Luc 19
1 Jésus étant entré dans Jéricho, traversait la ville.
Now when Iesus entred and passed through Iericho,
2 Et voilà qu’un homme appelé Zachée, — c’était un chef de publicains et il était riche, —
Beholde, there was a man named Zaccheus, which was the chiefe receiuer of the tribute, and he was riche.
3 cherchait à voir qui était Jésus; et il ne le pouvait à cause de la foule, car il était de petite taille.
And he sought to see Iesus, who hee should be, and coulde not for the preasse, because he was of a lowe stature.
4 Courant donc en avant, il monta sur un sycomore pour le voir, parce qu’il devait passer par là.
Wherefore he ranne before, and climed vp into a wilde figge tree, that he might see him: for he should come that way.
5 Arrivé à cet endroit, Jésus leva les yeux, et l’ayant vu, il lui dit: « Zachée, descends vite, car il faut que je loge aujourd’hui dans ta maison. »
And when Iesus came to the place, he looked vp, and saw him, and said vnto him, Zaccheus, come downe at once: for to day I must abide at thine house.
6 Zachée se hâta de descendre et le reçut avec joie.
Then he came downe hastily, and receiued him ioyfully.
7 Voyant cela, ils murmuraient tous en disant: « Il est allé loger chez un pécheur. »
And when all they sawe it, they murmured, saying, that hee was gone in to lodge with a sinfull man.
8 Mais Zachée, se présentant devant le Seigneur, lui dit: « Voici, Seigneur, que je donne aux pauvres la moitié de mes biens; et si j’ai fait tort de quelque chose à quelqu’un, je lui rends le quadruple. »
And Zaccheus stood forth, and said vnto the Lord, Beholde, Lord, the halfe of my goods I giue to the poore: and if I haue taken from any man by forged cauillation, I restore him foure folde.
9 Jésus lui dit: « Le salut est venu aujourd’hui pour cette maison, parce que celui-ci est aussi un fils d’Abraham.
Then Iesus said to him, This day is saluation come vnto this house, forasmuch as hee is also become the sonne of Abraham.
10 Car le Fils de l’homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu. »
For the Sonne of man is come to seeke, and to saue that which was lost.
11 Comme ils écoutaient ce discours, il ajouta une parabole, parce qu’il était près de Jérusalem, et que le peuple pensait que le royaume de Dieu allait bientôt paraître.
And whiles they heard these thinges, hee continued and spake a parable, because hee was neere to Hierusalem, and because also they thought that the kingdom of God should shortly appeare.
12 Il dit donc: « Un homme de grande naissance s’en alla dans un pays lointain pour être investi de la royauté et revenir ensuite.
He saide therefore, A certaine noble man went into a farre countrey, to receiue for himselfe a kingdome, and so to come againe.
13 Ayant appelé dix de ses serviteurs, il leur donna dix mines, et leur dit: Faites-les valoir, jusqu’à ce que je revienne.
And he called his ten seruants, and deliuered them ten pieces of money, and sayd vnto them, Occupie till I come.
14 Mais ses concitoyens le haïssaient, et ils envoyèrent après lui des députés chargés de dire: Nous ne voulons pas que cet homme règne sur nous.
Nowe his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassage after him, saying, We will not haue this man to reigne ouer vs.
15 Quand il fut de retour, après avoir été investi de la royauté, il se fit appeler les serviteurs auxquels il avait donné l’argent, pour savoir quel profit chacun en avait tiré.
And it came to passe, when hee was come againe, and had receiued his kingdome, that he commanded the seruants to be called to him, to whome he gaue his money, that he might knowe what euery man had gained.
16 Le premier vint et dit: Seigneur, votre mine a gagné dix autres mines.
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy piece hath encreased ten pieces.
17 Il lui dit: C’est bien, bon serviteur; parce que tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, reçois le gouvernement de dix villes.
And he sayd vnto him, Well, good seruant: because thou hast bene faithfull in a very litle thing, take thou authoritie ouer ten cities.
18 Le second vint et dit: Seigneur, votre mine a produit cinq autres mines.
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy piece hath encreased fiue pieces.
19 Toi aussi lui dit-il, gouverne cinq villes.
And to the same he sayd, Be thou also ruler ouer fiue cities.
20 Puis un autre vint et dit: Seigneur, voici votre mine que j’ai gardée en dépôt dans un linge.
So the other came, and sayd, Lord, beholde thy piece, which I haue laide vp in a napkin:
21 Car j’avais peur de toi, parce que tu es un homme rigide: tu retires ce que tu n’as pas déposé, et tu moissonnes ce que tu n’as pas semé.
For I feared thee, because thou art a straight man: thou takest vp, that thou layedst not downe, and reapest that thou diddest not sowe.
22 Le roi lui répondit: e te juge sur tes paroles, méchant serviteur. Tu savais que je suis un homme rigide, retirant ce que je n’ai pas déposé, et moissonnant ce que je n’ai pas semé;
Then he sayde vnto him, Of thine owne mouth will I iudge thee, O euill seruant. Thou knewest that I am a straight man, taking vp that I layd not downe, and reaping that I did not sowe.
23 pourquoi donc n’as-tu pas mis mon argent à la banque? Et à mon retour, je l’aurais retiré avec les intérêts.
Wherefore then gauest not thou my money into the banke, that at my coming I might haue required it with vantage?
