1 Jeesuksen Kristuksen, Daavidin pojan, Aabrahamin pojan, syntykirja.
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Aabrahamille syntyi Iisak, Iisakille syntyi Jaakob, Jaakobille syntyi Juuda ja tämän veljet;
Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren;
3 Juudalle syntyi Faares ja Sera Taamarista, Faareelle syntyi Esrom, Esromille syntyi Aram;
and Judah had Phares and Zara by Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom,
4 Aramille syntyi Aminadab, Aminadabille syntyi Nahasson, Nahassonille syntyi Salmon;
and Esrom begat Aram, and Aram begat Aminadab, and Aminadab begat Naasson, and Naasson begat Salmon,
5 Salmonille syntyi Booas Raahabista, Booaalle syntyi Oobed Ruutista, Oobedille syntyi Iisai;
and Salmon had Booz by Rahab, and Booz had Obed by Ruth,
6 Iisaille syntyi Daavid, kuningas. Daavidille syntyi Salomo Uurian vaimosta;
and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David the king, and David had Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
7 Salomolle syntyi Rehabeam, Rehabeamille syntyi Abia, Abialle syntyi Aasa;
And Solomon begat Roboam, and Roboam begat Abia,
8 Aasalle syntyi Joosafat, Joosafatille syntyi Jooram, Jooramille syntyi Ussia;
and Abia begat Asa, and Asa begat Josaphat, and Josaphat begat Joram,
9 Ussialle syntyi Jootam, Jootamille syntyi Aahas, Aahaalle syntyi Hiskia;
and Joram begat Ozias, and Ozias begat Joatham, and Joatham begat Ahaz, and Ahaz begat Ezechias,
10 Hiskialle syntyi Manasse, Manasselle syntyi Aamon, Aamonille syntyi Joosia;
and Ezechias begat Manasses, and Manasses begat Amon,
11 Joosialle syntyi Jekonja ja tämän veljet Babyloniin siirtämisen aikoina.
and Amon begat Josias, and Josias begat Jakim, and Jakim begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time of their being carried away to Babylon.
12 Babyloniin siirtämisen jälkeen Jekonjalle syntyi Sealtiel, Sealtielille syntyi Serubbaabel;
And after the captivity of Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel,
13 Serubbaabelille syntyi Abiud, Abiudille syntyi Eljakim, Eljakimille syntyi Asor;
and Salathiel begat Zorobabel, and Zorobabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor,
14 Asorille syntyi Saadok, Saadokille syntyi Akim, Akimille syntyi Eliud;
and Azor begat Sadok, and Sadok begat Achim,
15 Eliudille syntyi Eleasar, Eleasarille syntyi Mattan, Mattanille syntyi Jaakob;
and Achim begat Eliud, and Eliud begat Eleazar, and Eleazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob,
16 Jaakobille syntyi Joosef, Marian mies, hänen, josta syntyi Jeesus, jota kutsutaan Kristukseksi.
and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
17 Näin on sukupolvia Aabrahamista Daavidiin kaikkiaan neljätoista polvea, ja Daavidista Babyloniin siirtämiseen neljätoista polvea, ja Babyloniin siirtämisestä Kristukseen asti neljätoista polvea.
All the generations therefore from Abraham to David are fourteen generations: and from David until the captivity of Babylon fourteen generations: and from the Babylonish captivity unto Christ, fourteen generations.
18 Jeesuksen Kristuksen syntyminen oli näin. Kun hänen äitinsä Maria oli kihlattu Joosefille, huomattiin hänen ennen heidän yhteenmenoaan olevan raskaana Pyhästä Hengestä.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in wise: when Mary his mother was promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Ghost:
19 Mutta kun Joosef, hänen miehensä, oli hurskas, ja koska hän ei tahtonut saattaa häntä häpeään, aikoi hän salaisesti hyljätä hänet.
but Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was inclined to break off the contract with her privately;
20 Mutta kun hän tätä ajatteli, niin katso, hänelle ilmestyi unessa Herran enkeli, joka sanoi: "Joosef, Daavidin poika, älä pelkää ottaa tykösi Mariaa, vaimoasi; sillä se, mikä hänessä on siinnyt, on Pyhästä Hengestä.
and when he was thinking on these things, behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph thou Son of David, scruple not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 Ja hän on synnyttävä pojan, ja sinun on annettava hänelle nimi Jeesus, sillä hän on vapahtava kansansa heidän synneistänsä."
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Tämä kaikki on tapahtunut, että kävisi toteen, minkä Herra on puhunut profeetan kautta, joka sanoo:
(Now all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled, which the Lord spake by the prophet, saying,
23 "Katso, neitsyt tulee raskaaksi ja synnyttää pojan, ja tälle on annettava nimi Immanuel", mikä käännettynä on: Jumala meidän kanssamme.
"Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel," which is God with us.)
24 Herättyään unesta Joosef teki, niinkuin Herran enkeli oli käskenyt hänen tehdä, ja otti vaimonsa tykönsä
So Joseph, when he awoke from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord directed him, and took home his wife:
25 eikä yhtynyt häneen, ennenkuin hän oli synnyttänyt pojan. Ja hän antoi hänelle nimen Jeesus.
and he knew her not, till she brought forth her Son the first-born, and he called his name Jesus.
