Luc 12
1 Sur ces entrefaites, les gens s'étant rassemblés par milliers, au point de se fouler les uns les autres, Jésus se mit à dire à ses disciples: " Gardez-vous avant tout du levain des Pharisiens, qui est l'hypocrisie.
Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his talmidim first of all, "Beware of the hametz of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 Il n'y a rien de caché qui ne doive être révélé, rien de secret qui ne doive être connu.
But there is nothing covered up, that will not be revealed, nor hidden, that will not be known.
3 C'est pourquoi, tout ce que vous aurez dit dans les ténèbres, on l'entendra au grand jour; et ce que vous aurez dit à l'oreille dans l'intérieur de la maison, sera publié sur les toits.
Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers will be proclaimed on the housetops.
4 Mais je vous dis, à vous qui êtes mes amis: Ne craignez pas ceux qui tuent le corps, et qui après cela ne peuvent rien faire de plus.
"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5 Je vais vous apprendre qui vous devez craindre: craignez celui qui, après avoir tué, a le pouvoir de jeter dans la géhenne; oui, je vous le dis, craignez celui-là. (Geenna g1067)
But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehinnom. Yes, I tell you, fear him. (Geenna g1067)
6 Cinq passereaux ne se vendent-ils pas deux as? Et pas un d'eux n'est en oubli devant Dieu.
"Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.
7 Mais les cheveux mêmes de votre tête sont tous comptés. Ne craignez donc point: vous êtes de plus de prix que beaucoup de passereaux.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
8 Je vous le dis encore, quiconque m'aura confessé devant les hommes, le Fils de l'homme aussi le confessera devant les anges de Dieu;
"I tell you, everyone who confesses me before people, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;
9 mais celui qui m'aura renié devant les hommes, sera renié devant les anges de Dieu.
but the one who denies me in the presence of people will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.
10 Et quiconque parlera contre le Fils de l'homme, obtiendra le pardon; mais pour celui qui aura blasphémé contre l'Esprit-Saint, il n'y aura point de pardon.
Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Ruach ha-Kodesh will not be forgiven.
11 Quand on vous conduira devant les synagogues, les magistrats et les autorités, ne vous mettez point en peine de la manière dont vous vous défendrez, ni de ce que vous direz;
When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you will answer, or what you will say;
12 car le Saint-Esprit vous enseignera à l'heure même ce qu'il faudra dire. "
for the Ruach ha-Kodesh will teach you in that same hour what you must say."
13 Alors du milieu de la foule quelqu'un dit à Jésus: " Maître, dites à mon frère de partager avec moi notre héritage. "
And someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
14 Jésus lui répondit: " Homme, qui m'a établi pour être votre juge, ou pour faire vos partages? "
But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?"
15 Et il dit au peuple: " Gardez-vous avec soin de toute avarice; car, dans l'abondance même, la vie d'un homme ne dépend pas des biens qu'il possède. "
He said to them, "Beware. Keep yourselves from all covetousness, for a man's life does not consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses."
16 Puis il leur dit cette parabole: " Il y avait un homme riche dont le domaine avait beaucoup rapporté.
He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.
17 Et il s'entretenait en lui-même de ces pensées: Que ferai-je? car je n'ai pas de place pour serrer ma récolte.
He reasoned within himself, saying, 'What will I do, because I do not have room to store my crops?'
18 Voici, dit-il, ce que je ferai. J'abattrai mes greniers, et j'en construirai de plus grands, et j'y amasserai la totalité de mes récoltes et de mes biens.
He said, 'This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 Et je dirai à mon âme: Mon âme, tu as de grands biens en réserve pour beaucoup d'années; repose-toi, mange, bois, fais bonne chère.
I will tell my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry."'
20 Mais Dieu lui dit: Insensé! cette nuit même on te redemandera ton âme; et ce que tu as mis en réserve, pour qui sera-t-il?
"But God said to him, 'You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?'
21 Il en est ainsi de l'homme qui amasse des trésors pour lui-même, et qui n'est pas riche devant Dieu. "
So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
22 Jésus dit ensuite à ses disciples: " C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie, de ce que vous mangerez; ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous le vêtirez.
He said to his talmidim, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.
23 La vie est plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement.
Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24 Considérez les corbeaux: ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent; ils n'ont ni cellier ni grenier, et Dieu les nourrit. Combien ne valez-vous pas plus que ces oiseaux?
Consider the ravens: they do not sow, they do not reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds.
25 Qui de vous pourrait, à force de soucis, ajouter une coudée à la longueur de sa vie?
Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?
26 Si donc les moindres choses sont au-dessus de votre pouvoir, pourquoi vous inquiétez-vous des autres?
If then you are not able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?
27 Considérez les lis, comment ils croissent, ils ne travaillent ni ne filent, et, je vous le dis, Salomon dans toute sa gloire n'était pas vêtu comme l'un d'eux.
Consider the lilies, how they grow. They do not toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 Si Dieu revêt de la sorte l'herbe, qui est aujourd'hui dans les champs et qui demain sera jetée au four, combien plus le fera-t-il pour vous, hommes de peu de foi!
