Actes 9
1 Cependant Saul, respirant encore la menace et la mort contre les disciples du Seigneur, alla trouver le grand prêtre
But, Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, going unto the High-priest,
2 et lui demanda des lettres pour les synagogues de Damas, afin que, s'il trouvait des gens de cette croyance, hommes ou femmes, il les amenât enchaînés à Jérusalem.
asked from him letters for Damascus, unto the synagogues; to the end that, if he should find, any, who were of The Way, whether men or women, he might bring them, bound, unto Jerusalem.
3 Comme il était en chemin et qu'il approchait de Damas, tout à coup une lumière venant du ciel resplendit autour de lui.
But, as he was journeying, it came to pass that he was drawing near unto Damascus, and, suddenly, there flashed around him a light out of heaven;
4 Il tomba par terre, et entendit une voix qui lui disait: " Saul, Saul, pourquoi me persécutes-tu? "
And, falling unto the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him—Saul! Saul! why, me, art thou persecuting?
5 Il répondit: " Qui êtes-vous, Seigneur? " Et le Seigneur dit: " Je suis Jésus que tu persécutes. [Il n'est pas bon pour toi de regimber contre l'aiguillon. "
And he said—Who art thou, Lord? And, he, [said] —I, am Jesus, whom, thou, art persecuting!
6 Tremblant et saisi d'effroi, il dit: " Seigneur, que voulez-vous que je fasse? " Le Seigneur lui répondit: ] " Lève-toi et entre dans la ville; là on te dira ce que tu dois faire. "
But rise up, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 Les hommes qui l'accompagnaient demeurèrent saisis de stupeur, car ils percevaient le son de la voix, mais ne voyaient personne.
But, the men who were accompanying him, stood speechless, —hearing, indeed, the voice, but beholding no one.
8 Saul se releva de terre, et bien que ses yeux fussent ouverts, il ne voyait rien; on le prit par la main et on le conduisit à Damas;
And Saul arose from the earth, and, his eyes being opened, he could see nothing; and, taking him by the hand, they led him into Damascus, —
9 et il y fut trois jours sans voir, et sans prendre ni nourriture ni boisson.
And he was three days without seeing, and did neither eat nor drink.
10 Or il y avait à Damas un disciple nommé Ananie. Le Seigneur lui dit dans une vision: " Ananie! " Il répondit: " Me voici, Seigneur. "
Now there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias; and, the Lord, said unto him in a vision—Ananias! And, he, said—Lo! I, [am here], Lord!
11 Et le Seigneur lui dit: " Lève-toi, va dans la rue qu'on appelle la Droite, et cherche dans la maison de Judas un nommé Saul, de Tarse; car il est en prière. "
And the Lord [said] unto him—Rise! go into the street which is called Straight, and seek, in the house of Judas, one Saul, by name, of Tarsus. For lo! he is praying, —
12 (Et il a vu en vision un homme nommé Ananie, qui entrait et lui imposait les mains afin qu'il recouvrât la vue.)
And hath seen a man [in a vision], Ananias by name, coming in and laying on him his hands, to the intent he should see.
13 Ananie répondit: " Seigneur, j'ai appris de plusieurs tout le mal que cet homme a fait à vos saints dans Jérusalem.
And Ananias, answered—Lord! I have heard from many concerning this man, how many evil things unto thy saints he hath done in Jerusalem;
14 Et il a ici, des princes des prêtres, plein pouvoir pour charger de chaînes tous ceux qui invoquent votre nom. "
And, here, he hath authority from the High-priests to bind all them that call upon thy name.
15 Mais le Seigneur lui dit: " Va, car cet homme est un instrument que j'ai choisi, pour porter mon nom devant les nations, devant les rois et devant les enfants d'Israël;
But the Lord said unto him—Be going thy way; for, a choice vessel unto me, is this man, to bear my name before both [the] nations and kings, and the sons of Israel;
16 et je lui montrerai tout ce qu'il doit souffrir pour mon nom. "
For, I, will let him understand how many things he must needs, for my name, suffer.
17 Ananie s'en alla, et arrivé dans la maison, il imposa les mains à Saul, en disant: " Saul, mon frère, le Seigneur Jésus qui t'a apparu sur le chemin par lequel tu venais, m'a envoyé pour que tu recouvres la vue et que tu sois rempli du Saint-Esprit. "
And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and, laying upon him his hands, said—Saul, brother! The Lord, hath sent me, —Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way by which thou wast coming, —that thou mayest recover sight, and be filled with Holy Spirit.
18 Au même instant, il tomba des yeux de Saul comme des écailles, et il recouvra la vue. Il se leva et fut baptisé;
And, straightway, there fell from him—from his eyes, —as it were scales; he recovered sight also, and, arising, was immersed:
19 et après qu'il eut pris de la nourriture, ses forces lui revinrent. Saul passa quelques jours avec les disciples qui étaient à Damas,
And, receiving food, gained strength. And he came to be with the disciples who were in Damascus certain days;
20 et aussitôt il se mit à prêcher dans les synagogues que Jésus est le Fils de Dieu.
And, straightway, in the synagogues, he began proclaiming Jesus, that, This, is the Son of God.
21 Tous ceux qui l'entendaient étaient dans l'étonnement et disaient: " N'est-ce pas lui qui persécutait à Jérusalem ceux qui invoquent ce nom, et n'est-il pas venu ici pour les conduire chargés de chaînes aux princes des prêtres? "
And all who were hearing were astonished, and began to say—is not, this, he who destroyed, in Jerusalem, them that invoke this name; and, here, for this purpose, had come, in order that he might lead them, bound, unto the High-priests?
