Ruth 2
1 And Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband's, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name [is] Boaz.
Noemí tenía un pariente por parte de su marido que se llamaba Booz. Era un hombre rico e influyente de la familia de Elimelec.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, 'Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;' and she saith to her, 'Go, my daughter.'
Poco después, Rut la moabita le dijo a Noemí: “Por favor, déjame ir a los campos a recoger el grano que ha quedado, si encuentro a alguien que me dé permiso”. “Sí, adelante, hija mía”, respondió Noemí.
3 And she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth — the portion of the field is Boaz's who [is] of the family of Elimelech.
Así que fue a recoger el grano que habían dejado los segadores. Resulta que estaba trabajando en un campo que pertenecía a Booz, un pariente de Elimelec.
4 And lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, 'Jehovah [is] with you;' and they say to him, 'Jehovah doth bless thee.'
Más tarde, Booz llegó de Belén y le dijo a los segadores: “¡El Señor esté con ustedes!”. Y ellos respondieron: “¡El Señor lo bendiga!”.
5 And Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, 'Whose [is] this young person?'
Entonces Boozle preguntó a su criado, que estaba a cargo de los segadores: “¿Con quién está emparentada esta joven?”
6 And the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, 'A young woman — Moabitess — she [is], who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,
“La joven es una moabita que volvió con Noemí de Moab”, respondió el criado.
7 and she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee — and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.
“Me pidió permiso para recoger el grano detrás de los segadores. Así que vino, y ha estado trabajando aquí desde la mañana hasta ahora, salvo un breve descanso en el refugio”.
8 And Boaz saith unto Ruth, 'Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:
Booz fue a hablar con Rut. “Escúchame, hija mía”, le dijo. “No te vayas a recoger el grano en el campo de otro. Quédate cerca de mis mujeres.
9 thine eyes [are] on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.'
Presta atención a la parte del campo que cosechan los hombres y sigue a las mujeres. Les he dicho a los hombres que no te molesten. Cuando tengas sed, ve a beber de las jarras de agua que han llenado los criados”.
10 And she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, 'Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?'
Ella se inclinó con el rostro hacia el suelo. “¿Por qué eres tan amable conmigo o te fijas en mí, viendo que soy extranjera?”, le preguntó.
11 And Boaz answereth and saith to her, 'It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.
“Me he enterado de todo lo que has hecho por tu suegra desde que murió tu marido”, respondió Booz. “Y también cómo dejaste a tu padre y a tu madre, y la tierra donde naciste, para venir a vivir entre gente que no conocías.
12 Jehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.'
Que el Señor te recompense plenamente por todo lo que has hecho: el Señor, el Dios de Israel, a quien has acudido en busca de protección”.
13 And she saith, 'Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I — I am not as one of thy maid-servants.'
“Gracias por ser tan bueno conmigo, señor” – respondió ella – “Me has tranquilizado al hablarme con amabilidad. Ni siquiera soy uno de tus siervos”.
14 And Boaz saith to her, 'At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.
Cuando llegó la hora de comer, Booz la llamó. “Ven aquí”, le dijo. “Toma un poco de pan y mójalo en vinagre de vino”. Así que ella se sentó con los trabajadores y Booz le pasó un poco de grano tostado para que comiera. Ella comió hasta saciarse y le sobró algo.
15 And she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, 'Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;
Cuando Rut volvió a trabajar, Booz dijo a sus hombres: “Dejen que recoja el grano incluso entre las gavillas. No le digan nada que la avergüence.
16 and also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls — and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.'
De hecho, saquen algunos tallos de los manojos que estén cortando y déjenlos para que los recoja. No la regañen”.
17 And she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;
Rut trabajó en el campo hasta la noche. Cuando sacó el grano que había recogido era una gran cantidad.
18 and she taketh [it] up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.
Lo recogió y lo llevó a la ciudad para mostrarle a su suegra la cantidad que había recogido. Rut también le dio lo que le había sobrado de la comida.
19 And her mother-in-law saith to her, 'Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.' And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, 'The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day [is] Boaz.'
Noemí le preguntó: “¿Dónde has recogido hoy el grano? ¿Dónde has trabajado exactamente? Bendice a quien se haya preocupado lo suficiente por ti como para darte atención”. Entonces ella le contó a su suegra con quién había trabajado. “El hombre con el que he trabajado hoy se llama Booz”.
20 And Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, 'Blessed [is] he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;' and Naomi saith to her, 'The man is a relation of ours; he [is] of our redeemers.'
“¡Que el Señor lo bendiga!” exclamó Noemí a su nuera. “Sigue mostrando su bondad con los vivos y con los muertos. Ese hombre es un pariente cercano a nosotros, es un ‘redentor de la familia’”.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess saith, 'Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.'
Rut añadió: “También me dijo: ‘Quédate cerca de mis trabajadores hasta que terminen de recoger toda mi cosecha’”.
22 And Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, 'Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.'
“Eso está bien, hija mía”, le dijo Noemí a Rut. “Quédate con sus trabajadoras. No vayas a otros campos donde podrían molestarte”.
23 And she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.
Así que Rut se quedó con las trabajadoras de Booz recogiendo el grano hasta el final de la cosecha de cebada, y luego hasta el final de la cosecha de trigo. Vivió con su suegra todo el tiempo.
