1 Kings 11
1 And king Solomon hath loved many strange women, and the daughter of Pharaoh, females of Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zidon, [and] of the Hittites,
Et le Roi Salomon aima des femmes étrangères en grand nombre, et d'abord la fille de Pharaon, puis des Moabites, des Ammonites, des iduméennes, des Sidoniennes, des Héthiennes,
2 of the nations of which Jehovah said unto the sons of Israel, 'Ye do not go in to them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after their gods;' to them hath Solomon cleaved for love.
appartenant aux peuples desquels l'Éternel avait dit aux enfants d'Israël: Vous n'entrerez point chez eux, et ils n'entreront point chez vous; certainement ils tourneront votre cœur du côté de leurs dieux; c'est à eux que Salomon s'attacha par l'amour.
3 And he hath women, princesses, seven hundred, and concubines three hundred; and his wives turn aside his heart.
Et il avait en femmes sept cents princesses et trois cents concubines; et ses femmes firent dévier son cœur.
4 And it cometh to pass, at the time of the old age of Solomon, his wives have turned aside his heart after other gods, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, like the heart of David his father.
Et à l'époque de la vieillesse de Salomon ses femmes tournèrent son cœur du côté d'autres dieux, et son cœur ne fut pas sans partage avec l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme le cœur de David, son père.
5 And Solomon goeth after Ashtoreth god[dess] of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites;
Et Salomon se mit à la suite d'Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, et de Milcom, l'Abominable des Ammonites.
6 and Solomon doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and hath not been fully after Jehovah, like David his father.
Et Salomon fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il ne s'attacha point complètement à l'Éternel comme David, son père.
7 Then doth Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the hill that [is] on the front of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon;
Alors Salomon éleva un tertre à Camos, l'Abominable des Moabites, sur la montagne située devant Jérusalem, et à Moloch, l'Abominable des Ammonites.
8 and so he hath done for all his strange women, who are perfuming and sacrificing to their gods.
Et ainsi fit-il pour toutes ses femmes étrangères qui offraient de l'encens et des sacrifices à leurs dieux.
9 And Jehovah sheweth Himself angry with Solomon, for his heart hath turned aside from Jehovah, God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice,
Et l'Éternel se courrouça contre Salomon parce qu'il avait détourné son cœur de l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, qui lui était apparu deux fois,
10 and given a charge unto him concerning this thing, not to go after other gods; and he hath not kept that which Jehovah commanded,
et lui avait donné sur ce point un ordre exprès en lui défendant de s'attacher à d'autres dieux; mais Salomon n'observa point la défense de l'Éternel.
11 and Jehovah saith to Solomon, 'Because that this hath been with thee, and thou hast not kept My covenant and My statutes that I charged upon thee, I surely rend the kingdom from thee, and have given it to thy servant.
Et l'Éternel dit à Salomon: Puisque tu t'es ainsi comporté, et que tu n'as pas gardé mon alliance et mes statuts que je t'avais prescrits, je t'arracherai le royaume et le donnerai à ton serviteur;
12 'Only, in thy days I do it not, for the sake of David thy father; out of the hand of thy son I rend it;
cependant je ne le ferai pas de ton vivant, pour l'amour de David, ton père; c'est de la main de ton fils que je l'arracherai;
13 only all the kingdom I do not rend away; one tribe I give to thy son, for the sake of David My servant, and for the sake of Jerusalem, that I have chosen.'
seulement ce n'est pas la totalité du royaume que je détacherai; je laisserai une Tribu à ton fils pour l'amour de David, mon serviteur, et pour l'amour de Jérusalem que j'ai choisie.
14 And Jehovah raiseth up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; of the seed of the king [is] he in Edom;
Et l'Éternel suscita un adversaire à Salomon, Hadad, l'Iduméen, de la race royale qui régnait en Edom.
15 and it cometh to pass, in David's being with Edom, in the going up of Joab head of the host to bury the slain, that he smiteth every male in Edom —
Et il arriva, David étant en Idumée, lorsque Joab, général de l'armée, eut gagné les hauteurs pour donner la sépulture aux morts, que celui-ci massacra tous les mâles de l'Idumée
16 for six months did Joab abide there, and all Israel, till the cutting off of every male in Edom —
(car Joab y resta six mois avec tous les Israélites jusqu'à ce qu'il eût exterminé tous les mâles de l'Idumée);
17 and Hadad fleeth, he and certain Edomites, of the servants of his father, with him, to go in to Egypt, and Hadad [is] a little youth,
alors Hadad, ayant avec lui des Iduméens d'entre les serviteurs de son père, prit la fuite pour gagner l'Egypte; or Hadad était encore un jeune garçon.
