Matthieu 27
1 Dès le matin, tous les Princes des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple tinrent conseil contre Jésus pour le faire mourir.
Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Yeshua to put him to death.
2 Et, l’ayant lié, ils l’emmenèrent et le livrèrent au gouverneur Ponce Pilate.
They bound him, led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
3 Alors Judas, qui l’avait livré, voyant qu’il était condamné, fut touché de repentir, et rapporta les trente pièces d’argent aux Princes des prêtres et aux Anciens,
Then Judah, who betrayed him, when he saw that Yeshua was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 disant: « J’ai péché en livrant le sang innocent. » Ils répondirent: « Que nous importe? Cela te regarde. »
saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You see to it.”
5 Alors, ayant jeté les pièces d’argent dans le Sanctuaire, il se retira et alla se pendre.
He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary and departed. Then he went away and hanged himself.
6 Mais les Princes des prêtres ramassèrent l’argent et dirent: « Il n’est pas permis de le mettre dans le trésor sacré, puisque c’est le prix du sang. »
The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”
7 Et, après s’être consultés entre eux, ils achetèrent avec cet argent le champ du Potier pour la sépulture des étrangers.
They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them to bury strangers in.
8 C’est pourquoi ce champ est encore aujourd’hui appelé Champ du sang.
Therefore that field has been called “The Field of Blood” to this day.
9 Alors fut accomplie la parole du prophète Jérémie: « Ils ont reçu trente pièces d’argent, prix de celui dont les enfants d’Israël ont estimé la valeur;
Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced,
10 et ils les ont données pour le champ du Potier, comme le Seigneur me l’a ordonné. »
and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”
11 Jésus comparut devant le gouverneur, et le gouverneur l’interrogea, en disant: « Es-tu le roi des Juifs? » Jésus lui répondit: « Tu le dis. »
Now Yeshua stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Yeshua said to him, “So you say.”
12 Mais il ne répondait rien aux accusations des Princes des prêtres et des Anciens.
When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13 Alors Pilate lui dit: « N’entends-tu pas de combien de choses ils t’accusent? »
Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?”
14 Mais il ne lui répondit sur aucun grief, de sorte que le gouverneur était dans un grand étonnement.
He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marvelled greatly.
15 À chaque fête de Pâque, le gouverneur avait coutume de relâcher un prisonnier, celui que demandait la foule.
Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner whom they desired.
16 Or ils avaient alors un prisonnier fameux, nommé Barabbas.
They had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.
17 Pilate, ayant fait assembler le peuple, lui dit: « Lequel voulez-vous que je vous délivre, Barabbas ou Jésus qu’on appelle Christ? »
When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Yeshua who is called Messiah?”
18 Car il savait que c’était par envie qu’ils avaient livré Jésus.
For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
19 Pendant qu’il siégeait sur son tribunal, sa femme lui envoya dire: « Qu’il n’y ait rien entre toi et ce juste; car j’ai été aujourd’hui fort tourmentée en songe à cause de lui. »
While he was sitting on the judgement seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.”
20 Mais les Princes des prêtres et les Anciens persuadèrent au peuple de demander Barabbas, et de faire périr Jésus.
Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas and destroy Yeshua.
21 Le gouverneur, prenant la parole, leur dit: « Lequel des deux voulez-vous que je vous délivre? » Ils répondirent: « Barabbas. »
But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!”
22 Pilate leur dit: « Que ferai-je donc de Jésus, appelé Christ? »
Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Yeshua who is called Messiah?” They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!”
23 Ils lui répondirent: « Qu’il soit crucifié! » Le gouverneur leur dit: « Quel mal a-t-il donc fait? » Et ils crièrent encore plus fort: « Qu’il soit crucifié! »
But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!”
24 Pilate, voyant qu’il ne gagnait rien, mais que le tumulte allait croissant, prit de l’eau et se lava les mains devant le peuple, en disant: « Je suis innocent du sang de ce juste; à vous d’en répondre. »
So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”
25 Et tout le peuple dit: « Que son sang soit sur nous et sur nos enfants! »
All the people answered, “May his blood be on us and on our children!”
26 Alors il leur relâcha Barabbas; et, après avoir fait battre de verges Jésus, il le livra pour être crucifié.
Then he released Barabbas to them, but Yeshua he flogged and delivered to be crucified.
27 Les soldats du gouverneur emmenèrent Jésus dans le prétoire, et ils assemblèrent autour de lui toute la cohorte.
Then the governor’s soldiers took Yeshua into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.
28 L’ayant dépouillé de ses vêtements, ils jetèrent sur lui un manteau d’écarlate.
They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.
29 Ils tressèrent une couronne d’épines, qu’ils posèrent sur sa tête, et lui mirent un roseau dans la main droite; puis, fléchissant le genou devant lui, ils lui disaient par dérision: « Salut, roi des Juifs. »
They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they knelt down before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
30 Ils lui crachaient aussi au visage, et prenant le roseau, ils en frappaient sa tête.
They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.
31 Après s’être ainsi joués de lui, ils lui ôtèrent le manteau, lui remirent ses vêtements et l’emmenèrent pour le crucifier.
When they had mocked him, they took the robe off him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.
32 Comme ils sortaient, ils rencontrèrent un homme de Cyrène, nommé Simon, qu’ils réquisitionnèrent pour porter la croix de Jésus.
As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross.
