1 Les Pharisiens et plusieurs Scribes venus de Jérusalem s'assemblèrent auprès de Jésus.
And the Pharisees and certain of the Scribes who have come from Jerusalem gather themselves together unto him;
2 Ayant vu quelques-uns de ses disciples prendre leur repas avec des mains impures, c'est-à-dire non lavées, ils les blâmèrent. —
and, observing certain of his disciples, that, with defiled hands, that is unwashed, they are eating bread, ——
3 Car les Pharisiens et tous les Juifs ne mangent pas sans s'être lavé soigneusement les mains, suivant la tradition des anciens.
For, the Pharisees, and all the Jews, unless with care they wash their hands, eat not, holding fast the tradition of the elders;
4 Et lorsqu'ils reviennent de la place publique ils ne mangent pas sans avoir pratiqué des ablutions. Ils pratiquent encore beaucoup d'autres observances traditionnelles, la purification des coupes, des cruches, des vases d'airain, et des lits. —
and coming from market, unless they sprinkle themselves, they eat not, —and, many other things, there are, which they have accepted to hold fast—immersions of cups and measures and copper vessels——
5 Les Pharisiens et les Scribes lui demandèrent donc: " Pourquoi vos disciples ne suivent-ils pas la tradition des anciens, et prennent-ils leur repas avec des mains impures? "
and so the Pharisees and the Scribes, question, him—For what cause do thy disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but, with defiled hands, eat bread?
6 Il leur répondit: " Isaïe a bien prophétisé de vous, hypocrites, ainsi qu'il est écrit: Ce peuple m'honore des lèvres, mais leur cœur est loin de moi.
But, he, said unto them—Well, prophesied Isaiah concerning you, ye hypocrites, as it is written—This people, with the lips do honour me, while, their heart, far off, holdeth from me, —
7 Vain est le culte qu'ils me rendent, enseignant des doctrines qui sont des préceptes d'hommes.
But, in vain, do they pay devotions unto me, teaching for teachings, the commandments of men;
8 Vous laissez de côté le commandement de Dieu, pour vous attacher à la tradition des hommes, purifiant les vases et les coupes, et faisant beaucoup d'autres choses semblables.
Having, dismissed, the commandment, of God, ye, hold fast, the tradition, of men.
9 Vous savez fort bien, ajouta-t-il, anéantir ainsi le commandement de Dieu, pour observer votre tradition!
And he was saying to them—Well, do ye set aside the commandment of God, that, your own tradition, ye may observe;
10 Car Moïse a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Celui qui maudira son père et sa mère, qu'il soit puni de mort.
For, Moses, said—Honour thy father and thy mother, and—He that revileth father or mother, let him, surely die, —
11 Et vous, vous dites: Si un homme dit à son père ou à sa mère: Le bien dont j'aurais pu t'assister est corban, c'est-à-dire un don fait à Dieu,
But, ye, say—If a man shall say to his father or his mother, Korban! that is, A gift, whatsoever, out of me, thou mightest be profited,
12 vous ne le laissez plus rien faire pour son père ou sa mère, —
no longer, do ye suffer him to do, aught, for his father or his mother, —
13 anéantissant ainsi la parole de Dieu par la tradition que vous enseignez. Et vous faites beaucoup d'autres choses semblables. "
cancelling the word of God by your tradition which ye have delivered. And, many such similar things, are ye doing!
14 Ayant rappelé le peuple, Jésus leur dit: " Ecoutez-moi tous, et comprenez.
And, again calling near the multitude, he was saying unto them—Hearken to me, all! and understand:
15 Rien de ce qui est hors de l'homme et qui entre dans l'homme ne peut le souiller; mais ce qui sort de l'homme, voilà ce qui souille l'homme.
Nothing, is there, from without the man, entering into him, which can defile him; but, the things which, out of the man, come forth, are the things that defile the man.
16 Que celui qui a des oreilles entende bien. "
17 Lorsqu'il fut entré dans une maison, loin de la foule, ses disciples l'interrogèrent sur cette parabole.
And, when he entered into a house from the multitudes, his disciples began to question him as to the parable;
18 Il leur dit: " Vous aussi, avez-vous si peu d'intelligence? Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui du dehors entre dans l'homme ne peut le souiller,
And he saith unto them—Thus, are, ye also, without discernment? Perceive ye not that, nothing, from without, entering into the man, can defile him;
19 parce que cela n'entre pas dans son cœur, mais va au ventre, et est rejeté au lieu secret, ce qui purifie tous les aliments?
because it entereth not into his heart, but into his stomach, and, into the draught, is passed—purifying all foods?
