< Romans 9 >

1 Truth I say in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing testimony with me in the Holy Spirit,
Kri ah loktang ni ka thuih, lok kam lai ai, Kacai Muithla ah kasae kahoih panoekhaih palungthin mah doeh kai hnukung ah oh,
2 that I have great grief and unceasing pain in my heart —
palung ka set moe, boeng thai ai poek angphohaih ka tawnh.
3 for I was wishing, I myself, to be anathema from the Christ — for my brethren, my kindred, according to the flesh,
Taksa ah kaimah ih acaengnawk hoi nawkamyanawk hanah, kaimah roe hae Kri khae hoiah tangoenghaih tongh han khoek to ka koeh:
4 who are Israelites, whose [is] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the lawgiving, and the service, and the promises,
nihcae loe Israel kami ah oh o moe, pacah ih caa ah ohhaih, lensawkhaih, lokmaihaih, kaalok paekhaih, Sithaw toksakhaih hoi lokkamhaih hnu kami ah oh o;
5 whose [are] the fathers, and of whom [is] the Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed to the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
nihcae loe aicae ampa ah oh o, taksa ah nihcae thung hoiah ni Kri to angzoh, Anih loe hmuennawk boih ukkung ah oh moe, dungzan tahamhoihaih Sithaw ah oh. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 And it is not possible that the word of God hath failed; for not all who [are] of Israel are these Israel;
Sithaw lok loe atho om ai, tiah thuih koehhaih ih na ai ni. Israel hoi tacawt kaminawk loe Israel kami boih na ai ni:
7 nor because they are seed of Abraham [are] all children, but — 'in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee;'
Abraham ih atii ah oh o pongah, nihcae loe caa ah om o boih ai: toe Isak khae hoiah ni nang ih atii, tiah kawk o tih, tiah oh.
8 that is, the children of the flesh — these [are] not children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for seed;
To pongah, taksa ah kaom caanawk loe Sithaw ih caa na ai ni: lokkamhaih hoiah kaom caanawk to ni atii, tiah kroek o.
9 for the word of promise [is] this; 'According to this time I will come, and there shall be to Sarah a son.'
Vaihi tue thuem phak naah, kang zoh han, to naah Sarah mah capa maeto sah tih, tiah lokkamhaih to oh.
10 And not only [so], but also Rebecca, having conceived by one — Isaac our father —
Hae khue ai; Rebekah doeh kami maeto, aicae ampa Isak ih caa to pom naah;
11 (for they being not yet born, neither having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to choice, might remain; not of works, but of Him who is calling, ) it was said to her —
(Sithaw mah qoih ih baktih toengah oh hanah, Sithaw khokkhanhaih loe toksakhaih hoiah om ai, kawkkung Anih koehhaih baktiah ni om tih, tiah a caa hnik tapen ai vop moe, a caa hnik mah kasae hmuen maw, to tih ai boeh loe kahoih hmuen maw sakhaih om ai naah,
12 'The greater shall serve the less;'
nongpata khaeah, Kacoeh mah kanawk ih tok to sah pae tih, tiah a thuih pae.
13 according as it hath been written, 'Jacob I did love, and Esau I did hate.'
Jakob to ka palung, Isau loe ka hnukma, tiah tarik ih oh.
14 What, then, shall we say? unrighteousness [is] with God? let it not be!
To tiah nahaeloe kawbangmaw a tih o han boeh? Sithaw loe toeng ai, tiah a thuih o han maw? A thui o mak ai.
15 for to Moses He saith, 'I will do kindness to whom I do kindness, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion;'
Sithaw mah Mosi khaeah, Palungnat han koeh ih kami nuiah palung ka nat moe, palung han koeh ih kami to ka palung han, tiah thuih.
16 so, then — not of him who is willing, nor of him who is running, but of God who is doing kindness:
To pongah kami mah koeh pongah na ai, toksah kami pongah doeh na ai, palungnathaih amtuengsak Sithaw pongah ni oh.
17 for the Writing saith to Pharaoh — 'For this very thing I did raise thee up, that I might shew in thee My power, and that My name might be declared in all the land;'
Cabu mah Faro khaeah, Ka timhaih baktiah nang khaeah Ka thacakhaih kam tuengsak moe, Ka hmin long pum ah taphong han ih ni, kang qoengsak, tiah a naa.
18 so, then, to whom He willeth, He doth kindness, and to whom He willeth, He doth harden.
To pongah, Anih loe a koeh ih kami nuiah palungnathaih tawnh moe, a koeh ih kami to palung thahsak.
