Mark 15
1 And anoon in the morewtid the hiyeste prestis maden a counsel with the elder men, and the scribis, and with al the counsel, and bounden Jhesu and ledden, and bitoken hym to Pilat.
Dès le matin, les chefs des prêtres, auxquels s'étaient joints les Anciens et les Scribes, le Sanhédrin tout entier, qui avaient tenu conseil, chargèrent Jésus de liens, l'emmenèrent et le livrèrent à Pilate,
2 And Pilat axide hym, Art thou kynge of Jewis? And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, Thou seist.
qui l'interrogea: C'est toi qui es le Roi des Juifs?» Jésus répondit ainsi: «Tu le dis.»
3 And the hieste prestis accusiden hym in many thingis.
Les chefs des prêtres cependant formulaient contre lui des accusations en quantité.
4 But Pilat eftsoone axide hym, and seide, Answerist thou no thing? Seest thou in hou many thingis thei accusen thee?
Pilate l'interrogea une seconde fois: «Tu ne réponds rien! Vois tout ce dont on t'accuse!»
5 But Jhesus answeride no more, so that Pilat wondride.
Mais Jésus ne répondit plus rien, ce dont Pilate, fut très surpris.
6 But bi the feeste dai he was wont to leeue to hem oon of men boundun, whom euer thei axiden.
A chaque fête, il remettait en liberté un prisonnier, celui qu'on lui demandait.
7 And `oon ther was that was seid Barabas, that was boundun with men of dissencioun, that hadden don manslauytir in seducioun.
Or il y en avait un nommé Bar-Abbas, emprisonné avec les séditieux qui, dans une émeute, avaient commis un meurtre.
8 And whanne the puple was gon vp, he bigan to preie, as he euer more dide to hem.
La foule, étant donc montée au tribunal, se mit à demander ce qu'on lui accordait toujours.
9 And Pilat answeride `to hem, and seide, Wolen ye Y leeue to you the kyng of Jewis?
Pilate alors, qui comprit que c'était par une haine jalouse que les chefs des prêtres lui avaient livré Jésus,
10 For he wiste, that the hiyeste prestis hadden takun hym bi enuye.
fit à la foule cette proposition: «Voulez-vous que je vous délivre «le Roi des Juifs»?
11 But the bischopis stireden the puple, that he schulde rather leeue to hem Barabas.
Mais les chefs des prêtres poussèrent la foule à demander de préférence la mise en liberté de Bar-Abbas.
12 And eftsoone Pilat answerde, and seide to hem, What thanne wolen ye that Y schal do to the kyng of Jewis?
Pilate se fit entendre de nouveau: «Que ferai-je donc de celui que vous appelez «le Roi des Juifs»?
13 And thei eftsoone crieden, Crucifie hym.
Ils crièrent encore: «Crucifie-le!» —
14 But Pilat seide to hem, What yuel hath he don? And thei crieden the more, Crucifie hym.
«Qu'a-t-il donc fait de mal?» reprit Pilate. Mais ils n'en criaient que plus fort: «Crucifie-le!»
15 And Pilat, willynge to make aseeth to the puple, lefte to hem Barabas, and bitok to hem Jhesu, betun with scourgis, to be crucified.
Pilate alors, voulant contenter la multitude, lui délivra Bar-Abbas, et, après avoir fait flageller Jésus, il l'abandonna au supplice de la croix.
16 And knyytis ledden hym with ynneforth, in to the porche of the mote halle. And thei clepiden togidir al the cumpany of knyytis,
Les soldats emmenèrent Jésus à l'intérieur de la cour, c'est-à-dire dans le prétoire, où ils réunirent toute la cohorte.
17 and clothiden hym with purpur. And thei writhen a coroun of thornes, and puttiden on hym.
Ils l'habillèrent d'un manteau couleur de pourpre et lui mirent une couronne d'épines qu'ils avaient tressée.
18 And thei bigunnen to grete hym, and seiden, Heile, thou kyng of Jewis.
Puis ils lui rendirent leurs hommages: «Salut! Roi des Juifs!»
19 And thei smyten his heed with a reed, and bispatten hym; and thei kneliden, and worschipiden hym.
Avec un roseau ils lui donnaient des coups sur la tète; ils crachaient sur lui, et, se mettant à genoux, ils se prosternaient devant lui.
20 And aftir that thei hadden scorned him, thei vnclothiden hym of purpur, and clothiden hym with hise clothis, and ledden out hym, to crucifie hym.
Quand ils eurent fini de se moquer de lui, ils lui ôtèrent le manteau de pourpre et lui remirent ses vêtements. Ils l'emmenèrent pour le crucifier
21 And thei compelliden a man that passide the weie, that cam fro the toun, Symount of Syrenen, the fader of Alisaundir and of Rufe, to bere his cross.
et ils obligèrent un passant, un certain Simon de Cyrène, le père d'Alexandre et de Rufus, qui revenait des champs, à porter sa croix.
22 And thei ledden hym in to a place Golgatha, that is to seie, the place of Caluari.
Ils le conduisirent ainsi à Golgotha, c'est un endroit dont le nom signifie: Le Crâne.
23 And thei yauen to hym to drynke wyn meddlid with mirre, and he took not.
Là ils lui donnèrent du vin mêlé de myrrhe; mais il n'en prit pas.
24 And thei crucifieden him, and departiden hise clothis, and kesten lot on tho, who schulde take what.
Ils le crucifièrent, puis se partagèrent ses vêtements, en tirant au sort la part de chacun.