33 Puis, étant arrivés au lieu appelé Golgotha, c’est-à-dire, le lieu du Crâne,
When they came to a place called “Golgotha”, that is to say, “The place of a skull,”
34 ils lui donnèrent à boire du vin mêlé de fiel; mais, l’ayant goûté, il ne voulut pas le boire.
they gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.
35 Quand ils l’eurent crucifié, ils se partagèrent ses vêtements en les tirant au sort, afin que s’accomplit la parole du Prophète: « Ils se sont partagés mes vêtements, et ils ont tiré ma robe au sort. »
When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing amongst them, casting lots,
36 Et, s’étant assis, ils le gardaient.
and they sat and watched him there.
37 Au-dessus de sa tête ils mirent un écriteau indiquant la cause de son supplice: « Celui-ci est Jésus, le roi des Juifs. »
They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS YESHUA, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
38 En même temps, on crucifia avec lui deux brigands, l’un à sa droite et l’autre à sa gauche.
Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.
39 Et les passants l’injuriaient, branlant la tête
Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads
40 et disant: « Toi, qui détruis le temple et le rebâtis en trois jours, sauve-toi toi-même! Si tu es Fils de Dieu, descends de la croix! »
and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
41 Les Princes des prêtres, avec les scribes et les Anciens, le raillaient aussi et disaient:
Likewise the chief priests also mocking with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said,
42 « Il en a sauvé d’autres, et il ne peut se sauver lui-même; s’il est roi d’Israël, qu’il descende maintenant de la croix, et nous croirons en lui.
“He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.
43 Il s’est confié en Dieu; si Dieu l’aime, qu’il le délivre maintenant; car il a dit: Je suis Fils de Dieu. »
He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
44 Les brigands qui étaient en croix avec lui, l’insultaient de la même manière.
The robbers also who were crucified with him cast on him the same reproach.
45 Depuis la sixième heure jusqu’à la neuvième, il y eut des ténèbres sur toute la terre.
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
46 Vers la neuvième heure, Jésus cria d’une voix forte: « Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani, c’est-à-dire, mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m’as-tu abandonné? »
About the ninth hour Yeshua cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
47 Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient là, l’ayant entendu, dirent: « Il appelle Élie. »
Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”
48 Et aussitôt l’un d’eux courut prendre une éponge qu’il emplit de vinaigre, et, l’ayant mise au bout d’un roseau, il lui présenta à boire.
Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.
49 Les autres disaient: « Laisse; voyons si Élie viendra le sauver. »
The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”
50 Jésus poussa de nouveau un grand cri et rendit l’esprit.
Yeshua cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
51 Et voilà que le voile du sanctuaire se déchira en deux, depuis le haut jusqu’en bas, la terre trembla, les rochers se fendirent,
Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.
52 les sépulcres s’ouvrirent, et plusieurs saints, dont les corps y étaient couchés, ressuscitèrent.
The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the holy ones who had fallen asleep were raised;
53 Étant sortis de leur tombeau, ils entrèrent, après la résurrection de Jésus, dans la ville sainte et apparurent à plusieurs.
and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 Le centurion et ceux qui étaient avec lui pour garder Jésus, voyant le tremblement de terre et tout ce qui se passait, furent saisis d’une grande frayeur, et dirent: « Cet homme était vraiment Fils de Dieu. »
Now the centurion and those who were with him watching Yeshua, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were done, were terrified, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
55 Il y avait là aussi plusieurs femmes qui regardaient de loin; elles avaient suivi Jésus depuis la Galilée, pour le servir.
Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Yeshua from Galilee, serving him.
56 Parmi elles étaient Marie-Madeleine, Marie mère de Jacques et de Joseph, et la mère des fils de Zébédée.
Amongst them were Miriam Magdalene, Miriam the mother of Jacob and Yosi, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
57 Sur le soir, arriva un homme riche d’Arimathie, nommé Joseph, qui était aussi un disciple de Jésus.
When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea named Joseph, who himself was also Yeshua’s disciple, came.
58 Il alla trouver Pilate, et lui demanda le corps de Jésus. Et Pilate ordonna qu’on le lui remît.
This man went to Pilate and asked for Yeshua’s body. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up.
59 Joseph prit le corps, l’enveloppa d’un linceul blanc,
Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth
60 et le déposa dans le sépulcre neuf, qu’il avait fait tailler dans le roc pour lui-même; puis, ayant roulé une grosse pierre à l’entrée du sépulcre, il s’en alla.
and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock. Then he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
61 Or Marie-Madeleine et l’autre Marie étaient là, assises vis-à-vis du sépulcre.
Miriam Magdalene was there, and the other Miriam, sitting opposite the tomb.
62 Le lendemain, qui était le samedi, les Princes des prêtres et les Pharisiens allèrent ensemble trouver Pilate,
Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate,
63 et lui dirent: « Seigneur, nous nous sommes rappelés que cet imposteur, lorsqu’il vivait encore, a dit: Après trois jours je ressusciterai;
saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’
64 commandez donc que son sépulcre soit gardé jusqu’au troisième jour, de peur que ses disciples ne viennent dérober le corps et ne disent au peuple: Il est ressuscité des morts. Cette dernière imposture serait pire que la première. »
Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
65 Pilate leur répondit: « Vous avez une garde; allez, gardez-le comme vous l’entendez. »
Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.”
66 Ils s’en allèrent donc et ils s’assurèrent du sépulcre en scellant la pierre et en y mettant des gardes.
So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.