18 and they rise out of Midian, and come into Paran, and take men with them out of Paran, and come in to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he giveth to him a house, and bread hath commanded for him, and land hath given to him.
Et après être partis de Madian, ils atteignirent Pharan, et de Pharan ils emmenèrent du monde avec eux et ils arrivèrent en Egypte chez Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, lequel lui donna une demeure, et lui assigna des subsistances et lui concéda des terres.
19 And Hadad findeth grace in the eyes of Pharaoh exceedingly, and he giveth to him a wife, the sister of his own wife, sister of Tahpenes the mistress;
Et Hadad trouva à un haut degré grâce aux yeux de Pharaon, qui lui donna en mariage la sœur de sa femme, la sœur de la reine Thachpenès.
20 and the sister of Tahpenes beareth to him Genubath his son, and Tahpenes weaneth him within the house of Pharaoh, and Genubath is in the house of Pharaoh in the midst of the sons of Pharaoh.
Et la sœur de Thachpenès lui enfanta Genubath, son fils; et Thachpenès fit son sevrage au palais de Pharaon, et Genubath fut dans le palais de Pharaon au milieu des fils de Pharaon.
21 And Hadad hath heard in Egypt that David hath lain with his fathers, and that Joab head of the host is dead, and Hadad saith unto Pharaoh, 'Send me away, and I go unto my land.'
Et Hadad ayant appris en Egypte que David reposait avec ses pères, et que Joab, général de l'armée, était mort, Hadad alors dit à Pharaon: Laisse-moi libre de retourner dans mon pays.
22 And Pharaoh saith to him, 'But, what art thou lacking with me, that lo, thou art seeking to go unto thine own land?' and he saith, 'Nay, but thou dost certainly send me away.'
Et Pharaon lui dit: Mais, que te manque-t-il chez moi? Et te voilà cherchant à aller dans ton pays! Et il reprit: Non, mais laisse, laisse-moi partir!
23 And God raiseth to him an adversary, Rezon son of Eliadah, who hath fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord,
En outre Dieu suscita à Salomon un adversaire dans Rezon, fils d'Eljada, déserteur d'Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba, son maître.
24 and gathereth unto himself men, and is head of a troop in David's slaying them, and they go to Damascus, and dwell in it, and reign in Damascus;
Et il ramassa auprès de lui des hommes, et devint chef de bande, lorsque David en fit le carnage (des Syriens); et ils se portèrent à Damas, et ils s'y maintinrent, et dominèrent à Damas.
25 and he is an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, (besides the evil that Hadad [did]), and he cutteth off in Israel, and reigneth over Aram.
Et il fut un adversaire pour Israël durant toute la vie de Salomon. Et quant au mal que fit Hadad, il harcela Israël et il régna sur la Syrie.
26 And Jeroboam son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda — the name of whose mother [is] Zeruah, a widow woman — servant to Solomon, he also lifteth up a hand against the king;
Et aussi Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, Ephraïmite de Tsérèda (or sa mère, veuve, s'appelait Tserua), sujet de Salomon, leva la main contre le Roi.
27 and this [is] the thing [for] which he lifted up a hand against the king: Solomon built Millo — he shut up the breach of the city of David his father,
Et voici la cause pour laquelle il leva la main contre le Roi: Salomon construisait la Redoute et fermait la brèche de la Cité de David, son père.
28 and the man Jeroboam [is] mighty in valour, and Solomon seeth the young man that he is doing business, and appointeth him over all the burden of the house of Joseph.
Et le personnage, Jéroboam, était un brave, un homme de ressource, et Salomon voyant dans le jeune homme de l'aptitude à l'œuvre, le préposa sur tous les gens de charge de la maison de Joseph…
29 And it cometh to pass, at that time, that Jeroboam hath gone out from Jerusalem, and Ahijah the Shilonite, the prophet, findeth him in the way, and he is covering himself with a new garment; and both of them [are] by themselves in a field,
Et il arriva dans ce temps-là que Jéroboam, étant sorti de Jérusalem, fut rencontré par Ahia, de Silo, le prophète, dans la route; or Ahia portait un manteau neuf, et ils étaient seuls dans la campagne.