But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
29 Vous non plus, ne cherchez pas ce que vous mangerez ou ce que vous boirez, et ne soyez pas en suspens dans l'inquiétude.
Do not seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.
30 Car ce sont les gens de ce monde qui se préoccupent de toutes ces choses; mais votre Père sait que vous en avez besoin.
For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.
31 Au reste, cherchez le royaume de Dieu, et tout cela vous sera donné par surcroît.
But seek his Kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
32 Ne craignez point, petit troupeau, car il a plus à votre Père de vous donner le royaume.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
33 Vendez ce que vous avez, et donnez l'aumône. Faites-vous des bourses que le temps n'use pas, un trésor inépuisable dans les cieux, où les voleurs n'ont point d'accès, et où les mites ne rongent point.
Sell that which you have, and do tzedakah. Make for yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.
34 Car là où est votre trésor, là aussi sera votre cœur.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 Ayez la ceinture aux reins et vos lampes allumées!
"Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.
36 Soyez semblables à des hommes qui attendent le moment où leur maître reviendra des noces, afin que, dès qu'il arrivera et frappera à la porte, ils lui ouvrent aussitôt.
Be like people watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.
37 Heureux ces serviteurs que le maître, à son retour, trouvera veillant! Je vous le dis en vérité, il se ceindra, il les fera mettre à table, et s'approchera pour les servir.
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.
38 Qu'il arrive à la deuxième veille, qu'il arrive à la troisième, s'il les trouve ainsi, heureux ces serviteurs!
And if he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are they.
39 Mais sachez bien que si le père de famille savait à quelle heure le voleur doit venir, il veillerait et ne laisserait point percer sa maison.
But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and not have allowed his house to be broken into.
40 Vous aussi, tenez-vous prêts, car le Fils de l'homme viendra à l'heure que vous ne pensez pas. "
Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you do not expect him."
41 Alors Pierre lui dit: " Est-ce à nous que vous adressez cette parabole, ou bien est-ce aussi à tous? "
And Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?"
42 Le Seigneur répondit: " Quel est l'économe fidèle et sage que le maître établira sur ses serviteurs, pour distribuer, au temps convenable, la mesure de froment?
The Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right time?
43 Heureux ce serviteur, que le maître, à son arrivée, trouvera agissant ainsi!
Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.
44 Je vous le dis, en vérité, il l'établira sur tous ses biens.
Truly I tell you, that he will set him over all that he has.
45 Mais si ce serviteur dit en lui-même: Mon maître tarde à venir; et qu'il se mette à battre les serviteurs et les servantes, à manger, à boire et à s'enivrer,
But if that servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunk,
46 le maître de ce serviteur viendra au jour où il ne s'attend pas et à l'heure qu'il ne sait pas, et il le fera déchirer de coups, et lui assignera sa part avec les infidèles.
then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not expecting him, and in an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.
47 Ce serviteur-là qui aura connu la volonté de son maître, et qui n'aura rien tenu prêt, ni agi selon sa volonté, recevra un grand nombre de coups.
That servant, who knew his lord's will, and did not prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,
48 Mais celui qui ne l'aura pas connue, et qui aura fait des choses dignes de châtiment, recevra peu de coups. On exigera beaucoup de celui à qui l'on a beaucoup donné; et plus on aura confié à quelqu'un, plus on lui demandera.
but he who did not know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.
49 Je suis venu jeter le feu sur la terre, et que désiré-je, si déjà il est allumé?
"I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.
50 Je dois encore être baptisé d'un baptême, et quelle angoisse en moi jusqu'à ce qu'il soit accompli!
But I have a immersion to be immersed with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished.
51 Pensez-vous que je sois venu établir la paix sur la terre? Non, vous dis-je, mais bien la division.
Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.
52 Car désormais, s'il y a cinq personnes dans une maison, elles seront divisés, trois contre deux, et deux contre trois;
For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 le père sera divisé contre son fils, et le fils contre son père; la mère contre sa fille et la fille contre sa mère; la belle-mère contre sa belle-fille, et la belle-fille contre sa belle-mère. "
They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
54 Il disait encore au peuple: " Lorsque vous voyez la nuée se lever au couchant, vous dites aussitôt: La pluie vient; et cela arrive ainsi.
He said to the crowds also, "When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is coming,' and so it happens.
55 Et quand vous voyez souffler le vent du midi, vous dites: Il fera chaud, et cela arrive.
When a south wind blows, you say, 'There will be a scorching heat,' and it happens.
56 Hypocrites, vous savez reconnaître les aspects du ciel et de la terre; comment donc ne reconnaissez-vous pas le temps où nous sommes?
Hypocrites. You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why do you not know how to interpret this time?
57 Et comment ne discernez-vous pas de vous-mêmes ce qui est juste?
Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
58 En effet, lorsque tu te rends avec ton adversaire devant le magistrat, tâche en chemin de te dégager de sa poursuite, de peur qu'il ne te traîne devant le juge, et que le juge ne te livre à l'officier de justice, et que celui-ci ne te jette en prison.
For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
59 Je te le dis, tu ne sortiras point de là que tu n'aies payé jusqu'à la dernière obole. "
I tell you, you will by no means get out of there, until you have paid the very last penny."
