Deutéronome 32
1 Cieux, prêtez l'oreille, et je parlerai. Que la terre entende les paroles de ma bouche.
Attend, O heaven, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth.
2 Ma doctrine tombera comme la pluie. Mon discours se condensera comme la rosée, comme la pluie brumeuse sur l'herbe tendre, comme les averses sur l'herbe.
Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass.
3 Car je proclamerai le nom de Yahvé. Attribuez la grandeur à notre Dieu!
For I have called on the name of the Lord: assign you greatness to our God.
4 The Rock: son travail est parfait, car toutes ses voies sont justes. Un Dieu de fidélité qui ne fait pas de mal, Il est juste et droit.
[As for God], his works [are] true, and all his ways [are] judgement: God [is] faithful, and there is no unrighteousness [in him]; just and holy [is] the Lord.
5 Ils l'ont corrompu. Ils ne sont pas ses enfants, à cause de leur défaut. C'est une génération perverse et tordue.
They have sinned, not [pleasing] him; spotted children, a froward and perverse generation.
6 Est-ce ainsi que vous remboursez Yahvé, des gens stupides et imprudents? N'est-ce pas ton père qui t'a acheté? Il vous a fait et vous a établi.
Do you thus recompense the Lord? [is the] people thus foolish and unwise? did not he himself your father purchase you, and make you, and form you?
7 Souviens-toi des jours d'autrefois. Considérez les années de plusieurs générations. Demande à ton père, et il te montrera; vos aînés, et ils vous le diront.
Remember the days of old, consider the years for past ages: ask your father, and he shall relate to you, your elders, and they shall tell you.
8 Quand le Très-Haut donna aux nations leur héritage, quand il a séparé les enfants des hommes, il a fixé les limites des peuples selon le nombre des enfants d'Israël.
When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God.
9 Car le partage de Yahvé, c'est son peuple. Jacob est le lot de son héritage.
And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of his inheritance.
10 Il le trouva dans une terre déserte, dans le désert hurlant. Il l'a entouré. Il se souciait de lui. Il l'a gardé comme la prunelle de ses yeux.
He maintained him in the wilderness, in burning thirst and a dry land: he led him about and instructed him, and kept him as the apple of an eye.
11 Comme un aigle qui remue son nid, qui flottent sur ses jeunes, il a déployé ses ailes, il les a pris, il les portait sur ses plumes.
As an eagle would watch over his brood, and yearns over his young, receives them having spread his wings, and takes them up on his back:
12 Yahvé seul l'a conduit. Il n'y avait pas de dieu étranger avec lui.
the Lord alone led them, there was no strange god with them.
13 Il l'a fait monter sur les hauts lieux de la terre. Il a mangé les fruits des champs. Il lui a fait sucer le miel de la roche, l'huile de la roche silex;
He brought them up on the strength of the land; he fed them with the fruits of the fields; they sucked honey out of the rock, and oil out of the solid rock.
14 le beurre du troupeau, et le lait du troupeau, avec de la graisse d'agneau, des béliers de la race de Bashan, et des chèvres, avec le meilleur des blés. Du sang du raisin, vous avez bu du vin.
Butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with the fat of lambs and rams, of calves and kids, with fat of kidneys of wheat; and he drank wine, the blood of the grape.
15 Mais Jeshurun devint gras, et donna des coups de pied. Tu as grossi. Tu es devenu épais. Vous êtes devenu élégant. Puis il a abandonné Dieu qui l'a créé, et a rejeté le Rocher de son salut.
So Jacob ate and was filled, and the beloved one kicked; he grew fat, he became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Saviour.
16 Ils l'ont excité à la jalousie avec des dieux étrangers. Ils l'ont irrité par des abominations.
They provoked me to anger with strange gods; with their abominations they bitterly angered me.
17 Ils sacrifiaient aux démons, pas à Dieu, à des dieux qu'ils ne connaissaient pas, aux nouveaux dieux qui sont apparus récemment, que vos pères n'ont pas redouté.
They sacrificed to devils, and not to God; to gods whom they knew not: new and fresh [gods] came in, whom their fathers knew not.
