Deuteronomy 27

1 'And Moses — the elders of Israel also — commandeth the people, saying, Keep all the command which I am commanding you to-day;

Et Moïse, avec les anciens, continua de donner des ordres à Israël, et il dit: Observez tous les commandements que je vous intime aujourd'hui.

2 and it hath been, in the day that ye pass over the Jordan unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, that thou hast raised up for thee great stones, and plaistered them with plaister,

Le jour où tu auras traversé le Jourdain pour entrer en la terre que le Seigneur ton Dieu te donne, tu dresseras pour toi de grandes pierres que tu recrépiras de chaux.

3 and written on them all the words of this law in thy passing over, so that thou goest in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee — a land flowing with milk and honey, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee.

Tu écriras ensuite sur ces pierres tous les articles de la loi, aussitôt que vous aurez tous franchi le Jourdain, et que vous serez entrés en la terre que le Seigneur Dieu de vos pères vous donne, terre où coulent le lait et le miel, comme le Seigneur l'a dit à vos pères.

4 'And it hath been, in your passing over the Jordan, ye raise up these stones which I am commanding you to-day, in mount Ebal, and thou hast plaistered them with plaister,

Dès que vous aurez franchi le Jourdain, vous dresserez ces pierres dont je vous parle, sur le mont Hebal, puis vous les recrépirez de chaux,

5 and built there an altar to Jehovah thy God, an altar of stones, thou dost not wave over them iron.

Et vous bâtirez au même lieu un autel au Seigneur votre Dieu, un autel de pierres, où il n'entrera point de fer.

6 Of complete stones thou buildest the altar of Jehovah thy God, and hast caused to ascend on it burnt-offerings to Jehovah thy God,

Vous le bâtirez de pierres sans défaut, et sur cet autel vous offrirez des holocaustes au Seigneur votre Dieu.

7 and sacrificed peace-offerings, and eaten there, and rejoiced before Jehovah thy God,

Vous offrirez sur cet autel les hosties pacifiques; vous mangerez, vous vous rassasierez, et vous vous réjouirez devant le Seigneur votre Dieu.

8 and written on the stones all the words of this law, well engraved.'

Et sur les pierres vous écrirez toute la loi, très- manifestement.

9 And Moses speaketh — the priests, the Levites, also — unto all Israel, saying, 'Keep silent, and hear, O Israel, this day thou hast become a people to Jehovah thy God;

Et Moïse, avec les prêtres lévites, continua de parler à tout Israël, et il dit: Fais silence, écoute, Israël, aujourd'hui tu es devenu le peuple du Seigneur ton Dieu.

10 and thou hast hearkened to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and done His commands, and His statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day.'

Et tu seras docile à la parole du Seigneur, tu exécuteras ses commandements et ses ordonnances, que je t'intime aujourd'hui.

11 And Moses commandeth the people on that day, saying,

Et ce jour-là même, Moïse donna des ordres au peuple, disant:

12 'These do stand, to bless the people, on mount Gerizzim, in your passing over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.

Voici ceux qui se tiendront sur le mont Garizim, après avoir passé le Jourdain, pour bâtir le peuple: Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issachar, Joseph, Benjamin.

13 And these do stand, for the reviling, on mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

Voici ceux qui se tiendront sur le mont Hébal, du côté de la malédiction: Ruben, Gad, Aser, Zabulon, Dan et Nephthali.

14 'And the Levites have answered and said unto every man of Israel — a loud voice:

Et les lévites, parlant à haute voix, diront à tout Israël:

15 'Cursed [is] the man who maketh a graven and molten image, the abomination of Jehovah, work of the hands of an artificer, and hath put [it] in a secret place, — and all the people have answered and said, Amen.

Maudit soit l'homme qui fera une image sculptée ou jetée en fonte, abomination du Seigneur, ouvrage de la main d'un artisan, et qui la placera en un lieu secret; et le peuple entier répondant, dira: Ainsi soit-il.

16 'Cursed [is] He who is making light of his father and his mother, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui n'honore pas son père ou sa mère; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

17 'Cursed [is] he who is removing his neighbour's border, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui déplace les bornes de son voisin; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

18 'Cursed [is] he who is causing the blind to err in the way, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui égare l'aveugle dans le chemin; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

19 'Cursed [is] he who is turning aside the judgment of fatherless, sojourner, and widow, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui fait dévier la justice à regard de l'étranger, de l'orphelin et de la veuve; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

20 'Cursed [is] he who is lying with his father's wife, for he hath uncovered his father's skirt, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui a commerce avec la femme de son père, et soulève la couverture de son père; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

21 'Cursed [is] he who is lying with any beast, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui a commerce avec une bête; et le peuple entier dira: Ainsi soit-il.

22 'Cursed [is] he who is lying with his sister, daughter of his father, or daughter of his mother, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui a commerce avec la sœur de son père ou de sa mère; et le peuple entier dira: Ainsi soit-il.

23 'Cursed [is] he who is lying with his mother-in-law, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui a commerce avec sa fille; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il. Maudit soit celui qui a commerce avec la sœur de sa femme; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

24 'Cursed [is] he who is smiting his neighbour in secret, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit celui qui frappe son prochain dans une embuscade; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

25 'Cursed [is] he who is taking a bribe to smite a person, innocent blood, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit soit celui qui acceptera des présents pour condamner à mort et verser le sang innocent; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.

26 'Cursed [is] he who doth not establish the words of this law, to do them, — and all the people have said, Amen.

Maudit tout homme qui ne persévèrera pas en tous les articles de cette loi, pour les mettre en pratique; et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il.
