Luke 17
1 And Jhesu seide to hise disciplis, It is impossible that sclaundris come not; but wo to that man, bi whom thei comen.
Or il dit à ses disciples: Il est impossible qu’il n’arrive pas des scandales; mais malheur à celui par qui ils arrivent!
2 It is more profitable to him, if a mylne stoon be put aboute his necke, and he be cast in to the see, than that he sclaundre oon of these litle.
Mieux lui vaudrait qu’on lui mette au cou une meule d’âne, et qu’il soit jeté dans la mer, que de scandaliser un de ces petits.
3 Take ye hede you silf; if thi brothir hath synned ayens thee, blame hym; and if he do penaunce, foryyue hym.
Prenez garde à vous-mêmes. Si ton frère pèche, reprends-le, et s’il se repent, pardonne-lui;
4 And if seuene sithis in the dai he do synne ayens thee, and seuene sithis in the dai he be conuertid to thee, and seie, It forthenkith me, foryyue thou hym.
et si sept fois le jour il pèche contre toi, et que sept fois il retourne à toi, disant: Je me repens, tu lui pardonneras.
5 And the apostlis seiden to the Lord, Encrese to vs feith.
Et les apôtres dirent au Seigneur: Augmente-nous la foi.
6 And the Lord seide, If ye han feith as the corn of seneuei, ye schulen seie to this more tre, Be thou drawun vp bi the rote, and be ouerplauntid in to the see, and it schal obeie to you.
Et le Seigneur dit: Si vous avez de la foi comme un grain de moutarde, vous diriez à ce mûrier: Déracine-toi, et plante-toi dans la mer; et il vous obéirait.
7 But who of you hath a seruaunt erynge, or lesewynge oxis, which seith to hym, whanne he turneth ayen fro the feeld, Anoon go, and sitte to mete;
Mais qui est celui d’entre vous, qui, ayant un esclave labourant ou paissant [le bétail], quand il revient des champs, dise: Avance-toi de suite et mets-toi à table?
8 and seith not to hym, Make redi, that Y soupe, and girde thee, and serue me, while Y ete and drynke, and aftir this thou schalt ete and drynke;
Ne lui dira-t-il pas au contraire: Apprête-moi à souper et ceins-toi, et me sers jusqu’à ce que j’aie mangé et bu; et après cela, tu mangeras et tu boiras, toi?
9 whether he hath grace to that seruaunt, for he dide that that he comaundide hym?
Est-il obligé à l’esclave de ce qu’il a fait ce qui avait été commandé? Je ne le pense pas.
10 Nay, Y gesse. So ye, whanne ye han don alle thingis that ben comaundid to you, seie ye, We ben vnprofitable seruauntis, we han do that that we ouyten to do.
Ainsi, vous aussi, quand vous aurez fait toutes les choses qui vous ont été commandées, dites: Nous sommes des esclaves inutiles; ce que nous étions obligés de faire, nous l’avons fait.
11 And it was do, the while Jhesus wente in to Jerusalem, he passide thorou the myddis of Samarie, and Galilee.
Et il arriva qu’en allant à Jérusalem, il traversait la Samarie et la Galilée.
12 And whanne he entride in to a castel, ten leprouse men camen ayens hym, whiche stoden afer,
Et comme il entrait dans un village, dix hommes lépreux le rencontrèrent; et ils s’arrêtèrent de loin;
13 and reiseden her voys, and seiden, Jhesu, comaundoure, haue merci on vs.
et ils élevèrent la voix, disant: Jésus, maître, aie pitié de nous!
14 And as he say hem, he seide, Go ye, `schewe ye you to the prestis. And it was don, the while thei wenten, thei weren clensid.
Et les voyant, il leur dit: Allez, montrez-vous aux sacrificateurs. Et il arriva qu’en s’en allant ils furent rendus nets.
15 And oon of hem, as he saiy that he was clensid, wente ayen, magnifiynge God with grete vois.
Or l’un d’entre eux, voyant qu’il était guéri, revint sur ses pas, glorifiant Dieu à haute voix;
16 And he fel doun on the face bifore hise feet, and dide thankyngis; and this was a Samaritan.
et il se jeta sur sa face aux pieds de Jésus, lui rendant grâces. Et c’était un Samaritain.
17 And Jhesus answerde, and seide, Whether ten ben not clensid, and where ben the nyne?
Et Jésus, répondant, dit: Les dix n’ont-ils pas été rendus nets? Et les neuf, où sont-ils?
