Proverbs 8
1 Doth not wisdom call? And understanding give forth her voice?
¿No llama la sabiduría? ¿No alza su voz el entendimiento?
2 At the head of high places by the way, Between the paths she hath stood,
En lo alto de la colina, se pone en pie junto al camino, y sobre en las encrucijadas.
3 At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,
A las puertas de la ciudad, en la entrada grita:
4 'Unto you, O men, I call, And my voice [is] unto the sons of men.
“¡Los estoy llamando a todos ustedes! ¡A todos los habitantes del mundo!
5 Understand, ye simple ones, prudence, And ye fools, understand the heart,
Si eres inmaduro, aprende a crecer. Si eres tonto, aprende y vuélvete inteligente.
6 Hearken, for noble things I speak, And the opening of my lips [is] uprightness.
Escúchame porque tengo valiosas cosas que explicarte.
7 For truth doth my mouth utter, And an abomination to my lips [is] wickedness.
Yo digo lo correcto, porque digo la verdad y odio la maldad en todas sus formas.
8 In righteousness [are] all the sayings of my mouth, Nothing in them is froward and perverse.
Todas mis palabras son verdaderas, y ninguna es falsa ni engañosa.
9 All of them [are] plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.
Mis palabras son fáciles de entender para todo el que tiene entendimiento. Son rectas para el que tiene conocimiento.
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.
Elige mi enseñanza por encima de la plata; elige el conocimiento más que el oro puro.
11 For better [is] wisdom than rubies, Yea, all delights are not comparable with it.
Porque la sabiduría es más valiosa que los rubíes. ¡Nada de lo que puedas desear se compara a ella!
12 I, wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And a knowledge of devices I find out.
“Yo, la sabiduría, vivo con las buenas decisiones. Sé como hallar el conocimiento y el discernimiento.
13 The fear of Jehovah [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a froward mouth, I have hated.
Honrar al Señor significa aborrecer el mal. Por ello aborrezco el orgullo y la arrogancia, la conducta malvada y el decir mentiras.
14 Mine [is] counsel and substance, I [am] understanding, I have might.
Tengo el consejo y el buen juicio. Conmigo está la inteligencia y el poder.
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,
Gracias a mi los reyes reinan, y los gobernantes emiten decretos justos.
16 By me do chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of the earth.
Gracias a mi los líderes y nobles pueden gobernar, así como todos los que gobiernan con justicia.
17 I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly do find me.
Amo a los que me aman, y los que me buscan de corazón me encontrarán.
18 Wealth and honour [are] with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.
Conmigo está la riqueza y el honor, así como la riqueza y prosperidad duraderas.
19 Better [is] my fruit than gold, even fine gold, And mine increase than choice silver.
El fruto que produzco es mejor que el oro, incluso que el oro puro, y mi cosecha es mejor que la plata más fina.
20 In a path of righteousness I cause to walk, In midst of paths of judgment,
Vivo con rectitud, y sigo los caminos de la justicia.
21 To cause my lovers to inherit substance, Yea, their treasures I fill.
Yo otorgo riqueza a los que me aman, y lleno sus almacenes de tesoros.
22 Jehovah possessed me — the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.
“El Señor me creó desde el principio. Fui creada antes que cualquier otra cosa.
23 From the age I was anointed, from the first, From former states of the earth.
Fui formada hace mucho tiempo, desde el principio, y antes de que el mundo existiera.
24 In there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy [with] waters,
Nací cuando no había profundidades en el océano, cuando no había fuentes de aguas.
25 Before mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.
Nací antes de que se formaran las montañas y colinas,
26 While He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.
aun antes de que él hiciera la tierra y sus campos, o siquiera el polvo de la tierra.
27 In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,
Estuve allí cuando los cielos fueron puestos en su lugar, cuando él dibujó el horizonte sobre el océano,
28 In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,
cuando puso las nubes arriba en el cielo, y cuando creó las fuentes de los océanos.
29 In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,
Cuando estableció los límites del mar para que no se saliera más allá de su voluntad, y cuando estableció los fundamentos de la tierra.
30 Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight — day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,
En ese tiempo estaba a su lado, como maestro artesano. Lo alegraba todos los días, y yo sentía siempre alegría en su presencia.
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights [are] with the sons of men.
Estuve muy feliz en el mundo que creó, y celebrábamos juntos con los seres humanos.
32 And now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.
“Ahora, hijos míos, escúchenme, porque los que siguen mis caminos son felices.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.
Escuchen mis instrucciones y sean sabios. No rechacen mi instrucción
34 O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.
Felices son los que me escuchan, los que están pendientes en mi puerta para verme llegar.
35 For whoso is finding me, hath found life, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.
Porque los que me encuentran, encuentran la vida, y son aceptados por el Señor.
36 And whoso is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!
Pero los que no me encuentran se hacen daño a sí mismos, pues todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte”.
