Jeremiah 47
1 The word of the Lord, that was maad to Jeremye, the profete, ayens Palestyns, bifor that Farao smoot Gaza.
Beseda od Gospoda, ki je prišla preroku Jeremiju zoper Filistejce, preden je faraon udaril Gazo.
2 The Lord seith these thingis, Lo! watris schulen stie fro the north, and tho schulen be as a stronde flowynge, and tho schulen hile the lond, and the fulnesse therof, the citee, and the dwelleris therof. Men schulen crie, and alle the dwelleris of the lond schulen yelle,
»Tako govori Gospod: ›Glej, vode se dvigujejo iz severa in bodo preplavljajoča poplava in bodo poplavile deželo in vse, kar je v njej; mesto in tiste, ki prebivajo v njem. Potem bodo ljudje jokali in vsi prebivalci dežele bodo tulili
3 for the noise of boost of armed men, and of werriours of hym, and for mouyng of hise cartis, and multitude of hise wheelis. Fadris bihelden not sones with clumsid hondis,
ob hrupu topotanja kopit njegovih močnih konj, ob drvenju njegovih bojnih voz in ob hrumenju njegovih koles. Očetje ne bodo gledali nazaj k svojim otrokom zaradi slabotnosti rok,

zaradi dneva, ki prihaja, da opleni vse Filistejce in da iztrebi iz Tira in Sidóna vsakega pomočnika, ki preostaja, kajti Gospod bo oplenil Filistejce, ostanek dežele Kaftor.
5 Ballidnesse cam on Gaza; Ascolon was stille, and the remenauntis of the valei of tho.
Plešavost je prišla nad Gazo; Aškelón je iztrebljen s preostankom njihove doline. Doklej boš zarezoval samega sebe?
6 Hou longe schalt thou falle doun, O! swerd of the Lord, hou long schalt thou not reste? Entre thou in to thi schethe, be thou refreischid, and be stille.
Oh ti, Gospodov meč, kako dolgo bo trajalo, preden boš tiho? Spravi se v svojo nožnico, počivaj in bodi miren.
7 Hou schal it reste, whanne the Lord comaundide to it ayens Ascalon, and ayens the see coostis therof, and there hath seide to it?
Kako je lahko tiho, glede na to, da mu je Gospod dal naročilo zoper Aškelón in zoper morsko obalo? Tam ga je on določil.‹«
