Luc 7
1 Après qu'il eut achevé de faire entendre au peuple tous ses discours, Jésus entra dans Capharnaüm.
After he had completed all his sayings within the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 Or, un centurion avait un serviteur malade, qui allait mourir et il l'aimait beaucoup.
And, a certain centurion’s servant, being sick, was on the point of dying, —who was, by him, highly prized.
3 Ayant entendu parler de Jésus, il lui députa quelques anciens d'entre les Juifs, pour le prier de venir guérir son serviteur.
But, hearing about Jesus, he sent forth unto him elders of the Jews, requesting him that he would come and bring his servant safely through.
4 Ceux-ci étant arrivés vers Jésus, le prièrent avec grande instance, en disant: " Il mérite que vous fassiez cela pour lui;
And, they, coming near unto Jesus, began beseeching him earnestly, saying—Worthy, is he for whom thou mayest do this,
5 car il aime notre nation, et il a même bâti notre synagogue. "
for he loveth our nation, and, the synagogue, he, built for us.
6 Jésus s'en alla donc avec eux. Il n'était plus loin de la maison, lorsque le centurion envoya quelques-uns de ses amis lui dire: " Seigneur, ne prenez pas tant de peine, car je ne suis pas digne que vous entriez sous mon toit;
And, Jesus, was journeying with them. But, he, by this time, being not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying unto him—Lord! do not trouble thyself, for I am of no consideration, that, under my roof, thou shouldst enter.
7 aussi ne me suis-je pas même jugé digne de venir auprès de vous; mais dites un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri.
Wherefore, neither deemed I, myself, worthy to come unto thee, —but speak with a word, and let my servant be healed.
8 Car moi, qui suis soumis à des supérieurs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres, et je dis à l'un: Va, et il va; à un autre: Viens, et il vient; et à mon serviteur: Fais cela, et il le fait. "
For, I too, am a man ranked, under authority, having, under myself, soldiers; and I say to this one—Go! and he goeth, —and to another—Come! and he cometh, —and to my servant—Do this! and he doeth it.
9 Ce qu'ayant entendu, Jésus admira cet homme, et, se tournant vers la foule qui le suivait, il dit: " Je vous le dis, en vérité, en Israël même je n'ai pas trouvé une si grande foi. "
And, hearing these things, Jesus marvelled at him; and, turning to the multitude following him, said—I tell you, Not even in Israel, such faith as this, have I found!
10 A leur retour dans la maison du centurion, les envoyés trouvèrent guéri le serviteur qui était malade.
And they who were sent, returning unto the house, found the servant, well.
11 Quelques temps après, Jésus se rendait à une ville appelée Naïm; de nombreux disciples et une grande foule faisaient route avec lui.
And it came to pass thereafter, that he journeyed unto a city called Nain, and there were journeying with him, his disciples and a great multitude.
12 Comme il arrivait près de la porte de la ville, il se trouva qu'on emportait un mort, fils unique de sa mère, et celle-ci était veuve, et beaucoup de gens de la ville l'accompagnaient.
Now, as he drew near unto the gate of the city, then lo! there was being brought forth, one dead, the only-begotten son of his mother, —and, she, was a widow; and, a considerable multitude of the city, was with her.
13 Le Seigneur l'ayant vue, fut touché de compassion pour elle, et lui dit: " Ne pleurez pas. "
And, beholding her, the Lord, was moved with compassion over her, and said to her—Be not weeping!
14 Et s'approchant, il toucha le cercueil, les porteurs s'étant arrêtés; puis il dit: " Jeune homme, je te le commande, lève-toi. "
And, going forward, he touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still; and he said—Young man! to thee, I say, Arise!
15 Aussitôt le mort se leva sur son séant, et se mit à parler, et Jésus le rendit à sa mère.
And the dead man sat up, and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
16 Tous furent saisis de crainte, et ils glorifiaient Dieu en disant: " Un grand prophète a paru parmi nous, et Dieu a visité son peuple. "
And fear seized them, all, and they began to glorify God, saying—A great prophet, hath been raised up amongst us! and—God hath visited his people!
17 Et cette parole prononcée à son sujet se répandit dans toute la Judée et dans tout le pays d'alentour.
And this report went forth throughout the whole of Judaea, and all the surrounding country.
