Genèse 11
1 Toute la terre avait une seule langue et un seul langage.
And all the world was of one tonge and one language.
2 Comme ils voyageaient vers l'est, ils trouvèrent une plaine dans le pays de Shinar, et ils y habitèrent.
And as they came from the east they founde a playne in the lande of Synear and there they dwelled.
3 Ils se dirent les uns aux autres: « Venez, faisons des briques, et brûlons-les bien. » Ils avaient la brique pour pierre, et le goudron pour mortier.
And they sayd one to a nother: come on let us make brycke ad burne it wyth fyre. So brycke was there stone and slyme was there morter
4 Ils dirent: « Venez, bâtissons-nous une ville et une tour dont le sommet atteint le ciel, et faisons-nous un nom, de peur que nous ne soyons dispersés sur la surface de toute la terre. »
And they sayd: Come on let vs buylde vs a cyte and a toure that the toppe may reach vnto heauen. And let vs make us a name for perauenture we shall be scatered abrode over all the erth.
5 Yahvé descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que les enfants des hommes avaient bâties.
And the LORde came downe to see the cyte and the toure which the childern of Ada had buylded.
6 L'Éternel dit: « Voici, ils forment un seul peuple, et ils ont tous une seule langue, et voici ce qu'ils commencent à faire. Maintenant, rien ne leur sera refusé de ce qu'ils ont l'intention de faire.
And the LORde sayd: See the people is one and haue one tonge amonge them all. And thys haue they begon to do and wyll not leaue of from all that they haue purposed to do.
7 Venez, descendons, et là nous confondrons leur langue, afin qu'ils ne comprennent pas le langage les uns des autres. »
Come on let vs descende and myngell theire tonge even there that one vnderstonde not what a nother sayeth.
8 Yahvé les dispersa donc à partir de là sur la surface de toute la terre. Ils cessèrent de construire la ville.
Thus ye LORde skatered them from thence vppon all the erth. And they left of to buylde the cyte.
9 C'est pourquoi on l'appela Babel, parce que Yahvé y confondit le langage de toute la terre. De là, Yahvé les dispersa sur la surface de toute la terre.
Wherfore the name of it is called Babell because that the LORDE there confounded the tonge of all the world. And because that the LORde from thence skatered them abrode vppon all the erth.
10 Voici l'histoire des générations de Sem: Sem était âgé de cent ans lorsqu'il engendra Arpachshad, deux ans après le déluge.
These are the generations of Sem: Se was an hundred yere olde and begat Arcphachsad ij. yere after the floude.
11 Sem vécut cinq cents ans après avoir engendré Arpacshad, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
And Se lyved after he had begot Arphachsad. v. hundred yere an begat sonnes and doughters.
12 Arpacshad vécut trente-cinq ans, et il engendra Shéla.
And Arphacsad lyued. xxxv. yere and begat Sala
13 Arpacshad vécut quatre cent trois ans après avoir engendré Shéla, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyved after he had begot Sala iiij. hudred yere and. iij and begat sonnes and doughters.
14 Shéla vécut trente ans, et il engendra Eber.
And Sala was. xxx. yere old and begat Eber
15 Shéla vécut quatre cent trois ans après avoir engendré Eber, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
ad lyued after he had begot Eber. iiij. hudred and thre yere ad begat sonnes and doughters
16 Eber vécut trente-quatre ans, et devint le père de Péleg.
When Eber was. xxxiiij. yere olde he begat Peleg
17 Eber vécut quatre cent trente ans après avoir engendré Peleg, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyued after he had begot Peleg foure hundred and. xxx. yere and begat sonnes and doughters.
18 Péleg vécut trente ans et devint le père de Reu.
And Peleg when he was. xxx. yere olde begat Regu
19 Péleg vécut deux cent neuf ans après avoir engendré Reu, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyued after he had begot Regu. ij. hundred and. ix. yere and begat sonnes and doughters.
20 Reu vécut trente-deux ans, et devint le père de Serug.
And Regu when he had lyued. xxxij. yere begat Serug
21 Reu vécut deux cent sept ans après avoir engendré Serug, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyued after he had begot Serug. ij. hundred and. vij. yere and begat sonnes and doughters.
22 Serug vécut trente ans, et devint le père de Nachor.
And when Serug was. xxx. yere olde he begat Nahor
23 Serug vécut deux cents ans après avoir engendré Nachor, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyued after he had begot Nahor. ij. hundred yere and begat sonnes and doughters.
24 Nachor vécut vingt-neuf ans, et devint le père de Térah.
And Nahor when he was. xxix. yere olde begat Terah
25 Nachor vécut cent dix-neuf ans après avoir engendré Térah, et il engendra d'autres fils et d'autres filles.
and lyved after he had begot Terah an hundred and. xix. yere and begat sonnes and doughters.
26 Térah vécut soixante-dix ans et devint le père d'Abram, de Nahor et de Haran.
And when Terah was. lxx. yere olde he begat Abram Nahor and Haran.
27 Voici l'histoire des générations de Térah. Térah est le père d'Abram, de Nahor et de Haran. Haran est le père de Lot.
And these are the generations of Terah. Terah begat Abram Nahor and Haran. And Haran begat Lot.
28 Haran mourut dans le pays où il était né, à Ur des Chaldéens, alors que son père Térah vivait encore.
And Haran dyed before Terah his father in the londe where he was borne at Vr in Chaldea.
29 Abram et Nachor épousèrent des femmes. Le nom de la femme d'Abram était Saraï, et le nom de la femme de Nachor était Milca, fille de Haran, qui était aussi le père d'Isca.
And Abram and Nahor toke them wyves. Abras wyfe was called Sarai. And Nahors wyfe Mylca the doughter of Haran which was father of Milca ad of Iisca.
30 Saraï était stérile. Elle n'avait pas d'enfant.
But Sarai was baren and had no childe.
31 Térah prit Abram, son fils, Lot, fils de Haran, fils de son fils, et Saraï, sa belle-fille, femme de son fils Abram. Ils partirent d'Ur des Chaldéens, pour aller au pays de Canaan. Ils arrivèrent à Haran et y habitèrent.
Than toke Terah Abram his sonne and Lot his sonne Harans sonne and Sarai his doughter in lawe his sone Abrams wyfe. And they went wyth hym from Vr in Chaldea to go in to the lade of Chanaan. And they came to Haran and dwelled there.
32 Les jours de Térah furent de deux cent cinq ans. Térah mourut à Haran.
And when Terah was ij. hundred yere old and. v. he dyed in Haran.