18 Vous ne vous souvenez pas du Rocher qui est devenu votre père, et vous avez oublié le Dieu qui vous a donné la vie.
You have forsaken God that begot you, and forgotten God who feeds you.
19 L'Éternel a vu et abhorré, à cause de la provocation de ses fils et de ses filles.
And the Lord saw, and was jealous; and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters,
20 Il a dit: « Je leur cacherai ma face. Je verrai ce que sera leur fin; car c'est une génération très perverse, des enfants en qui il n'y a pas de fidélité.
and said, I will turn away my face from them, and will show what shall happen to them in the last days; for it is a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faith.
21 Ils m'ont excité à la jalousie par ce qui n'est pas Dieu. Ils m'ont provoqué à la colère par leurs vanités. Je les pousserai à la jalousie envers ceux qui ne sont pas un peuple. Je les provoquerai à la colère d'une nation insensée.
They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God, they have exasperated me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.
22 Car un feu s'est allumé dans ma colère, qui brûle jusqu'au plus profond du Sheol, dévore la terre avec son accroissement, et met le feu aux fondations des montagnes. (Sheol h7585)
For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol h7585)
23 « Je les accablerai de maux. Je vais dépenser mes flèches pour eux.
I will gather evils upon them, and will fight with my weapons against them.
24 Ils seront épuisés par la faim, et dévorés par une chaleur brûlante et une destruction amère. J'enverrai sur eux les dents des animaux, avec le venin des vipères qui glissent dans la poussière.
[They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds, and there shall be irremediable destruction: I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts, with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.
25 Dehors l'épée arrachera, et dans les chambres, la terreur sur le jeune homme et la vierge, le nourrisson avec l'homme aux cheveux gris.
Without, the sword shall bereave them of children, and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers; the young man shall perish with the virgin, the suckling with him who has grown old.
26 J'ai dit que je les disperserais au loin. Je ferais en sorte que leur souvenir disparaisse d'entre les hommes;
I said, I will scatter them, and I will cause their memorial to cease from amongst men.
27 si je ne craignais la provocation de l'ennemi, de peur que leurs adversaires ne jugent mal, de peur qu'ils ne disent: « Notre main s'est élevée »; Yahvé n'a pas fait tout cela. »
Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long, lest their enemies should combine against them; lest they should say, Our own high arm, and not the Lord, has done all these things.
28 Car c'est une nation sans conseil. Il n'y a aucune compréhension en eux.
It is a nation that has lost counsel, neither is there understanding in them.
29 Oh, qu'ils soient sages, qu'ils comprennent cela, qu'ils considèrent leur fin dernière!
They had not sense to understand: let them reserve these things against the time to come.
30 Comment un seul pourrait-il chasser un millier, et deux ont mis en fuite dix mille personnes, à moins que leur Rock ne les ait vendus, et Yahvé les avait livrés?
How should one pursue a thousand, and two rout tens of thousands, if God had not sold them, and the Lord delivered them up?
31 Car leur rocher n'est pas comme notre rocher, que même nos ennemis eux-mêmes concèdent.
For their gods are not as our God, but our enemies [are] void of understanding.
32 Car leur vigne est de la vigne de Sodome, des champs de Gomorrhe. Leurs raisins sont des raisins empoisonnés. Leurs grappes sont amères.
For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, and their vine-branch of Gomorrha: their grape [is] a grape of gall, their cluster [is] one of bitterness.
33 Leur vin est le poison des serpents, le venin cruel des aspics.
Their wine [is] the rage of serpents, and the incurable rage of asps.
34 « N'est-ce pas là ce qui est mis en réserve chez moi, scellé parmi mes trésors?
Behold! are not these things stored up by me, and sealed amongst my treasures?
35 A moi la vengeance, la rétribution! au moment où leur pied glisse, car le jour de leur calamité est proche. Leur destin se précipite sur eux. »
In the day of vengeance I will recompense, whenever their foot shall be tripped up; for the day of their destruction [is] near to them, and the judgements at hand are close upon you.
36 Car Yahvé jugera son peuple, et avoir de la compassion pour ses serviteurs, quand il voit que leur pouvoir a disparu, qu'il n'y a plus personne qui reste, enfermé ou laissé en liberté.
