1 Après cela, Jésus parcourut la Galilée, ne voulant pas aller en Judée, parce que les Juifs cherchaient à le faire mourir.
And, after these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee; for he was not wishing, in Judaea, to be walking, because the Jews were seeking to slay him.
2 Or, la fête des Juifs, celle des Tabernacles, était proche.
But the feast of the Jews was near, that of the pitching of tents.
3 Ses frères lui dirent donc: " Partez d'ici, et allez en Judée, afin que vos disciples aussi voient les œuvres que vous faites;
His brethren, therefore, said unto him—Remove hence, and withdraw into Judaea, that, thy disciples also, may view thy works which thou art doing.
4 car personne ne fait une chose en secret, lorsqu'il désire qu'elle paraisse. Si vous faites ces choses, montrez-vous au monde. "
For, no one, anything in secret, doeth, and yet is seeking, himself, to be well-known. If, these things, thou art doing, manifest thyself unto the world.
5 Car ses frères mêmes ne croyaient pas en lui.
For, not even his brethren, were believing on him.
6 Jésus leur dit: " Mon temps n'est pas encore venu; mais votre temps à vous est toujours prêt.
Jesus, therefore, saith unto them—My season, not yet, is here; but, your season, at anytime, is ready:
7 Le monde ne saurait vous haïr; moi, il me hait, parce que je rends de lui ce témoignage, que ses œuvres sont mauvaises.
The world cannot hate you; but, me, it hateth, because, I, bear witness concerning it, that, the works thereof, are, wicked.
8 Montez, vous, à cette fête; pour moi, je n'y vais point, parce que mon temps n'est pas encore venu. "
Ye, go up unto the feast: I, not yet, am coming up unto this feast, because, my season, not yet, hath fully come.
9 Après avoir dit cela, il resta en Galilée.
And, these things, having said unto them, he was still abiding in Galilee.
10 Mais lorsque ses frères furent partis, lui-même monta aussi à la fête, non publiquement, mais en secret.
But, when his brethren had gone up unto the feast, then, he also, went up, —not openly, but as it were in secret.
11 Les Juifs donc le cherchaient durant la fête, et disaient: " Où est-il? "
The Jews, therefore, were seeking him in the feast, and were saying—Where is that one?
12 Et il y avait dans la foule une grande rumeur à son sujet. Les uns disaient: " C'est un homme de bien. — Non, disaient les autres, il trompe le peuple. "
and there was great, murmuring, about him among the multitudes: some, indeed, were saying—Good, is he! [but], others, were saying—Not so! but he is leading the multitude astray.
13 Cependant personne ne s'exprimait librement sur son compte, par crainte des Juifs.
No one, nevertheless, was speaking, openly, about him, because of their fear of the Jews.
14 On était déjà au milieu de la fête, lorsque Jésus monta au temple, et il se mit à enseigner.
Presently, however, the feast being at its height, Jesus went up unto the temple and was teaching.
15 Les Juifs étonnés disaient: " Comment connaît-il les Écritures, lui qui n'a point fréquenté les écoles? "
The Jews, therefore, began to marvel, saying—How, doth this one know, letters, not having learned?
16 Jésus leur répondit: " Ma doctrine n'est pas de moi, mais de celui qui m'a envoyé.
Jesus, therefore, answered them, and said—My teaching, is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 Si quelqu'un veut faire la volonté de Dieu, il saura si ma doctrine est de Dieu, ou si je parle de moi-même.
If any one intend, his will, to do, he shall get to know concerning the teaching—whether it is, of God, or, I, from myself, am speaking,
18 Celui qui parle de soi-même, cherche sa propre gloire; mais celui qui cherche la gloire de celui qui l'a envoyé, est véridique, et il n'y a point en lui d'imposture.
He that, from himself, doth speak, his own glory, is seeking: he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, the same, is, true, and, injustice, in him, is there none.
19 Est-ce que Moïse ne vous a point donné la Loi? Et nul de vous n'accomplit la loi.
Did not, Moses, give you the law? And yet, not one of you, doeth the law!—Why, seek ye, to slay, me?