18 Les disciples de Jean lui ayant rapporté toutes ces choses,
And John’s disciples carried tidings unto him concerning all these things.
19 il en appela deux, et les envoya vers Jésus pour lui dire: " Etes-vous celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre? "
And, calling unto him certain two of his disciples, John sent unto the Lord, saying—Art, thou, the Coming One, or, a different one, are we to expect?
20 Etant donc venus à lui: " Jean-Baptiste, lui dirent-ils, nous a envoyés vers vous pour vous demander: Etes-vous celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre? "
And, coming near unto him, the men said—John the Immerser, hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art, thou, the Coming One, or, another, are we to expect?
21 — A ce moment même, Jésus guérit un grand nombre de personnes affligées par la maladie, les infirmités, ou les esprits malins, et accorda la vue à plusieurs aveugles. —
In that very hour, he cured many from diseases, and plagues, and wicked spirits; and, unto many blind, gave he the favour to see.
22 Puis il répondit aux envoyés: " Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu: les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, les pauvres sont évangélisés.
And, answering, he said unto them—Go and bear tidings unto John, as to what ye have seen and heard: The blind, are receiving sight, the lame, walk, lepers, are cleansed, and, the deaf, hear, the dead, are raised, the destitute, are told the glad-message;
23 Heureux celui qui ne se scandalise pas en moi! "
And, happy, is he, whosoever shall not find occasion of stumbling in me!
24 Lorsque les envoyés de Jean furent partis, Jésus se mit à dire au peuple, au sujet de Jean: " Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un roseau agité par le vent?
And, the messengers of John having departed, he began to say unto the multitudes, concerning John—What went ye forth into the desert to gaze at? A reed, by a wind, shaken?
25 Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un homme vêtu d'habits moelleux? Mais ceux qui portent des vêtements précieux et vivent dans les délices sont dans les palais royaux.
But what went ye forth to see? A man, in soft garments, arrayed? Lo! they who in splendid apparel and luxury are found, are, in the kingly courts.
26 Enfin qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un prophète? Oui, je vous le dis, et plus qu'un prophète.
But what went ye forth to see? A prophet? Yea! I say unto you, —and abundantly more than a prophet.
27 C'est de lui qu'il est écrit: J'envoie mon messager devant votre face, pour vous précéder et vous préparer la voie.
This, is he concerning whom it is written—Lo! I am sending forth my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.
28 Je vous le dis en effet, parmi les enfants des femmes, il n'y a pas de prophète plus grand que Jean-Baptiste; mais le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui.
I say unto you—A greater, among them that are born of women, than John, is there none; but, he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.
29 Tout le peuple qui l'a entendu, et les publicains eux-mêmes, ont justifié Dieu, en se faisant baptiser du baptême de Jean,
And, all the people, when they heard, and the tax-collectors, justified God, having been immersed with the immersion of John;
30 tandis que les Pharisiens et les Docteurs de la Loi ont annulé le dessein de Dieu à leur égard, en ne se faisant pas baptiser par lui. "
but, the Pharisees and the lawyers, had set aside, the counsel of God against themselves, not being immersed by him.
31 " A qui donc, dit encore le Seigneur, comparerai-je les hommes de cette génération? A qui sont-ils semblables?
Unto what, then, shall I liken the men of this generation? And unto what are they like?
32 Ils sont semblables à des enfants assis dans la place publique, qui s'interpellent entre eux et se disent les uns aux autres: Nous vous avons joué de la flûte, et vous n'avez pas dansé; nous vous avons chanté des complaintes, et vous n'avez point pleuré.
They are like unto the children sitting, in a market-place, and calling one to another, who say—We played the flute for you, and ye danced not, We wailed, and ye wept not.
33 Car Jean-Baptiste est venu, ne mangeant point de pain et ne buvant point de vin, et vous dites: Il est possédé du démon.
For John the Immerser hath come, neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and ye say—A demon, he hath:
34 Le Fils de l'homme est venu mangeant et buvant, et vous dites: C'est un homme de bonne chère et un buveur, un ami des publicains et des gens de mauvaise vie.
The Son of Man hath come, eating and drinking, and ye say—Lo! a man, gluttonous and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners.