19 Thou wilt say, then, to me, 'Why yet doth He find fault? for His counsel who hath resisted?'
To tih nahaeloe Anih koehhaih to mi mah maw pakaa thai ai to mah, tipongah Anih mah kami zaehaih to pakrong loe? tiah na thuih o han maw?
20 nay, but, O man, who art thou that art answering again to God? shall the thing formed say to Him who did form [it], Why me didst thou make thus?
Na thui o mak ai, toe, Aw kami, Sithaw lok aek nang loe mi aa? A sak ih hmuen mah Sahkung khaeah, Tipongah hae tiah nang sak loe, tiah naa thai tih maw?
21 hath not the potter authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make the one vessel to honour, and the one to dishonour?
Laom sah kami loe amlai long tawnkung ah oh pongah, kanghmong amlai long hoiah na ai maw kahoih laom hoi kasae laom to a sak?
22 And if God, willing to shew the wrath and to make known His power, did endure, in much long suffering, vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,
Sithaw mah angmah ih palungphuihaih to amtuengsak moe, a sakthaihaih panoeksak han koeh pongah, paro hanah sak ih palungphuihaih kaomsak laomnawk nuiah palungsawkhaih tawn nahaeloe timaw thuih han oh vop,
23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on vessels of kindness, that He before prepared for glory, whom also He did call — us —
anih mah kating ai a lensawkhaih to pakoeh han sak coek ih, tahmenhaih laomnawk nuiah amtuengsak,
24 not only out of Jews, but also out of nations,
Judahnawk khae khue ai, Gentelnawk hoi anih mah kawk ih aicae khaeah doeh amtuengsak,
25 as also in Hosea He saith, 'I will call what [is] not My people — My people; and her not beloved — Beloved,
Hosea Cabu thungah, Kai ih kami ah kaom ai kaminawk to Kai ih kami, tiah Ka kawk han; palung ai ih kami to kang palung, tiah Ka naa han.
26 and it shall be — in the place where it was said to them, Ye [are] not My people; there they shall be called sons of the living God.'
Nihcae khaeah, Nangcae loe Kai ih kami na ai ni, tiah thuih ih ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk to kahing Sithaw ih capanawk, tiah kawk tih, tiah thuih ih lok to oh.
27 And Isaiah doth cry concerning Israel, 'If the number of the sons of Israel may be as the sand of the sea, the remnant shall be saved;
Tahmaa Isaiah mah doeh Israel kawng pongah, Israel caanawk loe tuipui ih savuet zetto pop o langlacadoeh, kanghmat kaminawk ni pahlong ah om o tih:
28 for a matter He is finishing, and is cutting short in righteousness, because a matter cut short will the Lord do upon the land.
anih mah toenghaih hoiah toksak pacoeng hanah, lok takroek tih; Angraeng mah long ah sak han atimhaih to sah palang tih, tiah thuih.
29 and according as Isaiah saith before, 'Except the Lord of Sabaoth did leave to us a seed, as Sodom we had become, and as Gomorrah we had been made like.'
Tahmaa Isaiah mah loe, Sabaoth Angraeng mah aicae ih atii paquem ai nahaeloe, aicae loe Sodom baktiah a om o ueloe, Gomorrah hoiah anghmong tih boeh, tiah thuih coek boeh.
30 What, then, shall we say? that nations who are not pursuing righteousness did attain to righteousness, and righteousness that [is] of faith,
To tih nahaeloe kawbangmaw a tih o han boeh? Toenghaih pazui ai Gentelnawk loe, tanghaih rang hoiah kaom, toenghaih to hnuk o boeh.
31 and Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, at a law of righteousness did not arrive;
Toe kaalok rang hoiah kaom toenghaih pazui, Israelnawk loe, kaalok rang hoiah kaom toenghaih to hnu o ai.
32 wherefore? because — not by faith, but as by works of law; for they did stumble at the stone of stumbling,
Tipongah hnu o ai loe? Nihcae loe amthaekhaih thlung pongah amtimh o pongah, tanghaih hoiah pakrong o ai, kaalok mah thuih ih baktih toengah toksakhaih rang hoiah pakrong o lat pongah ni hnu o ai.
33 according as it hath been written, 'Lo, I place in Sion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence; and every one who is believing thereon shall not be ashamed.'
Cabu thungah, Khenah, Zion ah amthaekhaih thlung hoi amtimhaih thlung to ka suek: mi kawbaktih doeh Anih tang kami loe azathaih tongh mak ai, tiah tarik ih oh.
