Job 29
1 And Job addeth to lift up his simile, and saith: —
ইয়োব তাঁর বক্তৃতা চালিয়ে গেলেন:
2 Who doth make me as [in] months past, As [in] the days of God's preserving me?
“পার হয়ে যাওয়া মাসগুলির জন্য আমি কতই না আকাঙ্ক্ষিত, সেই দিনগুলির জন্যও আকাঙ্ক্ষিত, যখন ঈশ্বর আমার উপরে লক্ষ্য রাখতেন,
3 In His causing His lamp to shine on my head, By His light I walk [through] darkness.
যখন তাঁর প্রদীপ আমার মাথার উপরে আলো দিত ও তাঁর আলোতে আমি অন্ধকারেও চলাফেরা করতাম!
4 As I have been in days of my maturity, And the counsel of God upon my tent.
আহা সেই দিনগুলি, যখন আমি উন্নতির শিখরে ছিলাম, ঈশ্বরের অন্তরঙ্গ বন্ধুত্ব আমার বাড়িকে আশীর্বাদ করেছিল,
5 When yet the Mighty One [is] with me. Round about me — my young ones,
যখন সেই সর্বশক্তিমান আমার সাথেই ছিলেন ও আমার সন্তানেরা আমার চারপাশে ছিল,
6 When washing my goings with butter, And the firm rock [is] with me rivulets of oil.
আমার পথ যখন ননি প্লাবিত হত ও পাষাণ-পাথর আমার জন্য জলপাই তেলের ধারা ঢেলে দিত।
7 When I go out to the gate by the city, In a broad place I prepare my seat.
“আমি যখন নগরদ্বারে পৌঁছাতাম ও সার্বজনীন চকে আসন গ্রহণ করতাম,
8 Seen me have youths, and they, been hidden, And the aged have risen — they stood up.
যুবকেরা আমাকে দেখে সরে যেত ও প্রাচীনেরা উঠে দাঁড়াতেন;
9 Princes have kept in words, And a hand they place on their mouth.
শীর্ষস্থানীয় লোকেরা কথা বলা বন্ধ করে দিতেন ও হাত দিয়ে নিজেদের মুখ ঢেকে নিতেন;
10 The voice of leaders hath been hidden, And their tongue to the palate hath cleaved.
অভিজাতদের কণ্ঠস্বর ধামাচাপা পড়ে যেত, ও তাদের জিভ তালুতে সংলগ্ন হত।
11 For the ear heard, and declareth me happy, And the eye hath seen, and testifieth [to] me.
আমার কথা শুনে সবাই সাধুবাদ জানাত, ও আমাকে দেখে সবাই আমার প্রশংসা করত,
12 For I deliver the afflicted who is crying, And the fatherless who hath no helper.
যেহেতু আমি সাহায্যের আশায় আর্তনাদ করা দরিদ্রকে, ও অসহায় পিতৃহীনকে উদ্ধার করতাম।
13 The blessing of the perishing cometh on me, And the heart of the widow I cause to sing.
মৃত্যুপথযাত্রী মানুষ আমাকে আশীর্বাদ করত; বিধবার অন্তরে আমি গানের সঞ্চার করতাম।
14 Righteousness I have put on, and it clotheth me, As a robe and a diadem my justice.
আমি আমার ধার্মিকতা পোশাকরূপে গায়ে দিতাম; ন্যায়বিচার ছিল আমার আলখাল্লা ও আমার পাগড়ি।
15 Eyes I have been to the blind, And feet to the lame [am] I.
অন্ধের কাছে আমি ছিলাম চোখ ও খঞ্জের কাছে পা।
16 A father I [am] to the needy, And the cause I have not known I search out.
অভাবগ্রস্তের কাছে আমি ছিলাম একজন বাবা; অপরিচিত লোকের মামলা আমি হাতে তুলে নিতাম।
17 And I break the jaw-teeth of the perverse, And from his teeth I cast away prey.
দুষ্টদের বিষদাঁত আমি ভেঙে দিতাম ও তাদের দাঁত থেকে শিকারদের ছিনিয়ে আনতাম।
18 And I say, 'With my nest I expire, And as the sand I multiply days.'
“আমি ভাবলাম, ‘নিজের বাড়িতেই আমি মারা যাব, আমার দিনগুলি হবে বালুকণার মতো অসংখ্য।
19 My root is open unto the waters, And dew doth lodge on my branch.
আমার মূল জলের কাছে গিয়ে পৌঁছাবে, ও আমার শাখাপ্রশাখায় গোটা রাত শিশির পড়বে।
20 My honour [is] fresh with me, And my bow in my hand is renewed.
আমার গরিমা ম্লান হবে না; ধনুক আমার হাতে চিরনতুন হয়ে থাকবে।’
21 To me they have hearkened, Yea, they wait, and are silent for my counsel.
“মানুষজন প্রত্যাশা নিয়ে আমার কথা শুনত, আমার পরামর্শ লাভের জন্য নীরবে অপেক্ষা করত।
22 After my word they change not, And on them doth my speech drop,
আমি কথা বলার পর, তারা আর কিছুই বলত না; আমার কথাবার্তা মৃদুভাবে তাদের কানে গিয়ে পড়ত।
23 And they wait as [for] rain for me, And their mouth they have opened wide [As] for the latter rain.
তারা যেমন বৃষ্টির, তেমনি আমার অপেক্ষায় থাকত ও শেষ বর্ষার মতো আমার কথাবার্তা পান করত।
24 I laugh unto them — they give no credence, And the light of my face cause not to fall.
আমি যখন তাদের দিকে তাকিয়ে হাসতাম, তারা পুরোপুরি বিশ্বাস করত না; আমার মুখের আলো তাদের চমৎকার লাগত।
25 I choose their way, and sit head, And I dwell as a king in a troop, When mourners he doth comfort.
আমি তাদের জন্য পথ মনোনীত করতাম ও তাদের নেতা হয়ে বসতাম; সৈন্যদলের মধ্যে যেমন রাজা, তেমনি থাকতাম; বিলাপকারীদের যে সান্ত্বনা দেয়, তারই মতো থাকতাম।
