Isaïe 55

1 O vous tous qui avez soif, venez aux eaux, vous-mêmes qui n'avez pas d'argent; venez, achetez du blé et mangez; venez, achetez sans argent, et sans rien donner en échange, du vin et du lait.

Ho, euery one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and ye that haue no siluer, come, bye and eate: come, I say, bye wine and milke without siluer and without money.

2 Pourquoi dépenser de l'argent pour ce qui n'est pas du pain, votre travail pour ce qui ne rassasie pas? Ecoutez-moi donc, et mangez ce qui est bon, et que votre âme se délecte de mets succulents.

Wherefore doe ye lay out siluer and not for bread? and your labour without being satisfied? hearken diligently vnto me, and eate that which is good, and let your soule delite in fatnes.

3 Prêtez l'oreille et venez à moi; écoutez, et que votre âme vive; et je conclurai avec vous un pacte éternel, vous accordant les grâces assurées à David.

Encline your eares, and come vnto me: heare, and your soule shall liue, and I will make an euerlasting couenant with you, euen the sure mercies of Dauid.

4 Voici que je l'ai établi témoin auprès des peuples, prince et dominateur des peuples.

Beholde, I gaue him for a witnes to the people, for a prince and a master vnto the people.

5 Voici que tu appelleras la nation que tu ne connaissais pas, et les nations qui ne te connaissaient pas accourront à toi, à cause de Yahweh, ton Dieu, et du Saint d'Israël, parce qu'il t'a glorifié!

Beholde, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee, shall runne vnto thee, because of the Lord thy God, and the holy one of Israel: for hee hath glorified thee.

6 Cherchez Yahweh, pendant qu'on peut le trouver; invoquez-le, tandis qu'il est près.

Seeke ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye vpon him while he is neere.

7 Que le méchant abandonne sa voie, et le criminel ses pensées; qu'il revienne à Yahweh, et il lui fera grâce; à notre Dieu, car il pardonne largement.

Let the wicked forsake his wayes, and the vnrighteous his owne imaginations, and returne vnto the Lord, and he wil haue mercy vpon him: and to our God, for hee is very ready to forgiue.

8 Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et vos voies ne sont pas mes voies, — oracle de Yahweh.

For my thoughtes are not your thoughts, neither are your wayes my wayes, sayth the Lord.

9 Autant les cieux sont élevés au-dessus de la terre, autant mes voies sont élevées au-dessus de vos voies et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.

For as ye heauens are higher then the earth, so are my wayes higher then your wayes, and my thoughtes aboue your thoughts.

10 Comme la pluie et la neige descendent du ciel et n'y retournent pas, qu'elles n'aient abreuvé et fécondé la terre et qu'elles ne l'aient fait germer, qu'elles n'aient donné la semence au semeur, et le pain à celui qui mange;

Surely as the raine commeth downe and the snow from heauen, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth and maketh it to bring forth and bud, that it may giue seede to the sower, and bread vnto him that eateth,

11 ainsi en est-il de ma parole qui sort de ma bouche: elle ne revient pas à moi sans effet, mais elle exécute ce que j'ai voulu, et accomplit ce pour quoi je l'ai envoyée.

So shall my worde be, that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not returne vnto me voyde, but it shall accomplish that which I will, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

12 Car vous sortirez pleins de joie, et vous serez conduits en paix; les montagnes et les collines, à votre vue, éclateront de joie, et tous les arbres de la campagne applaudiront.

Therefore ye shall go out with ioy, and be led forth with peace: the mountaines and the hilles shall breake foorth before you into ioye, and all the trees of the fielde shall clap their handes.

13 Au lieu de l'épine s'élèvera le cyprès, et au lieu de la ronce croîtra le myrte; ce sera pour Yahweh un honneur, un monument éternel qui ne sera pas détruit.

For thornes there shall grow firre trees: for nettles shall growe the myrrhe tree, and it shalbe to the Lord for a name, and for an euerlasting signe that shall not be taken away.