30 and Ahijah layeth hold on the new garment that [is] on him, and rendeth it — twelve pieces,
Alors Ahia prit le manteau neuf qu'il avait sur lui et le déchira en douze morceaux
31 and saith to Jeroboam, 'Take to thee ten pieces, for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, lo, I am rending the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and have given to thee the ten tribes,
et dit à Jéroboam: Prends pour toi dix morceaux; car ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je vais arracher le royaume de la main de Salomon, et te remettre les dix Tribus;
32 and the one tribe he hath for My servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have fixed on, out of all the tribes of Israel.
mais une Tribu lui restera en considération de mon serviteur David et en considération de Jérusalem, la ville que j'ai choisie dans la totalité des Tribus d'Israël,
33 'Because they have forsaken Me, and bow themselves to Ashtoreth, god[dess] of the Zidonians, to Chemosh god of Moab, and to Milcom god of the sons of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways, to do that which [is] right in Mine eyes, and My statutes and My judgments, like David his father.
parce que l'on m'a abandonné et que l'on a adoré Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, Camos, dieu de Moab, et Milcom, dieu des Ammonites, et que l'on n'a pas pratiqué mes voies pour accomplir ce qui est droit à mes yeux, ni mes statuts, ni mes lois, comme David, son père.
34 'And I do not take the whole of the kingdom out of his hand, for prince I make him all days of his life, for the sake of David My servant whom I chose, who kept My commands and My statutes;
Cependant je ne lui arracherai pas de la main la totalité du royaume, mais je lui laisserai sa place de Prince sa vie durant, en considération de David, mon serviteur, que j'ai choisi et qui a gardé mes commandements et mes statuts,
35 and I have taken the kingdom out of the hand of his son, and given it to thee — the ten tribes;
et j'arracherai le royaume de la main de son fils, et te donnerai les dix Tribus; quant à son fils,
36 and to his son I give one tribe, for there being a lamp to David My servant all the days before Me in Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen to Myself to put My name there.
je lui laisserai une Tribu, afin que mon serviteur David ait dans tous les temps une lampe devant moi à Jérusalem, la ville que je me suis choisie pour y placer mon Nom.
37 'And thee I take, and thou hast reigned over all that thy soul desireth, and thou hast been king over Israel;
Et je te prendrai pour que tu règnes sur tout ce qu'ambitionne ton âme et deviennes roi d'Israël.
38 and it hath been, if thou dost hear all that I command thee, and hast walked in My ways, and done that which is right in Mine eyes, to keep My statutes and My commands, as did David My servant, that I have been with thee, and have built for thee a stedfast house, as I built for David, and have given to thee Israel,
Et si tu obéis à tout ce que je te commanderai, et pratiques mes voies et fais ce qui est droit à mes yeux, gardant mes statuts et mes commandements, comme l'a fait David, mon serviteur, alors je serai avec toi et t'édifierai une maison stable, comme je l'ai édifiée à David, et je te donnerai Israël
39 and I humble the seed of David for this; only, not all the days.'
et j'humilierai la race de David à cet effet, seulement pas pour toujours. —
40 And Solomon seeketh to put Jeroboam to death, and Jeroboam riseth and fleeth to Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and he is in Egypt till the death of Solomon.
Et Salomon cherchait à se défaire de Jéroboam; alors Jéroboam partit, et s'enfuit en Egypte chez Sisac, roi d'Egypte, et il fut en Egypte jusqu'à la mort de Salomon.
41 And the rest of the matters of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written on the book of the matters of Solomon?
Et le reste de l'histoire de Salomon, et tous ses actes et sa sagesse sont consignés dans le livre de l'histoire de Salomon.
42 And the days that Solomon hath reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel [are] forty years,
Et le temps que Salomon régna à Jérusalem sur tout Israël, fut quarante années.
43 and Solomon lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David his father, and reign doth Rehoboam his son in his stead.
Et Salomon reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture dans la ville de David, son père. Et Roboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
