1 Thessaloniciens 1

1 Paul, Sylvain et Timothée à l'Eglise des Thessaloniciens, réunie en Dieu le Père et en Jésus-Christ le Seigneur:

Paul and Silvanus and Timothy—unto the assembly of Thessalonians in God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ, —favour unto you, and peace!

2 à vous, grâce et paix. Nous rendons à Dieu pour vous tous de continuelles actions de grâces, en faisant mémoire de vous dans nos prières,

We are giving thanks unto God continually, concerning you all, making, mention, in our prayers,

3 en rappelant sans cesse devant notre Dieu et Père, les œuvres de votre foi, les sacrifices de votre charité et la constance de votre espérance en Jésus-Christ,

Unceasingly, remembering—your work of faith and labour of love and endurance of hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father:

4 sachant, frères bien-aimés de Dieu, comment vous avez été élus;

Knowing, brethren beloved by God, your election, —

5 car notre prédication de l'Evangile ne vous a pas été faite en parole seulement, mais elle a été accompagnée de miracles, de l'effusion de l'Esprit-Saint et d'une pleine persuasion; vous savez aussi quels nous avons été parmi vous pour votre salut.

How that, our glad-message, came not unto you, in word only, but also in power, and in Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, —even as ye know what manner of men we became unto you, for your sake;

6 Et vous êtes devenus nos imitateurs et ceux du Seigneur, en recevant la parole au milieu de beaucoup de tribulations avec la joie de l'Esprit-Saint,

And, ye, became, imitators of us, and of the Lord, giving welcome unto the word, in much tribulation, with joy of Holy Spirit;

7 au point de devenir un modèle pour tous ceux qui croient dans la Macédoine et dans l'Achaïe.

So that ye became an ensample unto all who were coming to the faith, in Macedonia and in Achaia:

8 En effet, de chez vous, la parole du Seigneur a retenti non seulement dans la Macédoine et dans l'Achaïe, mais partout votre foi en Dieu s'est fait si bien connaître que nous n'avons pas besoin d'en rien dire.

From you, in fact, hath sounded forth the word of the Lord—not only in Macedonia and in Achaia, but, in every place, your faith which is toward God, hath gone forth, so that, no need, have we to be saying anything;

9 Car tous en parlant de nous racontent quel accès nous avons eu auprès de vous, et comment vous vous êtes convertis des idoles au Dieu vivant et vrai, pour le servir,

For, they themselves, concerning us, do tell—what manner of entrance we had unto you, and how ye turned unto God from the idols—to be serving a living and true God,

10 et pour attendre des cieux son Fils, qu'il a ressuscité des morts, Jésus, qui nous sauve de la colère à venir.

And awaiting his Son out of the heavens—whom he raised from among the dead, —Jesus: Who is to rescue us out of the anger that is coming.