20 Pourquoi cherchez-vous à me faire mourir? " La foule répondit: " Vous êtes possédé du démon; qui est-ce qui cherche à vous faire mourir? "
The multitude answered—A demon, thou hast: Who, is seeking, to slay, thee?
21 Jésus leur dit: " J'ai fait une seule œuvre, et vous voilà tous hors de vous-mêmes?
Jesus answered, and said unto them—One work, I did, and ye, all, are marvelling:
22 Moïse vous a donné la circoncision (non qu'elle vienne de Moïse, mais des Patriarches), et vous la pratiquez le jour du sabbat.
For this cause, Moses, hath given you, circumcision, —not that, of Moses, it is, but of the fathers; —and, on Sabbath, ye circumcise a man.
23 Que si, pour ne pas violer la loi de Moïse, on circoncit le jour du sabbat, comment vous indignez-vous contre moi, parce que, le jour du sabbat, j'ai guéri un homme dans tout son corps?
If, circumcision, a man receiveth, on Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, with me, are ye bitter as gall, because, a whole man, I made, well, on Sabbath?
24 Ne jugez point sur l'apparence, mais jugez selon la justice. "
Be not judging according to appearance, but, just judgment, be judging,
25 Alors quelques habitants de Jérusalem dirent: " N'est-ce pas là celui qu'ils cherchent à faire mourir?
So then, some of them of Jerusalem were saying—Is not, this, he whom they are seeking to kill?
26 Et le voilà qui parle publiquement sans qu'on lui dise rien. Est-ce que vraiment les chefs du peuple auraient reconnu qu'il est le Christ?
And yet, see! with freedom of speech, he is talking, and, nothing, unto him, do they say: —Have the rulers perhaps come to know, of a truth, that, this, is, the Christ?
27 Celui-ci, néanmoins, nous savons d'où il est; mais quand le Christ viendra, personne ne saura d'où il est. "
But, as for this one, we know whence he is; The Christ, however, whensoever he shall come, no one, getteth to know whence he is.
28 Jésus, enseignant dans le temple, dit donc à haute voix: " Vous me connaissez et vous savez d'où je suis!... et pourtant ce n'est pas de moi-même que je suis venu: mais celui qui m'a envoyé est vrai: vous ne le connaissez point;
Jesus, therefore, cried aloud in the temple, teaching, and saying—Both me, ye know, and ye know whence I am, —and yet, of myself, have I not come, but he is real, who sent me, whom, ye, know not.
29 moi, je le connais, parce que je suis de lui, et c'est lui qui m'a envoyé. "
I, know him, because, from him, I am, and, he, sent me forth.
30 Ils cherchèrent donc à le saisir; et personne ne mit la main sur lui, parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.
They were seeking therefore to seize him; and yet no one laid on him his hand, because, not yet, had come his hour.
31 Mais beaucoup, parmi le peuple, crurent en lui, et ils disaient: " Quand le Christ viendra, fera-t-il plus de miracles que n'en a fait celui-ci? "
But, from amongst the multitude, many, believed on him, and were saying—The Christ, whensoever he cometh, greater signs, will he do, than those which, this one, did?
32 Les Pharisiens entendirent la foule murmurant ces choses au sujet de Jésus; alors les Princes des prêtres et les Pharisiens envoyèrent des satellites pour l'arrêter.
The Pharisees hearkened unto the multitude murmuring concerning him these things; and the High-priests and the Pharisees sent forth officers, that they might seize him.
33 Jésus dit: " Je suis encore avec vous un peu de temps, puis je m'en vais à celui qui m'a envoyé.
Jesus, therefore, said—Yet a little time, I am, with you, and withdraw unto him that sent me:
34 Vous me chercherez, et vous ne me trouverez point, et où je suis vous ne pouvez venir. "
Ye shall seek me, and not find me, and, where, I, am, ye, cannot come.
35 Sur quoi les Juifs se dirent entre eux: " Où donc ira-t-il, que nous ne le trouverons point? Ira-t-il vers ceux qui sont dispersés parmi les Gentils, et ira-t-il les instruire?
