1 Ja David sodanpäämiesten kanssa eroitti virkoihin Asaphin, Hemanin ja Jedutunin lapset, jotka propheterasivat harpuilla, psaltareilla ja symbaleilla. Ja he luettiin töihin heidän virkansa jälkeen.

David and the leaders of the army selected some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service:

From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the king's supervision.

3 Jedutunista, Jedutunin lapset: Gedalia, Zeri, Jesaja, Hasabia ja Mattitia, kuusi isänsä Jedutunin johdon alla harpuilla, jotka ennustivat, kiittivät ja ylistivät Herraa.

From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who played the harp for giving thanks and praising Yahweh.

4 Hemanista: Hemanin lapset, Bukkia, Mattania, Ussiel, Sebuel ja Jerimot, Hanania, Hanani, Eliata, Giddalti ja Romamtieser, Josbekaja, Malloti, Hotir, Mahasiot;

From the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

5 Nämät olivat kaikki Hemanin lapset, kuninkaan näkiän Jumalan sanassa, ylentämään sarvea; sillä Jumala oli antanut Hemanille neljätoistakymmentä poikaa ja kolme tytärtä.

All these were the sons of Heman the king's prophet. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters to lift up his horn.

6 Nämät kaikki olivat isänsä käden alla, veisaamassa Herran huoneessa symbaleilla, psaltareilla ja harpuilla, Jumalan huoneen virassa, kuninkaan, Asaphin, Jedutunin ja Hemanin asetuksen jälkeen.

All these were under the direction of their fathers. They were musicians in Yahweh's house, with cymbals and stringed instruments as they served in God's house. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the king's supervision.

They and their brothers who were skilled and trained to make music to Yahweh numbered 288.

They cast lots for their duties, all alike, the same for the young as well as the old, the teacher as well as the student.

Now regarding Asaph's sons: The first lot fell to Joseph's family; the second fell to Gedaliah's family, twelve persons in number;

the third fell to Zaccur, his sons and his relatives, twelve persons in number;

the fourth fell to Izri, his sons and his relatives, twelve persons in number;

the fifth fell to Nethaniah, his sons and his relatives, twelve persons in number;

the sixth fell to Bukkiah, his sons and his relatives, twelve persons in number;