22 Cependant Saul sentait redoubler son courage, et il confondait les Juifs de Damas, leur démontrant que Jésus est le Christ.
But, Saul, was the more gaining power; and was confounding the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, shewing, by comparison, that—This, is the Christ.
23 Après un temps assez considérable, les Juifs formèrent le dessein de le tuer,
Now, when a considerable number of days were being fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;
24 mais leur complot parvint à la connaissance de Saul. On gardait les portes jour et nuit, afin de le mettre à mort.
But their plot was made known unto Saul, —and they were even narrowly watching the gates, both day and night, that they might kill him;
25 Mais les disciples le prirent pendant la nuit et le descendirent par la muraille, dans une corbeille.
But the disciples, taking him by night, through the wall, let him down, lowering him in a basket.
26 Il se rendit à Jérusalem, et il cherchait à se mettre en rapport avec les disciples; mais tous le craignaient, ne pouvant croire qu'il fût disciple de Jésus.
And, when he had arrived in Jerusalem, he made attempts to join himself unto the disciples; and all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
27 Alors Barnabé, l'ayant pris avec lui, le mena aux Apôtres, et leur raconta comment sur le chemin Saul avait vu le Seigneur, qui lui avait parlé, et avec quel courage il avait, à Damas, prêché le nom de Jésus.
But, Barnabas, taking him, brought him unto the apostles, and related unto them, —how, in the way, he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken unto him; and how, in Damascus, he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.
28 Dès lors Saul allait et venait avec eux dans Jérusalem, et parlait avec assurance au nom du Seigneur.
And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord;
29 Il s'adressait aussi aux Hellénistes et disputait avec eux; mais ceux-ci cherchaient à le mettre à mort.
And was both speaking and discussing with the Grecian Jews, —but, they, were setting to work to kill him.
30 Les frères, l'ayant su, l'emmenèrent à Césarée, d'où ils le firent partir pour Tarse.
And the brethren, discovering it, brought him down into Caesarea, and sent him away unto Tarsus.
31 L'Eglise était en paix dans toute la Judée, la Galilée et la Samarie, se développant et progressant dans la crainte du Seigneur, et elle se multipliait par l'assistance du Saint-Esprit.
So then, the assembly throughout the whole of Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, had peace, building itself up, and going on its way in the fear of the Lord; and, by the advocacy of the Holy Spirit, was being multiplied.
32 Or il arriva que Pierre, visitant les saints de ville en ville, descendit vers ceux qui demeuraient à Lydda.
And it came to pass that, Peter, going through all [quarters] went down unto the saints also dwelling in Lydda.
33 Il y trouva un homme appelé Enée, couché sur un lit depuis huit ans: c'était un paralytique.
And he found there a certain man, by name Aeneas, who, for eight years, had been lying prostrate upon a bed, for he was paralysed.
34 Pierre lui dit: " Enée, Jésus-Christ te guérit; lève-toi, et fais toi-même ton lit. " Et aussitôt il se leva.
And Peter said unto him—Aeneas! Jesus Christ healeth thee! Arise, and smooth thy bed for thyself. And, straightway, he arose.
35 Tous les habitants de Lydda et de Saron le virent, et ils se convertirent au Seigneur.
And all who dwelt in Lydda and Saron, saw him, —and, they, turned unto the Lord.
36 Il y avait à Joppé, parmi les disciples, une femme nommée Tabitha, en grec Dorcas: elle était riche en bonnes œuvres et faisait beaucoup d'aumônes.
Now, in Joppa, there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, which, being translated, means Dorcas [a Gazelle]. The same, was full of good works and alms which she was doing.
37 Elle tomba malade en ce temps-là, et mourut. Après l'avoir lavée, on la déposa dans une chambre haute.
And it came to pass in those days, that she, sickening, died; and, bathing her, they laid her in an upper room.
38 Comme Lydda est près de Joppé, les disciples ayant appris que Pierre s'y trouvait, envoyèrent deux hommes vers lui pour lui adresser cette prière: " Ne tarde pas de venir jusque chez nous. "
Now, Lydda being nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was therein, sent off two men unto him, beseeching him—Do not delay to come through unto us!
39 Pierre se leva et partit avec eux. Dès qu'il fut arrivé, on le conduisit dans la chambre haute, et toutes les veuves l'entourèrent en pleurant, et en lui montrant les tuniques et les vêtements que faisait Dorcas pendant qu'elle était avec elles.
And Peter, arising, went with them, —whom, when he arrived, they brought up into the upper room; and there stood by him all the widows, weeping, and showing the tunics and mantles—whatsoever things Dorcas was making while she was with them.
40 Pierre fit sortir tout le monde, se mit à genoux et pria; puis, se tournant vers le cadavre, il dit: " Tabitha, lève-toi! " Elle ouvrit les yeux, et ayant vu Pierre, elle se mit sur son séant.
But Peter, putting them all outside, knelt down and prayed; and, turning towards the body, said—Tabitha, arise! And she, opening her eyes and seeing Peter, sat up.
41 Pierre lui tendit la main et l'aida à se lever. Et ayant appelé les saints et les veuves, il la leur présenta vivante.
And, giving her his hand, he raised her up; and, calling the saints and the widows, presented her, living.
42 Ce prodige fut connu dans toute la ville de Joppé, et un grand nombre crurent au Seigneur.
And it became known throughout the whole of Joppa, and many believed upon the Lord.
43 Pierre demeura quelque temps à Joppé, chez un corroyeur nommé Simon.
And it came to pass that, for a considerable number of days, he abode in Joppa, with one Simon, a tanner.
