Luc 6
1 Un jour de sabbat, dit le second-premier, comme Jésus traversait des champs de blé, ses disciples cueillaient des épis, et, les froissant dans leurs mains, les mangeaient.
And it came to pass, on a Sabbath, that he was passing along through cornfields, and his disciples were plucking and eating the ears of corn, rubbing them with their hands.
2 Quelques Pharisiens leur dirent: « Pourquoi faites-vous ce qui n’est pas permis le jour du sabbat? »
But, certain of the Pharisees, said—Why are ye doing what is not allowed on the Sabbath?
3 Jésus leur répondit: « Vous n’avez donc pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu’il eut faim, lui et ceux qui l’accompagnaient:
And, making answer unto them, Jesus said—Have ye never read, even this, what David did when he hungered, he, and they who were with him—
4 comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et prit les pains de proposition, en mangea et en donna à ceux qui étaient avec lui, bien qu’il ne soit permis d’en manger qu’aux prêtres seuls? »
How he entered into the house of God, and, the presence-bread, receiving, did eat, and gave to them who were with him, which it is not allowable to eat, save alone, to the priests?
5 Et il ajouta: « Le Fils de l’homme est maître même du sabbat. »
And he was saying to them—The Son of Man is, Lord of the Sabbath.
6 Un autre jour de sabbat, Jésus entra dans la synagogue et il enseignait. Et il y avait là un homme dont la main droite était desséchée.
And it came to pass, on another Sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and was teaching, and there was a man there, and, his right hand, was withered.
7 Or, les scribes et les Pharisiens l’observaient, pour voir s’il faisait des guérisons le jour du sabbat, afin d’avoir un prétexte pour l’accuser.
Now the Scribes and the Pharisees were narrowly watching him, whether, on the Sabbath, he healeth, —that they might find whereof to accuse him.
8 Mais lui, pénétrant leurs pensées, dit à l’homme qui avait la main desséchée: « Lève-toi, et tiens-toi au milieu «; et lui, s’étant levé, se tint debout.
But, he, knew their reasonings, and said to the man who had the, withered, hand—Arise, and stand forward in the midst! And, arising, he stood forward.
9 Alors Jésus leur dit: « Je vous le demande, est–il permis, le jour du sabbat, de faire du bien ou de faire du mal, de sauver la vie ou de l’ôter? »
And Jesus said unto them—I ask you, whether it is allowed, on the Sabbath, to do good or to do harm, —life, to save, or, to destroy.
10 Puis, promenant son regard sur eux tous, il dit à cet homme: « Etends ta main. » Il l’étendit et sa main redevint saine.
And, looking round upon them all, he said unto him—Stretch forth thy hand! and, he, did so, and his hand was restored.
11 Mais eux, remplis de démence, se consultaient sur ce qu’ils feraient à Jésus.
But, they, were filled with folly, and began conversing one with another, as to, what they might do with Jesus.
12 En ces jours-là, il se retira sur la montagne pour prier, et il passa toute la nuit à prier Dieu.
And it came to pass, in these days, that he went forth into the mountain to pray, and was spending the night in the prayer-house of God.
13 Quand il fut jour, il appela ses disciples, et choisit douze d’entre eux, qu’il nomma apôtres:
And, when it became day, he called his disciples, and chose from them, twelve, whom also he named, Apostles, —
14 Simon, auquel il donna le nom de Pierre, et André son frère, Jacques et Jean, Philippe et Barthélemy,
Simon, whom also he named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;
15 Matthieu et Thomas, Jacques, fils d’Alphée, et Simon, appelé le Zélote,
and Matthew and Thomas; and James, son of Alphaeus, and Simon, who was called Zealot; and Judas, [son] of James,
16 Jude, frère de Jacques, et Judas Iscariote, qui devint traître.
and Judas Iscariot, who became betrayer; —
17 Etant descendu avec eux, il s’arrêta sur un plateau, où se trouvaient une foule de ses disciples et une grande multitude de peuple de toute la Judée, de Jérusalem et de toute la région maritime de Tyr et de Sidon.
and, coming down with them, he stood upon a level place, also a great multitude of his disciples, —and a great throng of the people, from all Judaea and Jerusalem and the sea-coast of Tyre and Zidon, who had come to hearken unto him and to be healed from their diseases;
18 Ils étaient venus pour l’entendre et pour être guéris de leurs maladies. Ceux qui étaient tourmentés par des esprits impurs étaient guéris.
and, they who were molested by impure spirits, were being cured;
19 Et toute cette foule cherchait à le toucher, parce qu’il sortait de lui une vertu qui les guérissait tous.
and, all the multitude, were seeking to touch him, because, power, from him, was coming forth, and healing all.
