Numbers 13
1 And there the Lord spak to Moises,
E falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:
2 and seide, Sende thou men that schulen biholde the lond of Canaan, which Y schal yyue to the sones of Israel, of ech lynage o man of the princes.
Envia homens que espiem a terra de Canaan, que eu hei de dar aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, sendo cada qual maioral entre eles.
3 Moises dide that that the Lord comaundide, and sente fro the deseert of Pharan princes, men of whiche these ben the names.
E enviou-os Moisés do deserto de Paran, segundo o dito do Senhor; todos aqueles homens eram Cabeças dos filhos de Israel.
4 Of the lynage of Ruben, Semmya, the sone of Zectur.
E estes são os seus nomes: Da tribo de Ruben, Sammua, filho de Saccur,
5 Of the lynage of Symeon, Saphat, the sone of Hury.
Da tribo de Simeão Saphath, filho de Hori;
6 Of the lynage of Juda, Caleph, the sone of Jephone.
Da tribo de Judá, Caleb, filho de Jefoné;
7 Of the lynage of Isachar, Igal, the sone of Joseph.
Da tribo de issacar, Jigeal, filho de José;
8 Of the lynage of Effraym, Osee, the sone of Nun.
Da tribo de Ephraim, Hosea, filho de Nun;
9 Of the lynage of Beniamyn, Phalti, the sone of Raphu.
Da tribo de Benjamin, Palti, filho de Raphu;
10 Of the lynage of Zabulon, Gediel, the sone of Sodi.
Da tribo de Zebulon, Gaddiel, filho de Sodi;
11 Of the lynage of Joseph, of the gouernaunce of Manasses, Gaddi, the sone of Susy.
Da tribo de José, pela tribo de Manasseh, Gaddi filho de Susi;
12 Of the lynage of Dan, Amyel, the sone of Gemalli.
Da tribo de Dan, Ammiel, filho de Gemalli;
13 Of the lynage of Aser, Sur, the sone of Mychael.
Da tribo de Aser, Sethur, filho de Michael;
14 Of the lynage of Neptalym, Nabdi, the sone of Napsi.
Da tribo de Naphtali, Nabbi, filho de Vophsi;
15 Of the lynage of Gad, Guel, the sone of Machi.
Da tribo de Gad, Guel, filho de Machi.
16 These ben the names of men, which Moises sente to biholde the lond of Canaan; and he clepide Osee, the sone of Nun, Josue.
Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou a espiar aquela terra: e a Hosea, filho de Nun, Moisés chamou Josué.
17 Therfor Moises sente hem to biholde the lond of Canaan, and seide to hem, `Stie ye bi the south coost; and whanne ye comen to the hillis,
Enviou-os pois Moisés a espiar a terra de Canaan: e disse-lhes: Subi por aqui para a banda do sul, e subi à montanha:
18 biholde ye the lond, what maner lond it is; and biholde ye the puple which is the dwellere therof, whether it is strong, ethir feble, `whether thei ben fewe in noumbre, ether manye;
E vede que terra é, e o povo que nela habita; se é forte ou fraco; se pouco ou muito.
19 whether that lond is good, ethir yuel; what maner citees ben, wallid, ether without wallis;
E qual é a terra em que habita, se boa ou má: e quais são as cidades em que habita; ou em arraiais, ou em fortalezas.
20 whether the lond is fat, ether bareyn, `whether it is ful of woodis, ethir without trees. Be ye coumfortid, and `brynge ye to vs of the fruytis of that lond. Sotheli the tyme was, whanne grapis first ripe myyten be etun thanne.
Também qual é a terra, se grossa ou magra: se nela há árvores, ou não: e esforçai-vos, e tomai do fruto da terra. E eram aqueles dias os dias das primícias das uvas.
21 And whanne thei hadden stied, thei aspieden the lond, fro the deseert of Syn `til to Rohob, as men entryth to Emath.
Assim subiram, e espiaram a terra desde o deserto de Zín, até Rehob, à entrada de Hamath.
22 And thei stieden to the south, and camen in to Ebron, where Achyman, and Sisai, and Tholmai, the sones of Enach, weren; for Hebron was maad bi seuen yeer bifor Thamnys, the citee of Egipt.
E subiram para a banda do sul, e vieram até Hebron; e estavam ali Aiman, Sesai, e Talmai, filhos de Enac: e Hebron foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoan no Egito.
23 And thei yeden til to the stronde of clustre, and kittiden doun a sioun with his grape, which twei men baren in a barre; also thei token of pumgarnadis, and of the figis of that place which is clepid Nehelescol,
Depois vieram até ao vale de Escol, e dali cortaram um ramo de vide com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois homens sobre uma verga: como também das romãs e dos figos.
24 that is, the stronde of grape, for the sones of Israel baren a clustre fro thennus.
Chamaram àquele lugar o vale de Escol, por causa do cacho que dali cortaram os filhos de Israel.
25 And the aspieris of the lond, whanne thei hadden cumpassid al the cuntrey, after fourti daies camen to Moises and Aaron,
Depois tornaram-se de Espiar a terra, ao fim de quarenta dias.
26 and to al the cumpany of the sones of Israel, in to the deseert of Pharan which is in Cades. And `the aspieris spaken to hem, and schewiden the fruytis of the lond to al the multitude, and telden,
E caminharam, e vieram a Moisés e a Aarão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel no deserto de Paran, a Cades, e, tornando, deram-lhes conta a eles, e a toda a congregação, e mostraram-lhes o fruto da terra
27 and seiden, We camen to the lond, to which thou sentest vs, which lond treuli flowith with mylk and hony, as it may be knowun bi these fruytis;
E contaram-lhe e disseram: Fomos à terra a que nos enviaste; e verdadeiramente mana leite e mel, e este é o fruto.
28 but it hath strongeste inhabiteris, and grete cytees, and wallid; we sien there the kynrede of Anachym; Amalech dwellith in the south;
O povo porém que habita nessa terra é poderoso, e as cidades fortes e mui grandes; e também ali vimos os filhos de Enac.
29 Ethei, and Jebusei, and Amorey dwellen in the hilli placis; forsothe Cananey dwellith bisidis the see, and bisidis the floodis of Jordan.
Os amalequitas habitam na terra do sul; e os heteus, e os jebuseus, e os amorreus habitam na montanha: e os cananeus habitam ao pé do mar, e pela ribeira do Jordão.
30 Among thes thingis Caleph peeside the grutchyng of the puple, that was maad ayens Moises, and seide, `Stie we, and welde we the lond, for we moun gete it.
Então Caleb fez calar o povo perante Moisés, e disse: Subamos animosamente, e possuamo-la em herança: porque certamente prevaleceremos contra ela.
31 Forsothe other aspieris, that weren with hym, seiden, We moun not stie to this puple, for it is strongere than we.
Porém os homens que com ele subiram disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo, porque é mais forte do que nós.
32 And thei deprauyden the lond which thei hadden biholde, anentis the sones of Israel, and seiden, The lond which we cumpassiden deuourith hise dwelleris; the puple which we bihelden is of large stature; there we syen summe wondris ayens kynde,
E infamaram a terra que tinham espiado para com os filhos de Israel, dizendo: A terra, pelo meio da qual passamos a espiar, é terra que consome os seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos no meio dela são homens de grande estatura.
33 of the sones of Enach, of the kynde of geauntis, to whiche we weren comparisound, and weren seien as locustis.
Também vimos ali gigantes, filhos de Enac, descendentes dos gigantes: e éramos aos nossos olhos como gafanhotos, e assim também éramos aos seus olhos.
