1 Jésus s'en alla sur la montagne des Oliviers;
but, Jesus, went unto the Mount of Olives.
2 mais, dès le point du jour, il retourna dans le temple, et tout le peuple vint à lui. Et s'étant assis, il les enseignait.
And, early in the morning, again, came he into the temple, and all the people were coming unto him; and, sitting down, he began to teach them.
3 Alors les Scribes et les Pharisiens lui amenèrent une femme surprise en adultère, et l'ayant fait avancer,
And the Scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman, caught, in adultery; and, setting her in the midst,
4 ils dirent à Jésus: " Maître, cette femme a été surprise en flagrant délit d'adultère.
they say unto him—Teacher! this woman, hath been caught in the very act of committing adultery!
5 Or Moïse, dans la Loi, nous a ordonné de lapider de telles personnes. Vous donc, que dites-vous? "
Now, in the law, Moses, [unto us] gave command to stone, such as these. What, then, dost, thou, say?
6 C'était pour l'éprouver qu'ils l'interrogeaient ainsi, afin de pouvoir l'accuser. Mais Jésus, s'étant baissé, écrivait sur la terre avec le doigt.
[This, however, they were saying, by way of testing him, —that they might have whereof to accuse him.] But, Jesus, stooping down, with his finger, wrote in the ground.
7 Comme ils continuaient à l'interroger, il se releva et leur dit: " Que celui de vous qui est sans péché lui jette la première pierre. "
When, however, they still continued questioning him, he lifted himself up and said [unto them]—He of you, that is without sin, let him first cast at her a stone;
8 Et s'étant baissé de nouveau, il écrivait sur la terre.
and, again stooping down, he wrote in the ground.
9 Ayant entendu cette parole, [et se sentant repris par leur conscience, ] ils se retirèrent les uns après les autres, les plus âgés d'abord, [puis tous les autres, ] de sorte que Jésus resta seul avec la femme qui était au milieu.
And, they who heard, began to go out, one by one, beginning from the elders, —and he was left, alone; the woman also, being, in the midst.
10 Alors Jésus s'étant relevé, et ne voyant plus que la femme, lui dit: " Femme, où sont ceux qui vous accusaient? Est-ce que personne ne vous a condamnée? "
And lifting himself up, Jesus said unto her—Woman, where are they? Hath, no one, condemned thee?
11 Elle répondit: " Personne, Seigneur "; Jésus lui dit: " Je ne vous condamne pas non plus. Allez, et ne péchez plus. "
And, she, said—No one, Sir! And Jesus said—Neither do, I, condemn thee, —be going thy way: Henceforth, be sinning, no more.
12 Jésus leur parla de nouveau, disant: " Je suis la lumière du monde. Celui qui me suit ne marchera pas dans les ténèbres, mais il aura la lumière de la vie. "
Again, therefore, unto them, spake Jesus, saying—I, am the light of the world: He that followeth me, shall in nowise walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 Sur quoi les Pharisiens lui dirent: " Vous rendez témoignage de vous-même; votre témoignage n'est pas digne de foi. "
The Pharisees, therefore, said unto him—Thou, concerning thyself, bearest witness: thy witness, is not true.
14 Jésus leur répondit: " Quoique je rende témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage est véridique, parce que je sais d'où je suis venu et où je vais; mais vous, vous ne savez d'où je viens, ni ou je vais.
Jesus answered, and said unto them—Even though, I, bear witness concerning myself, true, is my witness, because I know whence I came, and whither I go; but, ye, know not whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Vous jugez selon la chair; moi je ne juge personne.
Ye, according to the flesh, do judge: I, am judging no one.
16 Et si je juge, mon jugement est véridique, car je ne suis pas seul, mais moi, et le Père qui m'a envoyé.
And, even if, I, am judging, my judging, is, genuine, —because, alone, am I not, but, I, and the Father who sent me;
17 Il est écrit dans votre Loi, que le témoignage de deux hommes est digne de foi.
And, in your own law, it is written, that, two men’s witness, is, true:
18 Or, je rends témoignage de moi-même, et le Père qui m'a envoyé rend aussi témoignage de moi. "
I, am the one bearing witness of myself, and the Father who sent me is bearing witness concerning me.
19 Ils lui dirent donc: " Où est votre Père? " Jésus répondit: " Vous ne connaissez ni moi, ni mon Père: si vous me connaissiez, vous connaîtriez aussi mon Père. "
They were saying unto him, therefore—Where, is thy father? Jesus answered—Neither, me, do ye know, nor yet my Father: If, me, ye had known, my Father also, had ye known.
20 Jésus parla de la sorte dans le parvis du Trésor, lorsqu'il enseignait dans le temple; et personne ne mit la main sur lui, parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.
These sayings, spake he in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and yet, no one, seized him, because, not yet, had come his hour.
