Nehemiah 7
1 And it cometh to pass, when the wall hath been built, that I set up the doors, and the gatekeepers are appointed, and the singers, and the Levites,
Lorsque le mur eut été reconstruit et que j’en eus posé les portes, les portiers, les chantres et les Lévites furent installés à leur poste.
2 and I charge Hanani my brother, and Hananiah head of the palace, concerning Jerusalem — for he [is] as a man of truth, and fearing God above many —
Je confiai la garde de Jérusalem à mon frère Hanani et à Hanania, gouverneur du fort, car celui-ci passait pour un homme loyal et craignant Dieu comme peu de gens.
3 and I say to them, 'Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened till the heat of the sun, and while they are standing by let them shut the doors, and fasten, and appoint guards of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each in his guard, and each over-against his house.'
Je leur dis: "Les portes de Jérusalem ne devront pas s’ouvrir avant que le soleil chauffe; et pendant que les gardes seront encore là, qu’on ferme les battants et qu’on les verrouille. Qu’ensuite on pose les gardes des habitants de Jérusalem, chacun à son poste et chacun vis-à-vis de sa maison."
4 And the city [is] broad on both sides, and great, and the people [are] few in its midst, and there are no houses builded;
Or, la ville avait une grande étendue, et la population y était peu nombreuse, et toutes les maisons n’étaient pas rebâties.
5 and my God putteth it unto my heart, and I gather the freeman, and the prefects, and the people, for the genealogy, and I find a book of the genealogy of those coming up at the beginning, and I find written in it: —
Dieu m’inspira la pensée de rassembler les nobles, les chefs et le peuple pour établir leur filiation; je découvris le registre généalogique de ceux qui étaient montés en premier, et j’y trouvai consigné ce qui suit:
6 These [are] sons of the province, those coming up of the captives of the removal that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed — and they turn back to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his city —
"Voici les gens de la province, parmi les captifs exilés que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, avait déportés à Babylone, qui partirent pour retourner à Jérusalem et en Judée, chacun dans sa ville.
7 who are coming in with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. Number of the men of the people of Israel:
Ils revinrent avec Zorobabel, Yêchoua, Nehémia, Azaria, Raamia, Nahamani, Mardochée, Bilchân, Mispéret, Bigvaï, Nehoum et Baana. Ainsi se chiffraient les hommes du peuple d’Israël:
8 Sons of Parosh: two thousand a hundred and seventy and two.
Les enfants de Paroch: deux mille cent soixante-douze;
9 Sons of Shephatiah: three hundred seventy and two.
les enfants de Chefatia: trois cent soixante-douze;
10 Sons of Arah: six hundred fifty and two.
les enfants d’Arah: six cent cinquante-deux;
11 Sons of Pahath-Moab, of the sons of Jeshua and Joab: two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen.
les enfants de Pahat-Moab, de la famille de Yêchoua et Joab: deux mille huit cent dix-huit;
12 Sons of Elam: a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
les enfants d’Elam: mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
13 Sons of Zattu: eight hundred forty and five.

14 Sons of Zaccai: seven hundred and sixty.

15 Sons of Binnui: six hundred forty and eight.

16 Sons of Bebai: six hundred twenty and eight.

17 Sons of Azgad: two thousand three hundred twenty and two.

18 Sons of Adonikam: six hundred sixty and seven.
les enfants d’Ado-nikâm: six cent soixante-sept;
19 Sons of Bigvai: two thousand sixty and seven.

20 Sons of Adin: six hundred fifty and five.
les enfants d’Adin: six cent cinquante-cinq;
21 Sons of Ater of Hezekiah: ninety and eight.

22 Sons of Hashum: three hundred twenty and eight.

23 Sons of Bezai: three hundred twenty and four.

24 Sons of Hariph: a hundred [and] twelve.

25 Sons of Gibeon: ninety and five.

26 Men of Beth-Lehem and Netophah: a hundred eighty and eight.

27 Men of Anathoth: a hundred twenty and eight.

28 Men of Beth-Azmaveth: forty and two.

29 Men of Kirjath-Jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth: seven hundred forty and three.
les gens de Kiriath-Yearim, Kefira et Beêrot: sept cent quarante-trois;
30 Men of Ramah and Gaba: six hundred twenty and one.
les gens de Rama et Ghéba: six cent vingt-et-un;
31 Men of Michmas: a hundred and twenty and two.
les gens de Mikhmas: cent vingt-deux;
32 Men of Bethel and Ai: a hundred twenty and three.
les gens de Béthel et Aï: cent vingt-trois;
33 Men of the other Nebo: fifty and two.
les gens d’un autre Nebo: cinquante-deux;
34 Sons of the other Elam: a thousand two hundred fifty and four.

35 Sons of Harim: three hundred and twenty.

38 Sons of Senaah: three thousand nine hundred and thirty.

39 The priests: sons of Jedaiah: of the house of Jeshua: nine hundred seventy and three;

40 sons of Immer: a thousand fifty and two;
les enfants d’Immêr: mille cinquante-deux;
41 sons of Pashur: a thousand two hundred forty and seven;
les enfants de Pachhour: mille deux cent quarante-sept;
42 sons of Harim: a thousand and seventeen.