For the Lord shall judge his people, and shall be comforted over his servants; for he saw that they were utterly weakened, and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble:
37 Il dira: « Où sont leurs dieux? le rocher dans lequel ils se sont réfugiés,
and the Lord said, Where are their gods on whom they trusted?
38 qui mangeaient la graisse de leurs sacrifices, et buvaient le vin de leur libation? Laissez-les se lever et vous aider! Laissez-les être votre protection.
the fat of whose sacrifices you ate, and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings? let them arise and help you, and be your protectors.
39 « Voyez maintenant que c'est moi qui suis lui. Il n'y a pas de dieu avec moi. Je tue et je fais vivre. Je blesse et je guéris. Il n'y a personne qui puisse délivrer de ma main.
Behold, behold that I am [he], and there is no god beside me: I kill, and I will make to live: I will strike, and I will heal; and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands.
40 Car je lève ma main vers le ciel et je déclare, comme je vis pour toujours,
For I will lift up my hand to heaven, and swear by my right hand, and I will say, I live for ever.
41 si j'aiguise mon épée étincelante, ma main la saisit en guise de jugement; Je me vengerai de mes adversaires, et rendra la pareille à ceux qui me haïssent.
For I will sharpen my sword like lightning, and my hand shall take hold of judgement; and I will render judgement to my enemies, and will recompense them that hate me.
42 Je vais rendre mes flèches ivres de sang. Mon épée dévorera la chair avec le sang des tués et des captifs, de la tête des chefs de l'ennemi. »
I will make my weapons drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, [it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded, and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them.
43 Réjouissez-vous, nations, avec son peuple, car il vengera le sang de ses serviteurs. Il se vengera de ses adversaires, et fera l'expiation pour son pays et pour son peuple.
Rejoice, you heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice you Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall purge the land of his people.
44 Moïse vint et prononça toutes les paroles de ce cantique aux oreilles du peuple, lui et Josué, fils de Nun.
And Moses wrote this song in that day, and taught it to the children of Israel; and Moses went in and spoke all the words of this law in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the [son] of Naue.
45 Moïse acheva de réciter toutes ces paroles à tout Israël.
And Moses finished speaking to all Israel.
46 Il leur dit: « Fixez votre cœur à toutes les paroles que je vous annonce aujourd'hui, que vous ordonnerez à vos enfants d'observer et de mettre en pratique, toutes les paroles de cette loi.
And he said to them, Take heed with your heart to all these words, which I testify to you this day, which you shall command your sons, to observe and do all the words of this law.
47 Car ce n'est pas une chose vaine pour vous, car il s'agit de votre vie, et c'est par elle que vous prolongerez vos jours dans le pays où vous passerez le Jourdain pour le posséder. »
For this [is] no vain word to you; for it [is] your life, and because of this word you shall live long upon the land, into which you go over Jordan to inherit it.
48 Ce même jour, Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
And the Lord spoke to Moses in this day, saying,
49 « Monte sur cette montagne d'Abarim, sur le mont Nebo, qui est dans le pays de Moab, en face de Jéricho, et regarde le pays de Canaan que je donne en propriété aux enfants d'Israël.
Go up to the mount Abarim, this mountain Nabau which is in the land of Moab over against Jericho, and behold the land of Chanaan, which I give to the sons of Israel:
50 Tu mourras sur la montagne où tu montes, et tu seras recueilli auprès de ton peuple, comme Aaron, ton frère, est mort sur la montagne de Hor, et a été recueilli auprès de son peuple;
and die in the mount whither you go up, and be added to your people; as Aaron your brother died in mount Or, and was added to his people.
51 parce que vous m'avez offensé au milieu des enfants d'Israël, aux eaux de Meriba de Kadès, dans le désert de Tsin, parce que vous n'avez pas maintenu ma sainteté au milieu des enfants d'Israël.
Because you disobeyed my word amongst the children of Israel, at the waters of strife of Cades in the wilderness of Sin; because you sanctified me not amongst the sons of Israel.
52 Car vous verrez le pays de loin; mais vous n'irez pas là dans le pays que je donne aux enfants d'Israël. »
You shall see the land before [you], but you shall not enter into it.
