Luc 19
1 Il entra et traversa Jéricho.
And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2 Il y avait là un homme nommé Zachée. C'était un grand collecteur d'impôts, et il était riche.
And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the tax collectors, and he was rich.
3 Il cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, mais il ne pouvait pas à cause de la foule, car il était de petite taille.
And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because he was little of stature.
4 Il courut donc en avant et grimpa sur un sycomore pour le voir, car il allait passer par là.
And he ran before, and climbed up upon a sycamore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5 Lorsque Jésus arriva à cet endroit, il leva les yeux et le vit, et il lui dit: « Zachée, dépêche-toi de descendre, car aujourd'hui je dois rester chez toi. »
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 Il se hâta, descendit et le reçut avec joie.
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 Quand ils le virent, ils murmurèrent tous, disant: « Il est entré pour loger chez un homme qui est un pécheur. »
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 Zachée, debout, dit au Seigneur: « Voici, Seigneur, la moitié de mes biens, je la donne aux pauvres. Si j'ai exigé injustement quelque chose de quelqu'un, je lui rends quatre fois plus. »
And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 Jésus lui dit: « Aujourd'hui, le salut est arrivé à cette maison, car lui aussi est fils d'Abraham.
And Jesus said to him, This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
10 Car le Fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu. »
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11 Comme ils entendaient ces choses, il poursuivit et raconta une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'ils supposaient que le Royaume de Dieu allait être révélé immédiatement.
And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 Il dit donc: « Un certain noble s'en alla dans un pays lointain pour recevoir un royaume et s'en retourner.
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Il appela dix de ses serviteurs, leur donna dix pièces de mina et leur dit: « Occupez-vous de vos affaires jusqu'à ce que je vienne.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said to them, Occupy till I come.
14 Mais ses concitoyens le haïssaient et envoyèrent un émissaire à sa poursuite en disant: 'Nous ne voulons pas que cet homme règne sur nous.'
But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15 « Lorsqu'il fut de retour, après avoir reçu le royaume, il ordonna que ces serviteurs, à qui il avait donné l'argent, soient appelés auprès de lui, afin qu'il sache ce qu'ils avaient gagné en faisant des affaires.
And it came to pass, that when he had returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 Le premier se présenta devant lui et dit: « Seigneur, ton mina a fait dix autres minas.
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17 Il lui dit: « C'est bien, bon serviteur. Parce que tu as été trouvé fidèle avec très peu de choses, tu auras autorité sur dix villes.
And he said to him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18 « Le second vint, disant: « Ton mina, Seigneur, a fait cinq minas ».
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19 Il lui dit: « Et toi, tu seras à la tête de cinq villes ».
And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20 Un autre vint, disant: « Seigneur, voici ta mina, que j'ai gardée dans un mouchoir,
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21 car je te craignais, parce que tu es un homme exigeant. Tu ramasses ce que tu n'as pas déposé, et tu récoltes ce que tu n'as pas semé.
For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow.
22 Il lui dit: « C'est de ta propre bouche que je te jugerai, méchant serviteur! Tu savais que je suis un homme exigeant, prenant ce que je n'ai pas déposé et récoltant ce que je n'ai pas semé.
And he saith to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow:
23 Alors, pourquoi n'as-tu pas déposé mon argent à la banque, pour qu'à mon retour, j'en tire un intérêt?
Why then gavest thou not my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest?
24 Il dit à ceux qui se tenaient là: « Enlève-lui le mina et donne-le à celui qui a les dix minas.
And he said to them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25 Ils lui dirent: « Seigneur, il a dix mines!
( And they said to him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26 Car, je vous le dis, à quiconque a quelque chose, on donnera davantage; mais à celui qui n'a rien, on enlèvera même ce qu'il a.
For I say to you, That to every one who hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even what he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 Mais amène ici ceux de mes ennemis qui n'ont pas voulu que je règne sur eux, et tue-les devant moi. »
But those my enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me.
28 Ayant dit ces choses, il se mit en route, montant à Jérusalem.
And when he had thus spoken, he went before, going up to Jerusalem.
29 Lorsqu'il approcha de Bethsphage et de Béthanie, sur la montagne appelée des Oliviers, il envoya deux de ses disciples,
And it came to pass, when he had come near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
30 en disant: « Allez de l'autre côté du village, où vous trouverez, en entrant, un ânon attaché, sur lequel personne ne s'est jamais assis. Détachez-le et amenez-le.
Saying, Go ye into the village opposite you; in which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, on which yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.
31 Si quelqu'un vous demande: « Pourquoi le détachez-vous? », dites-lui: « Le Seigneur en a besoin. »
And if any man shall ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say to him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
32 Ceux qui avaient été envoyés s'en allèrent et trouvèrent les choses exactement comme il les avait dites.
And they that were sent went, and found even as he had said to them.
33 Comme ils détachaient l'ânon, ses propriétaires leur dirent: « Pourquoi détachez-vous l'ânon? »
And as they were loosing the colt, its owners said to them, Why loose ye the colt?
34 Ils répondirent: « Le Seigneur en a besoin. »
And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
35 Puis ils l'amenèrent à Jésus. Ils jetèrent leurs manteaux sur l'ânon, et firent asseoir Jésus dessus.
And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus on it.
36 Pendant qu'il allait, ils étendirent leurs manteaux sur la route.
And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 Comme il approchait de la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la multitude des disciples se mit à se réjouir et à louer Dieu à haute voix pour toutes les merveilles qu'ils avaient vues,
And when he had come near, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 en disant: Béni soit le Roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Paix dans les cieux, et gloire au plus haut des cieux! »
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 Quelques pharisiens de la foule lui dirent: « Maître, reprends tes disciples! »
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 Il leur répondit: « Je vous le dis, si elles se taisaient, les pierres crieraient. »
And he answered and said to them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
41 Lorsqu'il s'approcha, il vit la ville et il pleura sur elle,
And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 en disant: « Si tu avais su aujourd'hui les choses qui appartiennent à ta paix! Mais maintenant, elles sont cachées à tes yeux.
Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thy eyes.
43 Car il viendra sur toi des jours où tes ennemis dresseront contre toi une barricade, t'entoureront, t'enserreront de toutes parts,
For the days shall come upon thee, that thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and surround thee, and keep thee in on every side,
44 et te précipiteront par terre, toi et tes enfants qui sont en toi. Ils ne laisseront pas en toi une pierre sur l'autre, parce que tu n'as pas connu le moment de ton châtiment. »
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
45 Il entra dans le temple et se mit à chasser ceux qui y achetaient et vendaient,
And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold in it, and them that bought;
46 en leur disant: « Il est écrit: « Ma maison est une maison de prière", mais vous en avez fait une « caverne de voleurs ». »
Saying to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
47 Il enseignait chaque jour dans le temple, mais les chefs des prêtres, les scribes et les principaux du peuple cherchaient à le faire périr.
And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
48 Ils ne trouvaient pas ce qu'ils pouvaient faire, car tout le peuple était attaché à chacune de ses paroles.
And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
