Isaiah 48

1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, Who are called by the name of Israel, And from the waters of Judah came out, Who are swearing by the name of Jehovah, And of the God of Israel make mention, Not in truth nor in righteousness.

Oíd esto, casa de Jacob, que os llamáis del nombre de Israel: los que salieron de las aguas de Judá, los que juran en el nombre de Jehová, y hacen memoria del Dios de Israel, no en verdad, ni en justicia:

2 For from the Holy City they have been called, And on the God of Israel been supported, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name.

Porque de la santa ciudad se nombran, y en el Dios de Israel confían: su nombre, Jehová de los ejércitos.

3 The former things from that time I declared, And from my mouth they have gone forth, And I proclaim them, Suddenly I have done, and it cometh.

Lo que pasó, ya días ha que lo dije, y de mi boca salió: lo publiqué; hícelo presto, y vino.

4 From my knowing that thou art obstinate, And a sinew of iron thy neck, And thy forehead brass,

Porque conozco que eres duro, y nervio de hierro tu cerviz, y tu frente de metal.

5 And I declare to thee from that time, Before it cometh I have caused thee to hear, Lest thou say, 'Mine idol hath done them, And my graven image, And my molten image did command them.

Díjetelo ya días ha: antes que viniese te lo enseñé; porque no dijeses: Mi ídolo lo hizo, mi escultura y mi vaciadizo mandó estas cosas.

6 Thou hast heard, see the whole of it, And ye, do ye not declare? I have caused thee to hear new things from this time, And things reserved that ye knew not.

Oístelo, vístelo todo: ¿vosotros pues no lo anunciaréis? Ahora pues, ya te hice oír nuevas y ocultas cosas, que tú no sabías.

7 Now they have been produced and not from that time, Yea, before the day, and thou hast not heard them, Lest thou say, 'Lo, I have known them.'

Ahora fueron criadas, no en días pasados, ni antes de este día las habías oído; porque no digas: He aquí que yo lo sabía.

8 Yea, thou hast not heard, Yea, thou hast not known, Yea, from that time not opened hath thine ear, For I have known thou dealest treacherously, And 'Transgressor from the belly,' One is crying to thee.

Cierto nunca lo habías oído, cierto nunca lo habías conocido, cierto nunca antes se abrió tu oído; porque sabía que desobedeciendo habías de desobedecer, por tanto te llamé rebelde desde el vientre.

9 For My name's sake I defer Mine anger, And My praise I restrain for thee, So as not to cut thee off.

Por causa de mi nombre dilataré mi furor, y para alabanza mía te esperaré luengamente, para no talarte.

10 Lo, I have refined thee, and not with silver, I have chosen thee in a furnace of affliction.

He aquí, te he purificado, y no como a plata: héte escogido en horno de aflicción.

11 For My sake, for Mine own sake, I do [it], For how is it polluted? And Mine honour to another I give not.

Por mí, por mí, haré: de otra manera, ¿cómo sería profanado? y mi honra no la daré a otro.

12 Hearken to me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called one, I [am] He, I [am] first, and I [am] last;

Oyeme, Jacob, e Israel, llamado mío: Yo mismo, yo el primero, también yo el postrero.

13 Also, My hand hath founded earth, And My right hand stretched out the heavens, I am calling unto them, they stand together.

Ciertamente mi mano fundó la tierra, y mi mano derecha midió los cielos con el palmo: en llamándolos yo, parecieron juntamente.

14 Be gathered all of you, and hear, Who among them did declare these things? Jehovah hath loved him, He doth His pleasure on Babylon, And His arm [is on] the Chaldeans.

Juntáos, todos vosotros, y oíd: ¿Quién hay entre ellos que anuncie estas cosas? Jehová le amó, el cual ejecutará su voluntad en Babilonia, y su brazo en los Caldeos.

15 I — I have spoken, yea, I have called him, I have brought him in, And he hath made prosperous his way.

Yo, yo hablé, y le llamé, y le traje: por tanto será prosperado su camino.

16 Come ye near unto me, hear this, Not from the beginning in secret spake I, From the time of its being, there [am] I, And now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and His Spirit.

Allegáos a mí, oíd esto: Desde el principio no hablé en escondido: desde que la cosa se hizo, estuve allí; y ahora el Señor Jehová me ha enviado, y su Espíritu.

17 Thus said Jehovah, thy redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, 'I [am] Jehovah thy God, teaching thee to profit, Causing thee to tread in the way thou goest.

Así dijo Jehová, Redentor tuyo, el Santo de Israel: yo Jehová Dios tuyo, que te enseña provechosamente, que te encamina por el camino en que andas.

18 O that thou hadst attended to My commands, Then as a river is thy peace, And thy righteousness as billows of the sea,

¡Ojalá tú miraras a mis mandamientos! fuera entonces tu paz como un río, y tu justicia como las ondas de la mar:

19 And as sand is thy seed, And the offspring of thy bowels as its gravel, Not cut off nor destroyed his name before Me.

Fuera como la arena tu simiente, y los renuevos de tus entrañas como las pedrezuelas de ella: nunca su nombre fuera cortado, ni raído de mi presencia.

20 Go out from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, With a voice of singing declare, Cause ye this to be heard, Bring it forth unto the end of the earth, Say, Redeemed hath Jehovah His servant Jacob.

Salíd de Babilonia, huid de entre los Caldeos: dad nuevas de esto con voz de alegría: publicádlo, llevádlo hasta lo postrero de la tierra: decíd: Redimió Jehová a su siervo Jacob.

21 And they have not thirsted in waste places, He hath caused them to go on, Waters from a rock he hath caused to flow to them, Yea, he cleaveth a rock, and flow do waters.

Y nunca tuvieron sed cuando los llevó por los desiertos: hízoles correr agua de la piedra: cortó la peña, y corrieron aguas.

22 There is no peace, said Jehovah, to the wicked!

No hay paz para los malos, dijo Jehová.