21 Jésus leur dit encore: " Je m'en vais, et vous me chercherez, et vous mourrez dans votre péché. Où je vais, vous ne pouvez venir. "
He said unto them again, therefore—I, go, and ye shall seek me, —and yet, in your sin, shall ye die: Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come.
22 Les Juifs disaient donc: " Est-ce qu'il va se tuer lui-même, puisqu'il dit: Où je vais, vous ne pouvez venir? "
The Jews, therefore, were saying—Can it be that he will kill himself, that he saith, Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come?
23 Et il leur dit: " Vous, vous êtes d'en bas, moi, je suis d'en haut; vous êtes de ce monde, moi, je ne suis pas de ce monde.
And he was saying unto them—Ye, are, of the realms below, I, am, of the realms above: Ye, are, of this world, I, am not of this world.
24 C'est pourquoi je vous ai dit que vous mourrez dans votre péché; car si vous ne croyez pas que je suis le Messie, vous mourrez dans votre péché. " —
Therefore said I unto you, Ye shall die in your sins: For, if ye believe not that, I, am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 " Qui êtes-vous? " lui dirent-ils. Jésus leur répondit: " Absolument ce que je vous déclare.
They were saying unto him, therefore—Who art, thou? Jesus said unto them—First and foremost, even what I speak unto you.
26 J'ai beaucoup de choses à dire de vous et à condamner en vous, mais celui qui m'a envoyé est véridique, et ce que j'ai entendu de lui, je le dis au monde. "
Many things, have I, concerning you, to speak, and to judge; but, he who sent me, is, true, and, I, what things I heard from him, the same, speak I unto the world.
27 Ils ne comprirent point qu'il leur parlait du Père.
They noted not that, as touching the Father, unto them, he was speaking.
28 Jésus donc leur dit: " Lorsque vous aurez élevé le Fils de l'homme, alors vous connaîtrez qui je suis, et que je ne fais rien de moi-même, mais que je dis ce que mon Père m'a enseigné.
Jesus, therefore, said—Whensoever ye shall lift up the Son of Man, then, shall ye know, that, I, am he, and, of myself, am doing, nothing; but, just as the Father taught me, the same things, am I speaking.
29 Et celui qui m'a envoyé est avec moi, et il ne m'a pas laissé seul, parce que je fais toujours ce qui lui plaît. " —
And, he that sent me, is, with me: He hath not left me, alone. Because, I, the things that please him, ever do.
30 Comme il disait ces choses, beaucoup crurent en lui.
As he was speaking these things, many, believed on him.
31 Jésus dit donc aux Juifs qui avaient cru en lui: " Si vous demeurez dans ma parole, vous êtes vraiment mes disciples;
Jesus was saying, therefore, unto the Jews who had believed on him—If, ye, abide in my word, of a truth, my disciples, ye are;
32 vous connaîtrez la vérité, et la vérité vous rendra libres. "
And ye shall know the truth, and, the truth, shall make you free.
33 Il lui répondirent: " Nous sommes la race d'Abraham, et nous n'avons jamais été esclaves de personne; comment dites-vous: Vous deviendrez libres? "
They made answer unto him—Seed of Abraham, are we, and, unto no one, have been brought into bondage, at any time: How sayest, thou, Free, shall ye be made?
34 Jésus leur répondit: " En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, quiconque se livre au péché est esclave du péché.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you: Every one who committeth sin, is, a slave, [of sin: ]
35 Or, l'esclave ne demeure pas toujours dans la maison; mais le fils y demeure toujours. (aiōn g165)
Now, the slave, doth not abide in the house, evermore. The Son, abideth, evermore. (aiōn g165)
36 Si donc le Fils vous affranchit, vous serez vraiment libres.
If then, the Son, shall make you free, really free, shall ye be.
37 Je sais que vous êtes enfants d'Abraham; mais vous cherchez à me faire mourir, parce que ma parole ne pénètre pas en vous.
I know that ye are, seed of Abraham; but ye are seeking to kill me, because, my word, findeth no place in you.
38 Moi je vous dis ce que j'ai vu chez mon Père; et vous, vous faites ce que vous avez vu chez votre père. "
What things, I, have seen with the Father, I am speaking; Ye, also, then, what things ye have heard from your father, are doing.—
39 Ils lui répondirent: " Notre père, c'est Abraham. " Jésus leur dit: " Si vous étiez enfants d'Abraham, vous feriez les œuvres d'Abraham.
They answered and said unto him—Our father, is, Abraham. Jesus saith unto them—If, children of Abraham, ye are, the works of Abraham, are ye doing.
40 Mais maintenant vous cherchez à me faire mourir, moi qui vous ai dit la vérité que j'ai entendue de Dieu: ce n'est point ce qu'a fait Abraham.
But, now, ye are seeking, to kill me, —A man who, the truth, unto you, hath spoken, which I have heard from God: this, Abraham, did not.
41 Vous faites les œuvres de votre père. " Ils lui dirent: " Nous ne sommes pas des enfants de fornication; nous avons un seul Père, qui est Dieu. "
Ye, are doing the works of your father. They said unto him—We, of fornication, were not born: One father, have we—God.