43 The Levites: sons of Jeshua, of Kadmiel: of sons of Hodevah: seventy and four.
Les Lévites: les enfants de Yêchoua et Kadmiêl, descendants de Hodeva: soixante-quatorze.
44 The singers: sons of Asaph: a hundred forty and eight.
Les chantres: les fils d’Assaph: cent quarante-huit.
45 The gatekeepers: sons of Shallum, sons of Ater, sons of Talmon, sons of Akkub, sons of Hatita, sons of Shobai: a hundred thirty and eight.
Les portiers: les enfants de Challoum, les enfants d’Atêr, les enfants de Talmôn, les enfants d’Akkoub, les enfants de Hatita, les enfants de Chobaï: cent trente-huit.
46 The Nethinim: sons of Ziha, sons of Hasupha, sons of Tabbaoth,
Les serviteurs du temple: les enfants de Ciha, les enfants de Hassoufa, les enfants de Tabbaot,
47 sons of Keros, sons of Sia, sons of Padon,
les enfants de Kêros, les enfants de Sis, les enfants de Padôn,
48 sons of Lebanah, sons of Hagaba, sons of Shalmai,
les enfants de Lebana, les enfants de Hagaba, les enfants de Salmaï,
49 sons of Hanan, sons of Giddel, sons of Gahar,
les enfants de Hanân, les enfants de Ghiddêl, les enfants de Gahar,
50 sons of Reaiah, sons of Rezin, sons of Nekoda,
les enfants de Reaïa, les enfants de Recin, les enfants de Nekoda,
51 sons of Gazzam, sons of Uzza, sons of Phaseah,
les enfants de Gazzâm, les enfants d’Ouzza, les enfants de Passêah,
52 sons of Bezai, sons of Meunim, sons of Nephishesim,
les enfants de Bessaï, les enfants de Meounîm, les enfants de Nefichsîm,
53 sons of Bakbuk, sons of Hakupha, sons of Harhur,
les enfants de Bakbouk, les enfants de Hakoufa, les enfants de Harhour,
54 sons of Bazlith, sons of Mehida, sons of Harsha,
les enfants de Baçlit, les enfants de Mehida, les enfants de Harcha,
55 sons of Barkos, sons of Sisera, sons of Tamah,
les enfants de Barkôs, les enfants de Sissera, les enfants de Témah,
56 sons of Neziah, sons of Hatipha.
les enfants de Neciah, les enfants de Hatifa.
57 Sons of the servants of Solomon: sons of Sotai, sons of Sophereth, sons of Perida,
Les descendants des esclaves de Salomon: les enfants de Sotaï, les enfants de Soféret, les enfants de Perida;
58 sons of Jaala, sons of Darkon, sons of Giddel,
les enfants de Yaala, les enfants de Darkôn, les enfants de Ghiddêl;
59 sons of Shephatiah, sons of Hattil, sons of Pochereth of Zebaim, sons of Amon.
les enfants de Chefatia, les enfants de Hattil, les enfants de Pokhéret-Hacebaïm, les enfants d’Amôn.
60 All the Nethinim and the sons of the servants of Solomon [are] three hundred ninety and two.
Tous les serviteurs du temple et les descendants des esclaves de Salomon s’élevaient au nombre de trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
61 And these [are] those coming up from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer — and they have not been able to declare the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they [are] of Israel —
Et voici ceux qui partirent de Têl-Mélah, de Têl-Harcha, Keroub, Addôn, Immêr, et qui ne purent indiquer leur famille et leur filiation pour établir qu’ils faisaient partie d’Israël:
62 sons of Delaiah, sons of Tobiah, sons of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
les enfants de Delaïa, les enfants de Tobia, les enfants de Nekoda, au nombre de six cent quarante-deux.
63 And of the priests: sons of Habaiah sons of Koz, sons of Barzillai, who hath taken from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite a wife, and is called by their name.
Et parmi les prêtres: les enfants de Hobaïa, les enfants de Hakoç, les enfants de Barzillaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et en avait adopté le nom.
64 These have sought their register among those reckoning themselves by genealogy, and it hath not been found, and they are redeemed from the priesthood,
Ceux-là recherchèrent leurs tables de généalogie, mais elles ne purent être retrouvées; aussi furent-ils déchus du sacerdoce.
65 and the Tirshatha saith to them that they eat not of the most holy things till the standing up of the priest with Urim and Thummim.
Le gouverneur leur défendit de manger des choses éminemment saintes, jusqu’au jour où officierait de nouveau un prêtre portant les Ourîm et les Toumîm.
66 All the assembly together [is] four myriads two thousand three hundred and sixty,
Toute la communauté réunie comptait quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante individus,
67 apart from their servants and their handmaids — these [are] seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven; and of them [are] singers and songstresses, two hundred forty and five.
sans compter leurs esclaves et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept, auxquels s’ajoutaient des chanteurs et des chanteuses, au nombre de deux cent quarante-cinq.
68 Their horses [are] seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred [and] forty and five;
69 camels, four hundred thirty and five; asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
70 And from the extremity of the heads of the fathers they have given to the work; the Tirshatha hath given to the treasure, of gold, drams a thousand, bowls fifty, priests' coats thirty and five hundred.
Une partie des chefs de famille firent des dons pour les travaux; le gouverneur versa au trésor mille dariques d’or, cinquante bassins, cinq cent trente tuniques de prêtres.
71 And of the heads of the fathers they have given to the treasure of the work, of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand and two hundred.
Un certain nombre de chefs de famille donnèrent au trésor des travaux: en or, vingt mille dariques, et en argent, deux mille deux cents mines.
72 And that which the rest of the people have given [is] of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand, and of priests coats, sixty and seven.
Et ce que donna le reste du peuple s’éleva, en or, à vingt mille dariques, en argent, à deux mille mines, et, en tuniques de prêtres, à soixante-sept.
73 And they dwell — the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel — in their cities, and the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in their cities.
Les prêtres, les Lévites, les portiers, les chanteurs, une partie du peuple, les serviteurs du temple et tout Israël s’établirent dans leurs villes respectives. Lorsque le septième mois arriva, les enfants d’Israël étaient installés dans leurs villes."
