Ephesians 3
1 For the grace of this thing I Poul, the boundun of Crist Jhesu, for you hethene men,
Voilà pourquoi, moi Paul, prisonnier de Jésus-Christ, pour vous païens...
2 if netheles ye han herd the dispensacioun of Goddis grace, that is youun to me in you.
Vous savez quelle charge Dieu, dans sa grâce, m'a conférée auprès de vous,
3 For bi reuelacioun the sacrament is maad knowun to me, as Y aboue wroot in schort thing,
et comment c'est une révélation qui m'a initié au mystère; je viens de vous en dire quelques mots.
4 as ye moun rede, and vndurstonde my prudence in the mysterie of Crist.
Vous pouvez comprendre, en les lisant, l'intelligence que j'ai de ce mystère du Christ.
5 Which was not knowun to othere generaciouns to the sones of men, as it is now schewid to his hooli apostlis and prophetis in the spirit,
Dans les autres âges, les hommes ne l'ont pas connu, tel que l'Esprit vient de le révéler aux saints apôtres du Christ, qui sont aussi prophètes.
6 that hethene men ben euen eiris, and of oo bodi, and parteneris togidere of his biheest in Crist Jhesu bi the euangelie;
Le voici: les païens héritent avec nous, ils font partie avec nous du même corps; ils ont leur part de la même promesse faite en Jésus-Christ et par l'Évangile,
7 whos mynystre Y am maad, bi the yifte of Goddis grace, which is youun to me bi the worchyng of his vertu.
et j'en ai été fait ministre; c'est un don de la grâce de Dieu qui m'a été accordé par sa puissante intervention.
8 To me, leeste of alle seyntis, this grace is youun to preche among hethene men the vnserchable richessis of Crist,
Oui, cette grâce m'a été faite, à moi le moindre des fidèles, d'annoncer aux païens l'insondable richesse du Christ,
9 and to liytne alle men, which is the dispensacioun of sacrament hid fro worldis in God, that made alle thingis of nouyt; (aiōn g165)
et d'éclairer tout le monde sur la vraie nature du mystère caché de toute éternité en Dieu, créateur de l'univers. (aiōn g165)
10 that the myche fold wisdom of God be knowun to princis and potestatis in heuenli thingis bi the chirche,
Il faut que maintenant les puissances et les pouvoirs qui le règnent dans les cieux apprennent de l'Église à connaître l'infinie sagesse de Dieu.
C'est là l'éternel dessein que Dieu avait formé en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur. (aiōn g165)
12 In whom we han trist and nyy comyng, in tristenyng bi the feith of hym.
C'est en lui, c'est par la foi en lui que nous nous approchons de Dieu avec courage et confiance.
13 For which thing Y axe, that ye faile not in my tribulaciouns for you, which is youre glorie.
Voilà pourquoi je vous prie de ne pas perdre courage à cause des tribulations que j'endure pour votre bien. Elles sont plutôt pour vous un sujet de gloire.
14 For grace of this thing Y bowe my knees to the fadir of oure Lord Jhesu Crist,
Voilà pourquoi aussi je me mets à genoux devant le Père
15 of whom ech fadirhod in heuenes and in erthe is named,
(qui donne son nom à tout ce qui est famille, soit dans le ciel, soit sur la terre ),
16 that he yyue to you, aftir the richessis of his glorie, vertu to be strengthid bi his spirit in the ynnere man,
pour qu'il vous accorde, dans sa glorieuse richesse, d'être puissamment fortifié par son Esprit dans votre être intérieur;
17 that Crist dwelle bi feith in youre hertis; that ye rootid and groundid in charite,
qu'il fasse que le Christ habite dans vos coeurs, par la foi; que vous preniez racine dans l'amour;
18 moun comprehende with alle seyntis, which is the breede, and the lengthe, and the hiynesse, and the depnesse;
qu'en lui, vous ayez votre fondement; que vous arriviez à comprendre, avec tous les fidèles, quelle en est la largeur, la longueur, la profondeur, la hauteur;
19 also to wite the charite of Crist more excellent than science, that ye be fillid in al the plentee of God.
que vous connaissiez l'amour du Christ qui dépasse toute connaissance, et qu'enfin vous soyez remplis de toute la plénitude de Dieu.
20 And to hym that is myyti to do alle thingis more plenteuousli than we axen or vndurstondun, bi the vertu that worchith in vs,
A celui qui peut faire, pour nous, beaucoup plus, infiniment plus que tout ce que nous demandons et comprenons, grâce à sa puissance qui agit en nous,