18 There is noon foundun, that turnede ayen, and yaf glorie to God, but this alien.
Il ne s’en est point trouvé qui soient revenus pour donner gloire à Dieu, si ce n’est cet étranger.
19 And he seide to hym, Rise vp, go thou; for thi feith hath maad thee saaf.
Et il lui dit: Lève-toi, et t’en va; ta foi t’a guéri.
20 And he was axid of Farisees, whanne the rewme of God cometh. And he answerde to hem, and seide, The rewme of God cometh not with aspiyng,
Or, étant interrogé par les pharisiens quand viendrait le royaume de Dieu, il leur répondit et dit: Le royaume de Dieu ne vient pas de manière à attirer l’attention;
21 nether thei schulen seie, Lo! here, or lo there; for lo! the rewme of God is with ynne you.
et on ne dira pas: Voici, il est ici; ou, voilà, il est là. Car voici, le royaume de Dieu est au milieu de vous.
22 And he seide to hise disciplis, Daies schulen come, whanne ye schulen desire to se o dai of mannus sone, and ye schulen not se.
Et il dit aux disciples: Les jours viendront où vous désirerez de voir l’un des jours du fils de l’homme, et vous ne le verrez pas.
23 And thei schulen seie to you, Lo! here, and lo there. Nyle ye go, nether sue ye;
Et on vous dira: Voici, il est ici; ou, voilà, il est là. N’y allez pas, et ne les suivez pas.
24 for as leyt schynynge from vndur heuene schyneth in to tho thingis that ben vndur heuene, so schal mannus sone be in his dai.
Car comme l’éclair qui brille, luit de l’un des côtés de dessous le ciel jusqu’à l’autre côté de dessous le ciel, ainsi sera le fils de l’homme en son jour.
25 But first it bihoueth hym to suffre many thingis, and to be repreued of this generacioun.
Mais auparavant il faut qu’il souffre beaucoup, et qu’il soit rejeté par cette génération.
26 And as it was doon in the daies of Noe, so it schal be in the daies of mannys sone.
Et comme il arriva aux jours de Noé, ainsi en sera-t-il aux jours du fils de l’homme aussi:
27 Thei eeten and drunkun, weddiden wyues, and weren youun to weddyngis, til in to the dai in the whych Noe entride in to the schip; and the greet flood cam, and loste alle.
on mangeait, on buvait, on se mariait, on donnait en mariage, jusqu’au jour où Noé entra dans l’arche; et le déluge vint, et les fit tous périr.
28 Also as it was don in the daies of Loth, thei eeten and drunkun, bouyten and seelden, plauntiden and bildiden; but the dai that Loth wente out of Sodome,
De même aussi, comme il arriva aux jours de Lot: on mangeait, on buvait, on achetait, on vendait, on plantait, on bâtissait;
29 the Lord reynede fier and brymstoon fro heuene, and loste alle.
mais, au jour où Lot sortit de Sodome, il plut du feu et du soufre du ciel, qui les fit tous périr;
30 Lijk this thing it schal be, in what dai mannys sone schal be schewid.
il en sera de même au jour où le fils de l’homme sera manifesté.
31 In that our he that is in the roof, and his vessels in the hous, come he not doun to take hem awei; and he that schal be in the feeld, also turne not ayen bihynde.
En ce jour-là, que celui qui sera sur le toit et qui aura ses effets dans la maison, ne descende pas pour les emporter; et pareillement que celui qui sera aux champs ne retourne pas en arrière.
32 Be ye myndeful of the wijf of Loth.
Souvenez-vous de la femme de Lot.
33 Who euer seketh to make his lijf saaf, schal leese it; and who euer leesith it, schal quykene it.
Quiconque cherchera à sauver sa vie, la perdra; et quiconque la perdra, la gagnera.
34 But Y seie to you, in that nyyt twei schulen be in o bed, oon schal be takun, and the tothir forsakun;
Je vous dis qu’en cette nuit-là deux seront sur un même lit, l’un sera pris et l’autre laissé;
35 twei wymmen schulen be gryndynge togidir, `the toon schal be takun, and `the tother forsakun; twei in a feeld, `the toon schal be takun, and `the tother left.
deux femmes moudront ensemble, l’une sera prise et l’autre laissée;
36 Thei answeren, and seien to hym, Where, Lord?
[deux seront aux champs, l’un sera pris et l’autre laissé].
37 Which seide to hym, Where euer the bodi schal be, thidur schulen be gaderid togidere also the eglis.
Et répondant, ils lui disent: Où, Seigneur? Et il leur dit: Là où est le corps, là aussi s’assembleront les aigles.
