Luc 16
1 Jésus disait aussi à ses disciples: " Un homme riche avait un économe qu'on accusa devant lui de dissiper ses biens.
To his disciples he said. "There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and this steward was accused to him of wasting his property.
2 Il l'appela et lui dit: Qu'est-ce que j'entends dire de toi? Rends compte de ton administration: car désormais tu ne pourras plus gérer mes biens.
"He called to him to him and said. "‘What is this that I hear about you? Render an account of your stewardship; for you can no longer be steward.’
3 Alors l'économe dit en lui-même: Que ferai-je, puisque mon maître me retire la gestion de ses biens? Travailler la terre, je n'en ai pas la force, et j'ai honte de mendier.
"Now the steward said to himself. ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking away my stewardship? I am not strong enough to dig, to beg I am ashamed.
4 Je sais ce que je ferai, afin que, lorsqu'on m'aura ôté mon emploi, il y ait des gens qui me reçoivent dans leurs maisons.
"‘I know what I will do, so that when I am put out of my stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’
5 Faisant donc venir l'un après l'autre les débiteurs de son maître, il dit au premier: Combien dois-tu à mon maître?
"So he called to him each of his master’s debtors and said to the first, ‘How much money do you owe my master?’
6 Il répondit: Cent barils d'huile. L'économe lui dit: Prends ton billet: assieds-toi vite, et écris cinquante.
"‘A hundred measures of oil,’ he answered. "He said to him, ‘Take your bill and sit down quickly and write fifty."
7 Ensuite il dit à un autre: Et toi, combien dois-tu? Il répondit: Cent mesures de froment. L'économe lui dit: Prends ton billet, et écris quatre-vingts.
"To a second he said, ‘How much do you owe?’ "The man answered, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ "‘Here is you bill,’ he said, ‘change it to eighty measures.’
8 Et le maître loua l'économe infidèle d'avoir agi habilement; car les enfants de ce siècle sont plus habiles entre eux que les enfants de la lumière. (aiōn g165)
"And the master praised the unjust steward because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this world are in relation to their own generation wiser than the sons of the light. (aiōn g165)
9 Moi aussi je vous dis: Faites-vous des amis avec les richesses d'iniquité, afin que, lorsque vous quitterez la vie, ils vous reçoivent dans les tabernacles éternels. (aiōnios g166)
"And to you I say, Use mammon, dishonest as it is, to make yourselves friends, so that when it shall fail they will welcome you to the eternal tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 Celui qui est fidèle dans les petites choses, est fidèle aussi dans les grandes, et celui qui est injuste dans les petites choses, est injuste aussi dans les grandes.
"The man who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much, and he who is unjust in a very little, is unjust also as much.
11 Si donc vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans les richesses d'iniquité, qui vous confiera les biens véritables?
"If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will trust to you the true riches?
12 Et si vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans un bien étranger, qui vous donnera votre bien propre?
"And if you are not faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is your own?
13 Nul serviteur ne peut servir deux maîtres; car ou il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre, ou il s'attachera à l'un et méprisera l'autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et la Richesse. "
"No one can be a household servants to two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will cling to the one and despise the other. You cannot be the slave of God and of Mammon."
14 Les Pharisiens qui aimaient l'argent, écoutaient aussi tout cela, et se moquaient de lui.
Now the Pharisees who loved money listened to all this and they jeered at him.
15 Jésus leur dit: " Vous êtes ceux qui se font passer pour justes devant les hommes; mais Dieu connaît vos cœurs; et ce qui est élevé aux yeux des hommes est une abomination devant Dieu.
He said to them. "You are those that justify themselves in the eyes of men; but God knows you hearts; for that which is lofty in the eyes of men is abomination in the eyes of God.
16 La Loi et les prophètes vont jusqu'à Jean; depuis Jean, le royaume de Dieu est annoncé, et chacun fait effort pour y entrer.
"The Law and the Prophet lasted until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and any one presses in.
17 Plus facilement le ciel et la terre passeront, qu'un seul trait de la Loi périsse.
"Yet it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away then for one title of the law to fail.
18 Quiconque renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère; et quiconque épouse la femme renvoyée par son mari, commet un adultère.
"Every man who divorces his wife and marries some one else, commits adultery; and he who marries one who is put away by her husband commits adultery.
19 Il y avait un homme riche qui était vêtu de pourpre et de fin lin, et qui faisait chaque jour splendide chère.
"Now there was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and made merry every day in splendor.
20 Un pauvre, nommé Lazare, était couché à sa porte, couvert d'ulcères,
"And a certain beggar named Lazarus was thrown at his door.
21 et souhaitant de se rassasier des miettes qui tombaient de la table du riche; mais les chiens mêmes venaient lécher ses ulcères.
"He was full of sores, and longingly desired to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes! even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 Or, il arriva que le pauvre mourut, et il fut porté par les anges dans le sein d'Abraham. Le riche mourut aussi, et on lui donna la sépulture.
"But in the course of time the beggar died; and he was carried by angels into Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Dans l'enfer, il leva les yeux, et tandis qu'il était en proie aux tourments, il vit de loin Abraham, et Lazare dans son sein, (Hadēs g86)
"And as he was tormented in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 et il s'écria: Abraham, notre père, aie pitié de moi, et envoie Lazare, pour qu'il trempe dans l'eau le bout de son doigt et me rafraîchisse la langue; car je souffre cruellement de ces flammes.
"And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham have mercy on me; and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
25 Abraham répondit: Mon fils, souviens-toi que tu as reçu tes biens pendant ta vie, et que pareillement Lazare a eu ses maux: maintenant il est ici consolé, et toi, tu souffres.
"‘Remember my son.’ said Abraham, ‘that you had in your lifetime all your good things, and in the same way Lazarus his evil things; but now here he is comforted, and you are in anguish.
26 De plus, entre nous et vous il y a pour toujours un grand abîme, afin que ceux qui voudraient passer d'ici vers vous ne le puissent, et qu'il soit impossible de passer de là-bas jusqu'à nous.
"But besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who want to cross from here to you cannot, nor can those who would cross from you to us.’
27 Et le riche dit: Je te prie donc, père, d'envoyer Lazare dans la maison de mon père,
"‘I beg you then, father,’ he said, ‘send him to my fathers house. For I have five brothers.
28 — car j'ai cinq frères, — pour leur attester ces choses de peur qu'ils ne viennent, eux aussi, dans ce lieu de tourments.
"‘Let him earnestly warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.’
29 Abraham répondit: Ils ont Moïse et les prophètes; qu'ils les écoutent. —
"But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets, let them listen to them.’
30 Non, Abraham, notre père, reprit-il; mais si quelqu'un des morts va vers eux, ils se repentiront.
"‘Nay, Father Abraham,’ he said ‘but if some one went to them from the dead they would repent.’
31 Mais Abraham lui dit: S'ils n'écoutent pas Moïse et les prophètes, quelqu'un des morts ressusciterait, qu'ils ne le croiraient point. "
"‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets,’ said Father Abraham, ‘neither will they be persuaded if one should rise from the dead.’"
