Ruth 2
1 And Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband's, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name [is] Boaz.
Noémi avait un parent du côté de son mari; C’était un homme puissant et riche, de la famille d’Élimélech et son nom était Booz.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, 'Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;' and she saith to her, 'Go, my daughter.'
Ruth, la Moabite, dit à Noémi: « je voudrais bien aller aux champs glaner des épis derrière celui aux yeux duquel j’aurai trouvé grâce. » Elle lui répondit: « Va, ma fille. »
3 And she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth — the portion of the field is Boaz's who [is] of the family of Elimelech.
Ruth s’en alla et vint glaner dans un champ derrière les moissonneurs; et il se rencontra qu’elle arriva dans la pièce de terre qui appartenait à Booz, qui était de la famille d’Élimélech.
4 And lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, 'Jehovah [is] with you;' and they say to him, 'Jehovah doth bless thee.'
Et voilà que Booz vint de Bethléem, et il dit aux moissonneurs: « Yahweh soit avec vous! » Ils lui répondirent: « Yahweh te bénisse! »
5 And Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, 'Whose [is] this young person?'
Et Booz dit à son serviteur établi sur les moissonneurs: « A qui est cette jeune fille? »
6 And the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, 'A young woman — Moabitess — she [is], who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,
Le serviteur établi sur les moissonneurs répondit: « C’est une jeune Moabite, qui est revenue avec Noémi des champs de Moab.
7 and she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee — and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.
Elle nous a dit: Laissez-moi glaner et ramasser des épis entre les gerbes, derrière les moissonneurs, Et, depuis ce matin qu’elle est arrivée, jusqu’à présent, elle a été debout, et ce repos qu’elle prend dans la maison est court. »
8 And Boaz saith unto Ruth, 'Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:
Booz dit à Ruth: « Ecoute, ma fille, ne va pas glaner dans un autre champ; ne t’éloigne pas d’ici, et reste ainsi avec mes servantes.
9 thine eyes [are] on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.'
Regarde le champ que l’on moissonnera, et va derrière elles. N’ai-je pas défendu aux serviteurs de te toucher? Et quand tu auras soif, tu iras aux cruches, et tu boiras de ce que les serviteurs auront puisé. »
10 And she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, 'Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?'
Alors, tombant sur sa face, elle se prosterna contre terre et lui dit: « Comment ai-je trouvé grâce à tes yeux, pour que tu t’intéresses à moi, qui suis une étrangère? »
11 And Boaz answereth and saith to her, 'It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.
Booz lui répondit: « On m’a rapporté tout ce que tu as fait pour ta belle-mère après la mort de ton mari, et comment tu as quitté ton père et ta mère et le pays de ta naissance, et tu es venue vers un peuple que tu ne connaissais pas auparavant.
12 Jehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.'
Que Yahweh te rende ce que tu as fait, et que ta récompense soit pleine, de la part de Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël, sous les ailes duquel tu es venue te réfugier! »
13 And she saith, 'Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I — I am not as one of thy maid-servants.'
Et elle dit: « Oh! que je trouve grâce à tes yeux, mon seigneur! Car tu m’as consolée, et tu as parlé au cœur de ta servante, bien que je ne sois pas même comme l’une de tes servantes. »
14 And Boaz saith to her, 'At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.
Au moment du repas, Booz dit à Ruth: « Approche, mange du pain et trempe ton morceau dans le vinaigre. » Elle s’assit à côté des moissonneurs; Booz lui donna du grain rôti; elle mangea et se rassasia, et elle garda le reste;
15 And she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, 'Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;
ensuite elle se leva pour glaner. Et Booz donna cet ordre à ses serviteurs: « qu’elle glane aussi entre les gerbes, et ne lui faites pas de honte;
16 and also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls — and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.'
et même vous tirerez pour elle quelques épis des javelles, que vous laisserez par terre, afin qu’elle les ramasse, et vous ne lui ferez pas de reproches. »
17 And she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;
Elle glana dans le champ jusqu’au soir, et elle battit ce qu’elle avait glané; il y eut environ un épha d’orge.
18 and she taketh [it] up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.
Elle l’emporta et revint à la ville, et sa belle-mère vit ce qu’elle avait glané. Elle tira aussi ce qu’elle avait gardé de reste après son repas, et le donna.
19 And her mother-in-law saith to her, 'Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.' And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, 'The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day [is] Boaz.'
Sa belle-mère lui dit: « Où as-tu glané aujourd’hui, et où as-tu travaillé? Béni soit celui qui s’est intéressé à toi! » Et Ruth fit connaître à sa belle-mère chez qui elle avait travaillé, en disant: « L’homme chez qui j’ai travaillé aujourd’hui s’appelle Booz. »
20 And Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, 'Blessed [is] he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;' and Naomi saith to her, 'The man is a relation of ours; he [is] of our redeemers.'
Noémi dit à sa belle-fille: « Qu’il soit béni de Yahweh de ce qu’il n’a pas cessé d’être miséricordieux envers les vivants, aussi bien qu’envers ceux qui sont morts! » Noémi lui dit encore: « Cet homme est pour nous un proche parent et l’un de ceux qui ont sur nous droit de rachat. »
21 And Ruth the Moabitess saith, 'Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.'
Ruth, la Moabite, dit: Il m’a dit encore: Reste avec mes serviteurs jusqu’à ce qu’ils aient achevé toute ma moisson. »
22 And Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, 'Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.'
Et Noémi dit à Ruth, sa belle-fille: « Il est bon, ma fille, que tu sortes avec ses servantes, afin qu’on ne te maltraite pas dans un autre champ. »
23 And she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.
Elle resta donc avec les servantes de Booz pour glaner, jusqu’à la fin de la moisson des orges et de la moisson du froment; et elle demeurait avec sa belle-mère.
