2 Rois 16

1 La dix-septième année de Phacée, fils de Romélias, régna Achaz, fils de Joatham, roi de Juda.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

2 Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, son Dieu, comme avait fait David, son père.

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not do that which was right in the eyes of the LORD his God, like David his father.

3 Mais il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, selon les abominations des nations que Yahweh avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yes, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 Il offrait des sacrifices et des parfums aux hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.

He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 Alors Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélias, roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour l'attaquer. Ils assiégèrent Achaz, mais ils ne purent pas le vaincre.

Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

6 Dans ce même temps, Rasin, roi de Syrie, ramena Elath au pouvoir des Syriens; il expulsa les Juifs d'Elath, et les Syriens vinrent à Elath, où ils ont habité jusqu'à ce jour.

At that time Rezin king of Aram recovered Eilat to Aram, and drove the Jews from Eilat; and the Arameans came to Eilat, and lived there, to this day.

7 Achaz envoya des messagers à Téglathphalasar, roi d'Assyrie, pour lui dire: « Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils; monte et délivre-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d'Israël, qui se sont levés contre moi. »

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me."

8 Et Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qui se trouvaient dans la maison de Yahweh et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il l'envoya en présent au roi d'Assyrie.

Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

9 Le roi d'Assyrie l'écouta, et le roi d'Assyrie monta contre Damas et, l'ayant prise, il en emmena les habitants en captivité à Qir, et il fit mourir Rasin.

The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.

10 Le roi Achaz se rendit à Damas au-devant de Téglathphalasar, roi d'Assyrie. Ayant vu l'autel qui était à Damas, le roi Achaz envoya au prêtre Urias le modèle de l'autel et sa forme selon tout son travail.

King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its workmanship.

11 Le prêtre Urias construisit l'autel; le prêtre Urias le fit entièrement d'après le modèle que le roi Achaz avait envoyé de Damas, avant que le roi ne revienne de Damas.

Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

12 A son arrivée de Damas, le roi vit l'autel. Le roi s'approcha de l'autel et il y monta;

When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near to the altar, and offered on it.

13 il fit brûler son holocauste et son oblation, versa sa libation, et répandit sur l'autel le sang de ses sacrifices pacifiques.

He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, on the altar.

14 Il éloigna de devant la maison, d'entre le nouvel autel et la maison de Yahweh, l'autel d'airain qui était devant Yahweh, et il le plaça à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord.

The bronze altar, which was before the LORD, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of his altar.

15 le roi Achaz donna encore cet ordre au prêtre Urias: « Fais brûler sur le grand autel l'holocauste du matin et l'oblation du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son oblation, l'holocauste de tout le peuple du pays et leur oblation, verses-y leur libation et répands-y tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des sacrifices. Pour ce qui concerne l'autel d'airain, il m'appartiendra d'y pourvoir. »

King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, "On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king's burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by."

16 Le prêtre Urias fit tout ce qu'avait ordonné le roi Achaz.

Urijah the priest did so, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

17 En outre, le roi Achaz brisa les cadres et les bases, et ôta les bassins qui étaient dessus; il descendit la mer d'airain de dessus les bœufs d'airain qui la supportaient, et il la posa sur un pavé de pierres;

King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

18 il changea, dans la maison de Yahweh, par considération pour le roi d'Assyrie, le portique du sabbat, qu'on avait construit dans la maison, et l'entrée extérieure du roi.

The covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry outside, turned he to the house of the LORD, because of the king of Assyria.

19 Le reste des actes d'Achaz, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la cité de David. Ezéchias, son fils, régna à sa place.

Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
