Psalms 49
1 To the Overseer. — By sons of Korah. A Psalm. Hear this, all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.
En Psalm, till att föresjunga, Korah barnas. Hörer till, all folk; akter häruppå, alle I, som på denna tid lefven;
2 Both low and high, together rich and needy.
Både den menige man och herrar, både rike och fattige; den ene med den andra.
3 My mouth speaketh wise things, And the meditations of my heart [are] things of understanding.
Min mun skall tala vishet, och mitt hjerta förstånd.
4 I incline to a simile mine ear, I open with a harp my riddle:
Vi vilje ett godt ordspråk höra, och en skön dikt på harpo spela.
5 Why do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters doth compass me.
Hvi skulle jag frukta mig i de onda dagar, när mina förtryckares ondska omfattar mig?
6 Those trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Do shew themselves foolish.
Hvilke sig förlåta uppå sitt gods, och trotsa uppå sina stora rikedomar.
7 A brother doth no one at all ransom, He doth not give to God his atonement.
Kan dock en broder ingen förlösa, eller Gudi någon försona;
8 And precious [is] the redemption of their soul, And it hath ceased — to the age.
Ty det kostar för mycket att förlösa deras själ; så att han måste låta det bestå evinnerliga;
9 And still he liveth for ever, He seeth not the pit.
Om han ock än länge lefver, och grafvena icke ser.
10 For he seeth wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left to others their wealth.
Ty man skall se, att sådana vise dock dö, så väl som de dårar och galne förgås, och måste låta sitt gods androm.
11 Their heart [is]: Their houses [are] to the age, Their tabernacles to all generations. They proclaimed their names over the lands.
Med deras tankar står det alltså: Deras hus vara förutan ända, deras boningar blifva ifrå slägte till slägte, och de hafva stora äro på jordene.
12 And man in honour doth not remain, He hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off.
Likväl kunna de icke blifva i sådana värdighet; utan måste hädan såsom fä.
13 This their way [is] folly for them, And their posterity with their sayings are pleased. (Selah)
Denna deras handel är allsamman galenskap; likväl lofva det deras efterkommande med sin mun. (Sela)
14 As sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form [is] for consumption. Sheol [is] a dwelling for him. (Sheol h7585)
De ligga i helvete såsom får, döden gnager dem; men de fromme skola hasteliga få råda öfver dem, och deras trotsan måste förgås; uti helvete måste de blifva. (Sheol h7585)
15 Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Men Gud skall förlösa mina själ utu helvetes våld; ty han hafver upptagit mig. (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
16 Fear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,
Sköt der intet om, när en rik varder, om hans huses härlighet stor varder;
17 For at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.
Ty han skall i sin dödstid intet med sig taga, och hans härlighet far intet efter honom;
18 For his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)
Utan han tröstar på detta goda lefvandet, och prisar det, när en gör sig goda dagar.
19 It cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.
Så fara de efter sina fäder, och få aldrig se ljuset.
20 Man in honour, who understandest not, Hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off!
Korteliga: När en menniska är i värdighet, och hafver icke förstånd, så far hon hädan såsom fä.
