent vingt-deux;
The children of Azgad, two thousand three hundred and twenty two.
18 les fils d'Adonicam, six cent soixante-sept;
The children of Adonikam, six hundred and sixty seven.
19 les fils de Béguaï, deux mille soixante-sept;
The children of Bigvai, two thousand and sixty seven.
20 les fils d'Adin, six cent cinquante-cinq;
The children of Adin, six hundred and fifty five.
21 les fils d'Ater, fils d'Ezéchias, quatre-vingt-dix-huit;
The children of Ater of Hezekiah, ninety eight.
22 les fils de Hasem, trois cent vingt-huit;
The children of Hashum, three hundred and twenty eight.
23 les fils de Bésaï, trois cent vingt-quatre;
The children of Bezai, three hundred and twenty four.
24 les fils de Hareph, cent douze;
The children of Hariph, a hundred and twelve.
25 les fils de Gabaon, quatre-vingt quinze;
The children of Gibeon, ninety five.
26 les gens de Bethléem et de Nétopha, cent quatre-vingt-huit;
The men of Beth-lehem and Netophah, a hundred and eighty eight.
27 les gens d'Anathoth, cent vingt-huit;
The men of Anathoth, a hundred and twenty eight.
28 les gens de Beth-Azmoth, quarante-deux;
The men of Beth-azmaveth, forty two.
29 les gens de Cariathiarim, de Céphira et de Béroth: sept cent quarante-trois;
The men of Kirjath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty three.
30 les gens de Rama et de Géba, six cent vingt et un;
The men of Ramah and Gaba, six hundred and twenty one.
31 les gens de Machmas, cent vingt deux;
The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty two.
32 les gens de Béthel et de Haï, cent vingt-trois;
The men of Beth-el and Ai, a hundred and twenty three.
33 les gens de l'autre Nébo, cinquante-deux;
The men of the other Nebo, fifty two.
34 les fils de l'autre Elam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty four.
35 les fils de Harem, trois cent vingt;
The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.
36 les fils de Jéricho, trois cent quarante cinq;
The children of Jericho, three hundred and forty five.
37 les fils de Lod, de Hadid et d'Ono, sept cent vingt et un;
The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred and twenty one.
38 les fils de Sénaa, trois mille neuf cent trente.
The children of Senaah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.
39 Prêtres: les fils d'Idaïas, de la maison de Josué, neuf cent soixante-treize;
The priests: the children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred and seventy three.
40 les fils d'Emmer, mille cinquante-deux;
The children of Immer, a thousand and fifty two.
41 les fils de Phashur, mille deux cent quarante-sept;
The children of Pashur, a thousand two hundred and forty seven.
42 les fils d'Arem, mille dix-sept.
The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.
43 Lévites: les fils de Josué et de Cedmiel, des fils d'Oduïas; soixante-quatorze.
The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, [and] of the children of Hodevah, seventy four.
44 Chantres: les fils d'Asaph: cent quarante-huit.
The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred and forty eight.
45 Portiers: les fils de Sellum, les fils d'Ater, les fils de Telmon, les fils d'Accub, les fils de Hatita, les fils de Sobaï; cent trente-huit.
The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred and thirty eight.
46 Nathinéens: les fils de Soha, les fils de Hasupha, les fils de Tebbaoth,
The Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hashupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
47 les fils de Céros, les fils de Siaa, les fils de Phadon,
The children of Keros, the children of Sia, the children of Padon,
48 les fils de Lébana, les fils de Hagaba, les fils de Selmaï,
The children of Lebana, the children of Hagaba, the children of Shalmai,
49 les fils de Hanan, les fils de Géddel, les fils de Gaher,
The children of Hanan, the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar,
50 les fils de Raaïas, les fils de Rasin, les fils de Nécoda,
The children of Reaiah, the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda,
51 les fils de Gézem, les fils d'Aza, les fils de Phaséa,
The children of Gazzam, the children of Uzza, the children of Phaseah,
52 les fils de Bésée, les fils de Munim, les fils de Néphusim,
The children of Besai, the children of Meunim, the children of Nephishesim,
53 les fils de Bacbuc, les fils de Hacupha, les fils de Harhur,
The children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,
54 les fils de Besloth, les fils de Mahida, les fils de Harsa,
The children of Bazlith, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
55 les fils de Bercos, les fils de Sisara, les fils de Théma,
The children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Tamah,
56 les fils de Nasia, les fils de Hatipha.
The children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.
57 Fils des serviteurs de Salomon: les fils de Sothaï, les fils de Sophéreth, les fils de Pharida,
The children of Solomon's servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida,
58 les fils de Jahala, les fils de Darcon, les fils de Jeddel,
The children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
59 les fils de Saphatias, les fils de Hatil, les fils de Phochéreth-Asebaïm, les fils d'Amon.
The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Amon.
60 Total des Nathinéens et des fils des serviteurs de Salomon: trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, [were] three hundred and ninety two.
61 Voici ceux qui partirent de Thel-Mêla, Thel-Harsa, Chérub, Addon et Emmer, et qui ne purent pas faire connaître leur maison paternelle et leur race, pour montrer qu'ils étaient d'Israël:
And these [were] they who went up [also] from Tel-mela, Tel-haresha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their fathers house, nor their seed, whether they [were] of Israel.
62 les fils de Dalaïas, les fils de Tobie, les fils de Nécoda, six cent quarante-deux.
The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and forty two.
63 Et parmi les prêtres: les fils de Habia, les fils d'Accos, les fils de Berzellaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Berzellaï, le Galaadite, et fut appelé de leur nom.
And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, who took [one] of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite for a wife, and was called after their name.
64 Ils cherchèrent leur titre attestant leurs généalogies, mais on ne le trouva point. Ils furent déclarés impurs et exclus du sacerdoce,
These sought their register [among] those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65 et le gouverneur leur interdit de manger des choses très saintes, jusqu'à ce que le prêtre se levât pour consulter Dieu par l'Urim et le Thummim.
And the Tirshatha said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand [up] a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 L'assemblée tout entière était de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante personnes,
The whole congregation together [was] forty two thousand three hundred and sixty.
67 sans compter leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes, qui étaient au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept; parmi eux se trouvaient deux cent quarante cinq chanteurs et chanteuses.
Besides their man-servants and their maid-servants, of whom [there were] seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and they had two hundred and forty five singing-men and singing-women.
68 Ils avaient sept cent trente-six chevaux, deux cent quarante-cinq mulets,
Their horses, seven hundred and thirty six: their mules, two hundred and forty five:
69 quatre cent trente cinq chameaux et six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
[Their] camels, four hundred and thirty five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
70 Plusieurs des chefs de famille firent des dons pour l'œuvre. Le gouverneur donna au trésor mille dariques d'or, cinquante coupes, cinq cent trente tuniques sacerdotales.
And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.
71 Plusieurs des chefs de famille donnèrent au trésor de l'œuvre vingt mille dariques d'or et deux mille deux cents mines d'argent.
And [some] of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work, twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.
72 Ce que le reste du peuple donna fut de vingt mille dariques d'or, deux mille mines d'argent et soixante-sept tuniques sacerdotales.
And [that] which the rest of the people gave [was] twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty seven priests' garments.
73 C'est ainsi que les prêtres et les lévites, les chantres, les portiers, des gens du peuple, les Nathinéens et tout Israël s'établirent dans leurs villes.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel [were] in their cities.