42 Jésus leur dit: " Si Dieu était votre Père, vous m'aimeriez, car c'est de Dieu que je suis sorti et que je viens; et je ne suis pas venu de moi-même, mais c'est lui qui m'a envoyé.
Jesus said unto them—If, God, had been your father, ye had been loving me, for, I, from God, came forth, and am here; for, not even of myself, have I come, but, he, sent me forth.
43 Pourquoi ne reconnaissez-vous pas mon langage? Parce que vous ne pouvez entendre ma parole.
Wherefore, is it, that, my speech, ye do not understand? because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Le père dont vous êtes issus, c'est le diable, et vous voulez accomplir les désirs de votre père. Il a été homicide dès le commencement, et n'est point demeuré dans la vérité, parce qu'il n'y a point de vérité en lui. Lorsqu'il profère le mensonge, il parle de son propre fonds; car il est menteur, et le père du mensonge.
Ye, are, of your father—the adversary, and, the covetings of your father, ye choose to be doing. He, was, a murderer, from the beginning, and, in the truth, he stood not; because truth is not in him: Whensoever he speaketh falsehood, of his own, he speaketh; because, false, he is, and, the father of it.
45 Et moi, parce que je vous dis la vérité, vous ne me croyez pas.
But, as for me, because, the truth, I speak, ye do not believe me.
46 Qui de vous me convaincra de péché? Si je dis la vérité, pourquoi ne me croyez-vous pas?
Which of you convicteth me of sin? If, truth, I speak, wherefore, do, ye, not believe me?
47 Celui qui est de Dieu entend la parole de Dieu; c'est parce que vous n'êtes pas de Dieu que vous ne l'entendez pas. "
He that is of God, heareth, the sayings of God; therefore, do, ye, not hear, because, of God, ye are not.
48 Les Juifs lui répondirent: " N'avons-nous pas raison de dire que vous êtes un Samaritain et que vous êtes possédé d'un démon? "
The Jews answered, and said unto him—Do, we, not, well, say: Thou, art, a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
49 Jésus répondit: " Il n'y a point en moi de démon; mais j'honore mon Père, et vous, vous m'outragez.
Jesus answered—I, have not, a demon, but honour my Father: and, ye, dishonour me.
50 Pour moi, je n'ai pas souci de ma gloire: il est quelqu'un qui en prend soin et qui fera justice.
But, I, seek not my glory: There is one who seeketh and judgeth.
51 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne verra jamais la mort. " (aiōn g165)
Verily, verily, I say unto you: If anyone shall keep, my word, death, shall he not see, unto times age-abiding. (aiōn g165)
52 Les Juifs lui dirent: " Nous voyons maintenant qu'un démon est en vous. Abraham est mort, les prophètes aussi, et vous, vous dites: Si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne verra jamais la mort. (aiōn g165)
The Jews said unto him—Now, we know that, a demon, thou hast: —Abraham, died, and, the prophets, and yet, thou, sayest: If anyone shall keep, my word, in nowise shall he taste of death, unto times age-abiding. (aiōn g165)
53 Etes-vous plus grand que notre père Abraham, qui est mort? Les Prophètes aussi sont morts; qui prétendez-vous être? "
Surely, thou, art not, greater, than our father Abraham, —who, indeed, died? and, the prophets, died: —Whom, makest thou thyself?
54 Jésus répondit: " Si je me glorifie moi-même, ma gloire n'est rien; c'est mon Père qui me glorifie, lui dont vous dites qu'il est votre Dieu;
Jesus answered—If, I, glorify myself, my glory, is nothing: It is, my Father, that glorifieth me, —of whom, ye, say—He is, your God!
55 et pourtant vous ne le connaissez pas; mais moi, je le connais; et si je disais que je ne le connais pas, je serais menteur comme vous. Mais je le connais et je garde sa parole.
And yet ye have not come to know him; but, I, do know him: If I say, I know him not, I shall be like you—false; but I know him, and, his word, am I keeping.
56 Abraham votre père, a tressailli de joie de ce qu'il devait voir mon jour; il l'a vu, et il s'est réjoui. "
Abraham, your father, exulted that he should see my day; and he saw, and rejoiced.
57 Les Juifs lui dirent: " Vous n'avez pas encore cinquante ans, et vous avez vu Abraham! "
The Jews, therefore, said unto him—Fifty years old, not yet art thou, and, Abraham, hast thou seen?
58 Jésus leur répondit: " En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, avant qu'Abraham fût, je suis. "
Jesus said unto them—Verily, verily, I say unto you: Before, Abraham, came into existence, I, am.
59 Alors ils prirent des pierres pour les lui jeter; mais Jésus se cacha, et sortit du temple.
They took up stones, therefore, that they might cast at him; but, Jesus, was hidden, and went forth out of the temple.