The Jews, therefore, said unto themselves—Whither, is, this one, about to go, that we shall not find him? Unto the dispersion of the Greeks, is he about to go, and teach the Greeks?
36 Que signifie cette parole qu'il a dite: Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez point, et où je suis, vous ne pouvez venir? "
What, is this which he said: Ye shall seek me and not find me, and, where, I, am, ye, cannot come?
37 Le dernier jour de la fête, qui en est le jour le plus solennel, Jésus debout, dit à haute voix: " Si quelqu'un a soif, qu'il vienne à moi, et qu'il boive.
Now, on the last—the great—day of the feast, Jesus was standing, and he cried aloud, saying—If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink:
38 Celui qui croit en moi, de son sein, comme dit l'Ecriture, couleront des fleuves d'eau vive. "
He that believeth on me—just as said the Scripture, —River, from within him, shall flow, of living water.
39 Il disait cela de l'Esprit que devaient recevoir ceux qui croient en lui; car l'Esprit n'était pas encore donné, parce que Jésus n'avait pas encore été glorifié.
Now, this, spake he concerning the Spirit which they who believed on him were about to receive; for, not yet, was there Spirit, because, Jesus, not yet, was glorified!
40 Parmi la foule, quelques-uns, qui avaient entendu ces paroles, disaient: " C'est vraiment le prophète. "
Some from amongst the multitude, therefore, having hearkened unto these words, were saying—This, is, in truth, the prophet.
41 D'autres: " C'est le Christ. — Mais, disaient les autres, est-ce de la Galilée que doit venir le Christ?
Others, were saying—This, is, the Christ. But, others, were saying—Out of Galilee, is, the Christ, to come?
42 L'Écriture ne dit-elle pas que c'est de la race de David, et du bourg de Bethléem, où était David, que le Christ doit venir? "
Hath not the Scripture said: Of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was, cometh the Christ?
43 C'est ainsi que le peuple était partagé à son sujet.
A division, therefore, arose in the multitude, because of him.
44 Quelques-uns voulaient l'arrêter; mais personne ne mit la main sur lui.
Certain, indeed, from among them, were wishing to seize him; but, no one, thrust upon him his hands.
45 Les satellites étant donc revenus vers les Pontifes et les Pharisiens, ceux-ci leur dirent: " Pourquoi ne l'avez-vous pas amené? "
So then the officers came unto the High-priests and Pharisees, and, they, said unto them—For what cause, have ye not brought him?
46 Les satellites répondirent: " Jamais homme n'a parlé comme cet homme. "
The officers answered—Never, man spake thus!
47 Les Pharisiens leur répliquèrent: " Vous aussi, vous êtes-vous laissés séduire?
The Pharisees, therefore, answered them—Surely, ye also, have not been led astray?
48 Y a-t-il quelqu'un parmi les Princes du peuple qui ait cru en lui? Y en a-t-il parmi les Pharisiens?
Surely, none of the rulers, hath believed in him, nor of the Pharisees?
49 Mais cette populace qui ne connaît pas la Loi, ce sont des maudits! "
But, this multitude, that take no note of the law, are, laid under a curse.
50 Nicodème, l'un d'eux, celui qui était venu de nuit à Jésus, leur dit:
Nicodemus saith unto them—he that came unto him formerly, being, one, from among them—
51 " Notre loi condamne-t-elle un homme sans qu'on l'ait d'abord entendu, et sans qu'on sache ce qu'il a fait? "
Surely, our law, doth not judge the man, unless it hear first from him, and get to know what he is doing?
52 Ils lui répondirent: " Toi aussi, es-tu Galiléen? Examine avec soin les Écritures, et tu verras qu'il ne sort point de prophète de la Galilée. "
They answered and said unto him—Surely, thou also, art not, of Galilee? Search and see! That, out of Galilee, a prophet is not to arise.
53 Et ils s'en retournèrent chacun dans sa maison.
And they went, each unto his own house;