25 And it was the thridde our, and thei crucifieden hym.
C'est à la troisième heure qu'ils le crucifièrent,
26 And the titil of his cause was writun, Kyng of Jewis.
et l'inscription indiquant son crime était ainsi conçue: LE ROI DES JUIFS.
27 And thei crucifien with hym twei theues, oon `at the riythalf and oon at his lefthalf.
Avec lui deux brigands furent crucifiés, l'un à sa droite, l'autre à sa gauche.
28 And the scripture was fulfillid that seith, And he is ordeyned with wickid men.
(ainsi s'accomplit la parole de l'Ecriture: il a été compté parmi les impies.)
29 And as thei passiden forth, thei blasfemyden hym, mouynge her heedis, and seiynge, Vath! thou that distriest the temple of God, and in `thre daies bildist it ayen;
Les passants l'injuriaient; ils lui disaient, en gesticulant de la tète: «Ohé! toi qui détruis le Temple et le rebâtis en trois jours,
30 come adoun fro the crosse, and make thi silf saaf.
sauve-toi toi-même en descendant de la croix!»
31 Also the hiyeste prestis scorneden hym ech to othir with the scribis, and seiden, He made othir men saaf, he may not saue hym silf.
Les chefs des prêtres avec les Scribes se moquaient aussi de lui et se disaient l'un à l'autre: «Il en a sauvé d'autres et il ne peut pas se sauver lui-même!» —
32 Crist, kyng of Israel, come doun now fro the cross, that we seen, and bileuen. And thei that weren crucified with hym, dispiseden hym.
«Que «le Christ», que «le Roi d'Israël» descende maintenant de la croix, afin que nous voyions et que nous croyions!» Ceux mêmes que l'on avait crucifiés avec lui l'insultaient.
33 And whanne the sixte hour was come, derknessis weren made on al the erthe til in to the nynthe our.
Quand fut venue la sixième heure, des ténèbres se firent sur tout le pays jusqu'à la neuvième heure.
34 And in the nynthe our Jhesus criede with a greet vois, and seide, Heloy, Heloy, lamasabatany, that is to seie, My God, my God, whi hast thou forsakun me?
A la neuvième heure, Jésus jeta un cri et dit d'une voix forte: «Héloï! lema sabachthanei!» ce qui signifie: «Mon Dieu! Mon Dieu! pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné?»
35 And summe of men that stoden aboute herden, and seiden, Lo! he clepith Helye.
Quelques-uns des assistants l'entendant: «Le voilà qui appelle Élie», dirent-ils.
36 And oon ranne, and fillide a spounge with vynegre, and puttide aboute to a reede, and yaf to hym drynke, and seide, Suffre ye, se we, if Helie come to do hym doun.
Il y en eut un qui courut tremper une éponge dans du vinaigre et, l'attachant à un roseau, il lui donna à boire, en disant: «Laissez et voyons si Élie va venir le descendre!»
37 And Jhesus yaf out a greet cry, and diede.
Jésus cependant, ayant jeté un grand cri, expira.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent atwo fro the hiyeste to bynethe.
Et le rideau du Temple se déchira en deux depuis le haut jusqu'en bas.
39 But the centurien that stood forn ayens siy, that he so criynge hadde diede, and seide, Verili, this man was Goddis sone.
Voyant comment il avait expiré, le centurion, qui se tenait en face de lui, dit: «Cet homme-là était véritablement Fils de Dieu.»
40 And ther weren also wymmen biholdynge fro afer, among whiche was Marie Maudeleyn, and Marie, the modir of James the lesse, and of Joseph, and of Salome.
Il y avait là également des femmes qui regardaient de loin. Parmi elles, Marie Magdeleine, Marie, mère de Jacques le Petit et de Josès, et Salomé,
41 And whanne Jhesus was in Galilee, thei folewiden hym, and mynystriden to hym, and many othere wymmen, that camen vp togidir with him to Jerusalem.
qui le suivaient et le servaient lorsqu'il était en Galilée; plusieurs autres encore qui étaient montées avec lui à Jérusalem.
42 And whanne euentid was come, for it was the euentid which is bifor the sabat,
Déjà il se faisait tard, et comme c'était un jour de «Préparation», c'est-à-dire une veille de sabbat,
43 Joseph of Armathie, the noble decurioun, cam, and he abood the rewme of God; and booldli he entride to Pilat, and axide the bodi of Jhesu.
Joseph, celui qui est d'Arimathée, membre estimé du Grand-Conseil, et qui lui aussi attendait le Royaume de Dieu, alla hardiment se présenter à Pilate et lui demanda le corps de Jésus.
44 But Pilat wondride, if he were now deed.
Surpris qu'il fût mort sitôt, Pilate fit appeler le centurion et lui demanda s'il était mort depuis longtemps.
45 And whanne the centurion was clepid, he axide hym, if he were deed; and whanne he knewe of the centurion, he grauntide the bodi of Jhesu to Joseph.
Informé par le centurion, il donna le corps à Joseph.
46 And Joseph bouyte lynnen cloth, and took hym doun, and wlappide in the lynnen cloth, and leide hym in a sepulcre that was hewun of a stoon, and walewide a stoon to the dore of the sepulcre.
Celui-ci, ayant acheté un linceul, descendit le corps de la croix, l'enveloppa du linceul et le déposa dans un sépulcre taillé dans le roc, puis il roula une pierre contre la porte du tombeau.
47 And Marie Maudeleyne and Marie of Joseph bihelden, where he was leid.
Or, Marie Magdeleine et Marie, mère de Josès, regardaient où on le mettait.