20 Alors, levant les yeux vers ses disciples, il leur dit: « Heureux, vous qui êtes pauvres, car le royaume des cieux est à vous!
And, he, lifting up his eyes towards his disciples, was saying: —Happy, ye destitute, for, yours, is the kingdom of God.
21 Heureux, vous qui avez faim maintenant, car vous serez rassasiés! Heureux, vous qui pleurez maintenant, car vous serez dans la joie!
Happy, ye that hunger now, for ye shall be filled. Happy, ye that weep now, for ye shall laugh.
22 Heureux serez-vous, lorsque les hommes vous haïront, vous repousseront de leur société, vous chargeront d’opprobre, et rejetteront votre nom comme infâme, à cause du Fils de l’homme.
Happy, are ye, whensoever men shall hate you, and whensoever they shall separate you, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man:
23 Réjouissez-vous en ce jour-là, et tressaillez de joie, car voici que votre récompense est grande dans le ciel: c’est ainsi que leurs pères traitaient les prophètes.
be rejoiced in that day, and leap, for lo! your reward, is great in heaven; for, according to the same things, were their fathers doing unto the prophets.
24 Mais malheur à vous, riches, car vous avez votre consolation!
But alas! for you, ye wealthy, for ye are duly receiving you consolation.
25 Malheur à vous, qui êtes rassasiés, car vous aurez faim! Malheur à vous, qui riez maintenant, car vous serez dans le deuil et dans les larmes!
Alas! for you, ye who are filled full now, for ye shall hunger. Alas! ye that laugh now, for ye shall mourn and weep.
26 Malheur à vous, quand tous les hommes diront du bien de vous, car c’est ce que leurs pères faisaient à l’égard des faux prophètes!
Alas! whensoever all men shall, speak well of you, for, according to the same things, were their fathers doing unto the false prophets.
27 Mais je vous le dis, à vous qui m’écoutez: Aimez vos ennemis; faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent.
But, unto you, I say, who are hearkening: Be loving your enemies; be doing, good, unto them that hate you;
28 Bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, et priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent.
Be blessing them that curse you; be praying for them that wantonly insult you.
29 Si quelqu’un te frappe sur une joue, présente-lui encore l’autre; et si quelqu’un t’enlève ton manteau, ne l’empêche pas de prendre aussi ta tunique.
To him who is smiting thee upon the one cheek, be offering, the other also; and, from him who is taking away thy mantle, thy tunic also, do not forbid:
30 Donne à quiconque te demande, et si l’on te ravit ton bien, ne le réclame point.
To every one asking thee, give, and, from him that taketh away thy possessions, ask them not back.
31 Ce que vous voulez que les hommes fassent pour vous, faites-le pareillement pour eux.
And, according as ye desire that men be doing unto you, be ye doing unto them, in like manner.
32 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? Les pécheurs aussi aiment ceux qui les aiment.
And, if ye love them that love you, what sort of thanks are there for you? for, even sinners, love, such as love them.
33 Et si vous faites du bien à ceux qui vous font du bien, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? Les pécheurs aussi en font autant.
[For], if ye even do good unto them that do good unto you, what sort of thanks are there for you? Even sinners, the same, are doing.
34 Et si vous prêtez à ceux de qui vous espérez recevoir, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? Des pécheurs aussi prêtent à des pécheurs, afin qu’on leur rende l’équivalent.
And, if ye lend to them from whom ye are hoping to receive, what sort of thanks are there for you? Even sinners, unto sinners, do lend, that they may receive back, as much.
35 Pour vous, aimez vos ennemis, faites du bien et prêtez sans rien espérer en retour; et votre récompense sera grande, et vous serez les fils du Très-Haut, qui est bon aux ingrats et aux méchants.
But love your enemies, and do good and lend, hoping for, nothing, back; and your reward shall be, great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High, —for, he, is, gracious, unto the ungrateful and wicked.
