Ezekiel 14

1 And come in unto me do certain of the elders of Israel, and sit before me.

Et vinrent vers moi des hommes des anciens d’Israël, et ils s’assirent devant moi.

2 And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

3 'Son of man, these men have caused their idols to go up on their heart, and the stumbling-block of their iniquity they have put over-against their faces; am I inquired of at all by them?

Fils d’un homme, ces hommes ont mis leurs impuretés dans leurs cœurs, et placé le scandale de leur iniquité devant leur face; est-ce que consulté, je leur répondrai?

4 'Therefore, speak with them, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Every one of the house of Israel who causeth his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath gone in unto the prophet — I Jehovah have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,

À cause de cela, parle-leur, et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Tout homme de la maison d’Israël qui aura mis ses impuretés dans son cœur, et aura placé le scandale de son iniquité devant sa face, et sera venu vers le prophète, m’interrogeant par lui, moi le Seigneur, je lui répondrai selon la multitude de ses impuretés;

5 in order to catch the house of Israel by their heart, in that they have become estranged from off me by their idols — all of them.

Afin que la maison d’Israël soit prise dans son cœur, par lequel ils se sont retirés de moi pour s’attacher à toutes leurs idoles.

6 'Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Turn ye back, yea, turn ye back from your idols, and from all your abominations turn back your faces,

À cause de cela, dis à la maison d’Israël: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Convertissez-vous, retirez-vous de vos idoles, et de toutes vos souillures détournez vos faces.

7 for every one of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who doth sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and doth cause his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath come in unto the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, Jehovah, have answered him for Myself;

Car tout homme de la maison d’Israël, et quiconque d’entre les prosélytes est étranger en Israël, s’il s’est détourné de moi et qu’il ait mis ses idoles dans son cœur, et qu’il ait placé le scandale de son iniquité devant sa face, et qu’il soit venu vers le prophète pour me consulter par lui; moi, le Seigneur, je lui répondrai moi-même.

8 and I have set My face against that man, and made him for a sign, and for similes, and I have cut him off from the midst of My people, and ye have known that I [am] Jehovah.

Et je tournerai ma face contre cet homme, et je le donnerai en exemple et en proverbe, et je l’exterminerai du milieu de mon peuple; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur.

9 'And the prophet, when he is enticed, and hath spoken a word — I, Jehovah, I have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel.

Et lorsque le prophète a erré et qu’il a dit une parole, c’est moi, le Seigneur, qui ai trompé ce prophète; et j’étendrai ma main sur lui, et je l’effacerai du milieu de mon peuple d’Israël.

10 And they have borne their iniquity: as the iniquity of the inquirer, so is the iniquity of the prophet;

Et ils porteront leur iniquité; selon l’iniquité de celui qui consulte, ainsi sera l’iniquité du prophète;

11 so that the house of Israel do not wander any more from after Me, nor are defiled any more with all their transgressions, and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Afin que la maison d’Israël ne s’égare plus en se retirant de moi, et qu’elle ne se souille point par toutes ses prévarications; mais qu’ils soient mon peuple, et que moi je sois leur Dieu, dit le Seigneur des armées.

12 And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

13 'Son of man, the land — when it sinneth against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken for it the staff of bread, and sent into it famine, and cut off from it man and beast —

Fils d’un homme, quant à une terre, lorsqu’elle aura péché contre moi en multipliant ses prévarications, j’étendrai ma main sur elle, et je briserai la verge de son pain, et j’enverrai sur elle la famine, et j’en tuerai les hommes et les bêtes.

14 and these three men have been in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job — they by their righteousness deliver their own soul — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Et si ces trois hommes justes, Noé, Daniel et Job, sont au milieu d’elle, eux-mêmes, par leur justice, délivreront leurs âmes, dit le Seigneur des armées.

15 'If an evil beast I cause to pass through the land, and it hath bereaved, and it hath been a desolation, without any passing through because of the beast —

Que si j’amène sur cette terre des bêtes cruelles, afin que je la dévaste, et qu’elle devienne inaccessible, pour qu’il n’y ait personne qui y passe à cause des bêtes;

16 these three men in its midst: I live — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah — neither sons nor daughters do they deliver; they alone are delivered, and the land is a desolation.

Si ces trois hommes y sont, je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu, ils ne délivreront ni leurs fils, ni leurs filles; mais eux seuls seront délivrés, et la terre sera désolée.

17 'Or — a sword I bring in against that land, and I have said: Sword, thou dost pass over through the land, and I have cut off from it man and beast —

Ou si j’amène le glaive sur cette terre, et que je dise au glaive: Passe par cette terre, et que j’en tue les hommes et les bêtes;

18 and these three men in its midst: I live — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah — they deliver not sons and daughters, for they alone are delivered.

Et que ces trois hommes soient au milieu d’elle; je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu, ils ne délivreront ni leurs fils, ni leurs filles; mais eux seuls seront délivrés.

19 'Or — pestilence I send unto that land, and I have poured out My fury against it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast —

Mais si j’envoie la peste sur cette terre et que je répande mon indignation sur elle par le sang, afin que j’en enlève les hommes et les bêtes;

20 and Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst: I live — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah — neither son nor daughter do they deliver; they, by their righteousness, deliver their own soul.

Et que Noé, Daniel et Job soient au milieu d’elle, je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu, ils ne délivreront ni fils, ni fille; mais par leur justice ils délivreront leurs propres âmes.

21 'For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Although My four sore judgments — sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence — I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Que si j’envoie à Jérusalem mes quatre jugements cruels, le glaive, la famine, les bêtes mauvaises, et la peste, afin que j’en tue homme et bétail,

22 yet, lo, there hath been left in it an escape, who are brought forth, sons and daughters, lo, they are coming forth unto you, and ye have seen their way, and their doings, and have been comforted concerning the evil that I have brought in against Jerusalem, all that which I have brought in against it.

Cependant il y sera laissé des hommes qui se sauveront, et feront sortir leurs fils et leurs filles; voilà qu’eux-mêmes viendront vers vous, et que vous verrez leur voie et leurs inventions, et que vous serez consolés du mal que j’aurai amené sur Jérusalem, et de tous les fléaux dont je l’aurai accablée.

23 And they have comforted you, for ye see their way and their doings, and ye have known that not for nought have I done all that which I have done in her — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Et ils vous consoleront, lorsque vous verrez leur voie et leurs inventions; et vous reconnaîtrez que ce n’est pas sans raison que j’aurai fait à Jérusalem tout ce que j’y aurai lait, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