24 Et il dit à ceux qui étaient là: Ôtez-lui la mine, et donnez-la à celui qui en a dix.
And he sayd to them that stoode by, Take from him that piece, and giue it him that hath ten pieces.
25 — Seigneur, lui dirent-ils, il en a dix. —
(And they sayd vnto him, Lord, hee hath ten pieces.)
26 Je vous le dis, à quiconque possède, on donnera; et à celui qui n’a pas, on ôtera même ce qu’il a.
For I say vnto you, that vnto all them that haue, it shalbe giuen: and from him that hath not, euen that he hath, shalbe taken from him.
27 Quant à ces gens qui me haïssent et n’ont pas voulu m’avoir pour roi, amenez-les ici, et égorgez-les en ma présence. »
Moreouer, those mine enemies, which would not that I should reigne ouer them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
28 Après ce discours, Jésus se mit à marcher en avant, pour monter à Jérusalem.
And when he had thus spoken, he went forth before, ascending vp to Hierusalem.
29 Lorsqu’il approcha de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers la montagne appelée des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples,
And it came to passe, when hee was come neere to Bethphage, and Bethania, besides the mount which is called the mount of Oliues, he sent two of his disciples,
30 en disant: « Allez au village qui est en face; en y entrant, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel aucun homme ne s’est jamais assis; détachez-le et l’amenez.
Saying, Goe ye to the towne which is before you, wherein, assoone as ye are come, ye shall finde a colte tied, whereon neuer man sate: loose him, and bring him hither.
31 Et si quelqu’un vous demande pourquoi vous le détachez, vous répondrez: Parce que le Seigneur en a besoin. »
And if any man aske you, why ye loose him, thus shall ye say vnto him, Because the Lord hath neede of him.
32 Ceux qui étaient envoyés partirent et trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit.
So they that were sent, went their way, and found it as he had sayd vnto them.
33 Comme ils détachaient l’ânon, ses maîtres leur dirent: « Pourquoi détachez-vous cet ânon? »
And as they were loosing the colte, the owners thereof sayd vnto them, Why loose ye the colte?
34 Ils répondirent: « Parce que le Seigneur en a besoin. »
And they sayd, The Lord hath neede of him.
35 Et ils l’amenèrent à Jésus; puis, ayant jeté leurs manteaux sur l’ânon, ils y firent monter Jésus.
So they brought him to Iesus, and they cast their garments on the colte, and set Iesus thereon.
36 A son passage les gens étendaient leurs manteaux sur la route.
And as he went, they spred their clothes in the way.
37 Lorsqu’il était déjà près de la descente du mont des Oliviers, toute la foule des disciples, transportés de joie, se mit à louer Dieu à haute voix pour tous les miracles qu’ils avaient vus.
And when he was nowe come neere to the going downe of the mount of Oliues, the whole multitude of the disciples began to reioyce, and to prayse God with a loude voyce, for all the great workes that they had seene,
38 « Béni soit, disaient-ils, le roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Paix dans le ciel, et gloire au plus haut des cieux! »
Saying, Blessed be the King that commeth in the Name of the Lord: peace in heauen, and glory in the highest places.
39 Alors quelques Pharisiens, au milieu de la foule, dirent à Jésus: « Maître, réprimandez vos disciples. »
Then some of the Pharises of the companie sayd vnto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 Il leur répondit: « Je vous le dis, si eux se taisent, les pierres crieront. »
But he answered, and sayd vnto them, I tell you, that if these should holde their peace, the stones would crie.
41 Et lorsque, s’étant approché, il aperçut Jérusalem, il pleura sur elle, en disant:
And when he was come neere, he behelde the Citie, and wept for it,
42 « Si tu connaissais, toi aussi, du moins en ce jour qui t’est donné, ce qui ferait ta paix! Mais maintenant ces choses sont cachées à tes yeux.
Saying, O if thou haddest euen knowen at the least in this thy day those things, which belong vnto thy peace! but nowe are they hid from thine eyes.
43 Viendront sur toi des jours où tes ennemis t’environneront de tranchées, t’investiront et te serreront de toutes parts;
For the dayes shall come vpon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compasse thee round, and keepe thee in on euery side,
44 ils te renverseront par terre, toi et tes enfants qui sont dans ton sein, et ils ne laisseront pas dans ton enceinte pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n’as pas connu le temps où tu as été visitée. »
And shall make thee euen with ye ground, and thy children which are in thee, and they shall not leaue in thee a stone vpon a stone, because thou knewest not that season of thy visitation.
45 Étant entré dans le temple, il se mit à chasser ceux qui y vendaient et y achetaient,
He went also into the Temple, and began to cast out them that solde therein, and them that bought,
46 leur disant: « Il est écrit: Ma maison est une maison de prière, et vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs. »
Saying vnto them, It is written, Mine house is the house of prayer, but ye haue made it a denne of theeues.
47 Jésus passait les journées à enseigner dans le temple. Et les Princes des prêtres, les scribes et les principaux du peuple cherchaient à le perdre;
And he taught dayly in the Temple. And the hie Priests and the Scribes, and the chiefe of the people sought to destroy him.
48 mais ils ne savaient comment s’y prendre, car tout le peuple l’écoutait avec ravissement.
But they could not finde what they might doe to him: for all the people hanged vpon him when they heard him.
