< Samuel 2 24 >

1 Yehowa gado dziku ɖe Israel ŋu eye wòna be David tso ɖe wo ŋu gblɔ na wo be, “Miyi miaxlẽ ame siwo le Israel kple Yuda.”
And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Ale fia la dɔ Aʋafia Yoab kple aʋafia bubuwo eye wògblɔ na wo be, “Miyi ne miatsa le Israel ƒe toawo katã me tso Dan va se ɖe Beerseba eye miaŋlɔ ŋutsu siwo ate ŋu awɔ aʋa la ƒe ŋkɔ ne manya woƒe xexlẽme.”
For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number all of you the people, that I may know the number of the people.
3 Ke Yoab ɖo eŋu na fia la be, “Yehowa, wò Mawu la nadzi wò aʋakɔwo ɖe edzi zi alafa eye wòana be nye aƒetɔ, fia la ƒe ŋkuwo nakpɔ esia gake nu ka ŋuti nye aƒetɔ, fia la di be yeawɔ nu sia ɖo?”
And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD your God add unto the people, no matter how many they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 Ke fia la ƒe nya ɖu Yoab kple aʋafia bubuawo tɔ dzi ale wodzo le fia la ŋkume be woaɖaŋlɔ ŋutsu siwo katã ate ŋu ayi aʋa le Israel la ƒe ŋkɔ.
Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
5 Esi wotso Yɔdan tɔsisi la vɔ la, woƒu asaɖa anyi ɖe Aroer gbɔ le du si le balime la ƒe dziehe gome eye wozɔ to Gad va ɖo Yazer.
And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lies in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:
6 Tso afi ma woyi Gilead le Tatimhodsinyigba dzi heyi Dan Yaan eye woƒo xlã yi Sidon.
Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,
And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.
So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Yoab gblɔ na fia la be ŋutsu siwo tsi na aʋayiyi la le ame akpe alafa enyi le Israel eye wole akpe alafa atɔ̃ le Yuda.
And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 David ƒe dzitsinya ɖe fu nɛ esi wòna woxlẽ ame siwo ate ŋu ayi aʋa la vɔ. Tete wògblɔ na Yehowa be, “Mewɔ nu vɔ̃ gã aɖe le nu si mewɔ la ta. Oo Yehowa, azɔ la meɖe kuku na wò, ɖe wò dɔla ƒe vodada ɖa elabena mewɔ bometsinu gã aɖe.”
And David's heart stroke him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I plead to you, O LORD, take away the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.
For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
12 “Yi nàgblɔ na David be, ‘Ale Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: mele nu etɔ̃ ɖom ŋkuwò me. Tia wo dometɔ ɖeka esi mawɔ ɖe ŋutiwò.’”
Go and say unto David, Thus says the LORD, I offer you three things; choose you one of them, that I may do it unto you.
13 Gad yi David gbɔ eye wòbiae be, “Ɖe nàtia be dɔwuame nava anyigba dzi ƒe adre loo, alo nàsi le wò futɔwo nu ɣleti etɔ̃ loo, alo dɔvɔ̃ nava anyigba la dzi ŋkeke etɔ̃a? Bu nu siawo ŋu nyuie eye nàna manya ŋuɖoɖo si mana ame si dɔm la.”
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto you in your land? or will you flee three months before your enemies, while they pursue you? or that there be three days' pestilence in your land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
14 David gblɔ na Gad be, “Meɖo xaxa gã aɖe me. Na míadze Yehowa ƒe asi me le eƒe nublanuikpɔkpɔ sɔ gbɔ la ta, ke mègana madze amegbetɔ ƒe asi me o.”
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Ale Yehowa na dɔvɔ̃ va Israelnyigba dzi ŋdi ma; enɔ anyi va se ɖe ɣeyiɣi si wòɖo nɛ eye ame akpe blaadre ku le dukɔ la me, tso Dan va se ɖe Beerseba.
So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
16 Esi mawudɔla la do eƒe asi ɖa be yeatsrɔ̃ Yerusalem la, dzɔgbevɔ̃e la ve Yehowa eye wògblɔ na mawudɔla si le nu gblẽm le ameawo dome la be, “Enyo gbɔ! Ɖe wò asi ɖa.” Yehowa ƒe dɔla la ɖo Arauna, Yebusitɔ la ƒe lugbɔƒe le ɣe ma ɣi me.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now your hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 David kpɔ mawudɔla la eye wògblɔ na Yehowa be, “Kpɔ ɖa, nyee nye ame si wɔ nu vɔ̃! Nu ka alẽ siawo ya wɔ? Na wò dɔmedzoe nabi ɖe nye kple nye ƒometɔwo ɖeɖe ko ŋuti.”
And David spoke unto the LORD when he saw the angel that stroke the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let your hand, I pray you, be against me, and against my father's house.
18 Nyagblɔɖila Gad va David gbɔ gbe ma gbe eye wògblɔ nɛ be, “Yi nàtu vɔsamlekpui aɖe na Yehowa le Arauna, Yebusitɔ la ƒe lugbɔƒe.”
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 David yi be yeawɔ nu si Yehowa to Gad dzi gblɔ nɛ.
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
21 Ebia wo be, “Nu ka wɔ ge mieva?” David ɖo eŋu be, “Míeva be míaƒle wò lugbɔƒea eye matu vɔsamlekpui aɖe na Yehowa ɖe afi sia ale be wòana dɔvɔ̃ la nu natso.”
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing floor of you, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22 Arauna gblɔ na David be, “Nye aƒetɔ fia, wɔ nu sia nu si hiã wò la ŋu dɔ faa. Nyitsuwoe nye esiawo na numevɔsa; àte ŋu awɔ lugbɔnuwo kple nyitsuwo ƒe kɔkutiwo ŋu dɔ hena dzododo ɖe vɔsamlekpui la dzi.
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
23 Matsɔ wo katã na wò faa. Yehowa, wò Mawu la naxɔ wò vɔsa.”
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD your God accept you.
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of you at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which does cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 David ɖi vɔsamlekpui ɖe afi ma na Yehowa eye wòsa numevɔ kple akpedavɔ. Yehowa se eƒe gbedodoɖa eye wòna dɔvɔ̃ la nu tso.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was implored for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