36 Soyez donc miséricordieux, comme votre Père est miséricordieux.
Become ye compassionate, according as, your Father, is, compassionate;
37 Ne jugez pas, et vous ne serez pas jugés; ne condamnez pas, et vous ne serez pas condamnés; remettez et il vous sera remis.
And do not judge, and in nowise shall ye be judged; and do not condemn, and in nowise shall ye be condemned; release, and ye shall be released;
38 Donnez, et il vous sera donné: on versera dans votre sein une bonne mesure, pressée, secouée et débordante, car on se servira, pour vous rendre, de la même mesure avec laquelle vous aurez mesuré. »
Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will they give into your lap; for, with what measure ye mete, shall it be measured back unto you.
39 Il leur fit encore cette comparaison: « Un aveugle peut-il conduire un aveugle? Ne tomberont-ils pas tous les deux dans la fosse?
He spake, moreover, a parable also, unto them: Can, the blind, guide, the blind? will not, both, fall into, a ditch?
40 Le disciple n’est pas au-dessus du maître; mais tout disciple, son instruction achevée, sera comme son maître.
A disciple is not above the teacher; but, when trained, every one shall be as his teacher.
41 Pourquoi regardes-tu la paille qui est dans l’œil de ton frère, et ne remarques-tu pas la poutre qui est dans ton œil?
But why beholdest thou the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, while, the beam that is in thine own eye, thou dost not consider?
42 Ou comment peux-tu dire à ton frère: Mon frère, laisse-moi ôter cette paille de ton œil, toi qui ne vois pas la poutre qui est dans le tien? Hypocrite, ôte d’abord la poutre de ton œil, et tu verras ensuite à ôter la paille qui est dans l’œil de ton frère.
How canst thou say to thy brother—Brother! let me cast out the mote that is in thine eye, —thyself, the beam in thine own eye, not beholding? Hypocrite! cast out, first, the beam out of thine own eye, and, then, shalt thou see clearly, to cast out, the mote that is in the eye of thy brother.
43 En effet, il n’y a pas de bon arbre qui porte de mauvais fruits, ni de mauvais arbre qui porte de bons fruits;
For a good tree doth not produce worthless fruit, neither again doth, a worthless tree, produce good fruit.
44 chaque arbre se reconnaît à son fruit. On ne cueille pas de figues sur les épines; on ne coupe pas de raisin sur les ronces.
For, every tree, by its own fruit, becometh known. For not, of thorns, do they gather figs, neither, of a bramble-bush, do they gather, a bunch of grapes.
45 L’homme bon tire le bien du bon trésor de son cœur; et, de son mauvais trésor, l’homme méchant tire le mal; car la bouche parle de l’abondance du cœur.
The good man, out of the good treasure of the heart, bringeth forth that which is good; and, the wicked man, out of the wicked heart, bringeth forth that which is wicked; for, out of an overflowing of heart, speaketh, his mouth.
46 Pourquoi m’appelez-vous Seigneur, Seigneur, et ne faites-vous pas ce que je dis?
And why call ye me, Lord! Lord! and not do the things that I say?
47 Tout homme qui vient à moi, qui écoute mes paroles, et les met en pratique, je vous montrerai à qui il est semblable.
Every one coming unto me, and hearkening unto my words, and doing them, I will suggest to you, whom he is like:
48 Il est semblable à un homme qui, bâtissant une maison, a creusé bien avant, et en a posé les fondements sur le roc. Une inondation étant survenue, le torrent s’est jeté contre cette maison, et il n’a pu l’ébranler, parce qu’elle était fondée sur le roc.
He is like unto a man building a house, who digged, and deepened, and laid a foundation upon the rock, —and, a flood, coming, the stream burst against that house, and was not strong enough to shake it, because it had been, well, built.
49 Mais celui qui écoute et ne met pas en pratique, est semblable à un homme qui a bâti sa maison sur la terre, sans fondements; le torrent est venu se heurter contre elle, et elle est tombée aussitôt, et grande a été la ruine de cette maison. »
But, he that hath heard and not done, is like unto a man having built a house upon the earth, without a foundation, —against which the stream burst, and, straightway, it fell in; and it came to pass, that, the crash of that house, was, great.