20 Mais ajouta-t-il, ce qui sort de l'homme, voilà ce qui souille l'homme.
And he was saying—That which, out of the man, cometh forth, that, defileth the man;
21 Car c'est du dedans, du cœur des hommes, que sortent les pensées mauvaises, les adultères, les fornications, les homicides,
For, from within, out of the heart of men, the base designs, come forth, —fornications, thefts,
22 les vols, l'avarice, les méchancetés, la fraude, le libertinage, l'œil malin, la calomnie, l'orgueil, la folie.
murders, adulteries, covetousnesses, knaveries, deceit, wantonness, an evil eye, profane speaking, foolishness, —
23 Toutes ces choses mauvaises sortent du dedans et souillent l'homme. "
all these wicked things, from within, come forth, and defile, the man.
24 Il partit ensuite de ce lieu, et s'en alla vers les confins de Tyr et de Sidon. Et étant entré dans une maison, il désirait que personne ne le sût, mais il ne put demeurer caché.
And, from thence arising, he departed into the bounds of Tyre [and Zidon]. And, entering into a house, he was wishing, no one, to know it, and yet could not escape notice, —
25 Car une femme, dont la petite fille était possédée d'un esprit impur, n'eut pas plus tôt entendu parler de lui, qu'elle vint se jeter à ses pieds.
but, straightway, a woman hearing about him, whose daughter had an impure spirit, she came and fell down at his feet.
26 Cette femme était païenne, syro-phénicienne de nation; elle le pria de chasser le démon hors de sa fille.
Now, the woman, was a Grecian, a Syrophoenician by race, —and she was requesting him that, the demon, he would cast forth out of her daughter.
27 Il lui dit: " Laissez d'abord les enfants se rassasier, car il n'est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants et de le jeter aux petits chiens. —
And he was saying to her—Suffer, the children, first, to be fed; for it is not seemly to take the bread of the children, and, unto the little dogs, to cast it;
28 Il est vrai, Seigneur, répondit-elle; mais les petits chiens mangent sous la table les miettes des enfants. "
but she answered and saith to him—Yea, Lord! and yet, the little dogs under the table, do eat of the crumbs of the children;
29 Alors il lui dit: " A cause de cette parole, allez, le démon est sorti de votre fille. "
and he said to her—Because of this word, go thy way, the demon hath gone forth out of thy daughter;
30 Etant retournée à sa maison, elle trouva sa fille couchée sur son lit; le démon l'avait quittée.
and, departing unto her house, she found the child laid prostrate on the couch, and the demon gone forth.
31 Sortant alors du pays de Tyr, Jésus revint par Sidon vers la mer de Galilée, au centre du pays de la Décapole.
And, again coming forth out of the bounds of Tyre, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the bounds of Decapolis.
32 Là, on lui amena un sourd-muet, et on le pria de lui imposer les mains.
And they bring to him one deaf and stammering, and beseech him that he would lay upon him his hand.
33 Jésus, le tirant à part hors de la foule, lui mit les doigts dans les oreilles, et de sa salive sur la langue;
And, taking him away from the multitude apart, he thrust his fingers into his ears, and, spitting, touched his tongue;
34 puis levant les yeux au ciel, il poussa un soupir et lui dit: " Ephphéta, " c'est-à-dire, ouvre-toi.
and, looking up into the heaven, sighed deeply, and saith unto him—Ephphatha! that is, Be opened!
35 Et aussitôt les oreilles de cet homme s'ouvrirent, sa langue se délia, et il parlait distinctement.
and his ears opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, —and he was speaking correctly.
36 Jésus leur défendit d'en rien dire à personne. Mais plus il le leur défendait, plus ils le publiaient;
And he charged them that they should be telling, no one, —but, as much as to them he gave charge, they, exceeding more abundantly, were making proclamation.
37 et ravis d'une admiration sans bornes, ils disaient: " Tout ce qu'il a fait est merveilleux! Il fait entendre les sourds et parler les muets. "
And, superabundantly, were they being struck with astonishment, saying—Well, hath he, all things, done, —both, the deaf, he causeth to hear, and, the dumb, to speak.