35 Mais la Sagesse a été justifiée par tous ses enfants. "
And yet wisdom hath been justified by all her children.
36 Un Pharisien ayant prié Jésus de manger avec lui, il entra dans sa maison et se mit à table.
And a certain one of the Pharisees was requesting him, that he would eat with him; and, entering into the house of the Pharisee, he reclined.
37 Et voici qu'une femme qui menait dans la ville une vie déréglée, ayant su qu'il était à table dans la maison du Pharisien, apporta un vase d'albâtre plein de parfum;
And, lo! a woman, who indeed was in the city a sinner; and, when she found out that he was reclining in the house of the Pharisee, providing an alabaster-jar of perfume,
38 et se tenant derrière lui, à ses pieds, tout en pleurs, elle se mit à les arroser de ses larmes et à les essuyer avec les cheveux de sa tête, et elle les baisait et les oignait de parfum.
and standing behind, near his feet, weeping, with the tears, began she to be wetting his feet, and, with the hair of her head, was wiping off [the tears], and was tenderly kissing his feet, and anointing them with the perfume.
39 A cette vue, le Pharisien qui l'avait invité, dit en lui-même: " Si cet homme était prophète, il saurait qui et de quelle espèce est la femme qui le touche, et que c'est une pécheresse. "
But the Pharisee who had invited him, seeing it, spake within himself, saying, This one, if he were the prophet, would have been taking note, who and of what sort, is the woman, who is even touching him, that she is, a sinner.
40 Alors prenant la parole, Jésus lui dit: " Simon, j'ai quelque chose à te dire. " — " Maître, parlez ", dit-il. —
And, making answer, Jesus said unto him—Simon! I have, unto thee, something to say. He, then—Teacher, speak!—saith he.
41 " Un créancier avait deux débiteurs; l'un devait cinq cents deniers et l'autre cinquante.
Two debtors, there were, to a certain creditor, —the one, owed five hundred denaries, and, the other, fifty.
42 Comme ils n'avaient pas de quoi payer leur dette, il en fit grâce à tous deux. Lequel donc l'aimera davantage? "
they not having wherewith to pay, he forgave, both. Which of them, therefore, will love him, more?
43 Simon répondit: " Celui, je pense, auquel il a fait grâce de la plus forte somme. " Jésus lui dit: " Tu as bien jugé. "
Making answer, Simon said—I suppose, that he to whom, the more, he forgave. And, he, said unto him—Rightly, hast thou judged.
44 Et, se tournant vers la femme, il dit à Simon: " Vois-tu cette femme? Je suis entré dans ta maison, et tu n'as pas versé d'eau sur mes pieds; mais elle, elle les a mouillés de ses larmes, et les a essuyés avec ses cheveux.
And, turning towards the woman, unto Simon, he said—Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house: water to me, on my feet, thou didst not give, —but, she, with her tears, hath wetted my feet, and, with her hair, wiped off [the tears].
45 Tu ne m'as point donné de baiser; mais elle, depuis que je suis entré, elle n'a cessé de me baiser les pieds.
A kiss, to me, thou didst not give, —but, she, from the time I came in, hath not ceased tenderly kissing my feet.
46 Tu n'as pas oint ma tête d'huile, mais elle a oint mes pieds de parfum.
With oil, my head, thou didst not anoint, —but, she, with perfume, hath anointed, my feet.
47 C'est pourquoi, je te le déclare, ses nombreux péchés lui sont pardonnés, parce qu'elle a beaucoup aimé; mais celui à qui l'on pardonne peu, aime peu. "
For which cause, I say unto thee—Her many sins, have been forgiven, because she hath loved, much: but, he to whom little is forgiven, little, loveth.
48 Puis il dit à la femme: " Tes péchés te sont pardonnés. "
And he said unto her—Thy sins have been forgiven.
49 Et ceux qui étaient à table avec lui se mirent à dire en eux-mêmes: " Qui est celui-ci qui remet même les péchés? "
And they who were reclining together, began to be saying within themselves—Who is, this, that, even forgiveth sins?
50 Mais Jésus dit à la femme: " Ta foi t'a sauvée, va en paix. "
But he said unto the woman—Thy faith, hath saved thee, —Go thy way into peace.
