Deuteronomy 6

1 These ben the comaundementis, and cerymonyes, and domes, whiche youre Lord God comaundide that Y schulde teche you, and that ye do tho in the lond to which ye passen ouer to welde;

Selanjutnya Musa mengajarkan kepada umat Israel, katanya, “TUHAN Allah kita menyuruh saya menyampaikan berbagai perintah, ketetapan, dan peraturan ini kepada kalian. Taatilah semua ini di negeri yang akan kalian masuki dan duduki.

2 that thou drede thi Lord God, and kepe alle hise comaundementis, and heestis, whiche Y comaunde to thee, and to thi sones, and sones of sones, in alle the daies of thi lijf, that thi daies be lengthid.

Kalian dan keturunanmu harus takut dan hormat kepada TUHAN Allahmu, dan seumur hidupmu kalian harus menaati semua ketetapan dan perintah-Nya yang sedang saya sampaikan ini, supaya kalian boleh tetap tinggal di negeri itu.

3 Thou Israel, here, and kepe, that thou do tho thingis whiche the Lord comaundide to thee, and that it be wel to thee, and thou be multiplied more, as the Lord God of thi fadris bihiyte, to yyue to thee a lond flowynge with mylk and hony.

Dengarlah, hai orang Israel, dan taatilah semua ini dengan cermat, supaya hidupmu semakin sejahtera dan keturunanmu semakin banyak ketika sudah mendiami negeri yang kaya dan subur itu. Karena demikianlah janji TUHAN, Allah nenek moyang kita, kepada kalian.

4 Thou Israel, here, thi Lord God is o God.

“Dengarlah, hai orang Israel. TUHAN Allahmu adalah satu-satunya Allah.

5 Thou schalt loue thi Lord God of al thin herte, and of al thi soule, and of al thi strengthe.

Kasihilah TUHAN Allah dengan segenap hatimu, dengan segenap nafas hidupmu, dan dengan seluruh kekuatanmu.

6 And these wordis whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, schulen be in thin herte;

Tanamkanlah di dalam hatimu perintah-perintah TUHAN yang saya sampaikan hari ini.

7 and thou schalt telle tho to thi sones, and thou schalt thenke on tho, sittynge in thin hows, and goynge in the weie, slepynge, and rysinge.

Ajarkanlah perintah-perintah ini berulang kali kepada anak-anakmu setiap waktu, baik pada waktu berada di rumah maupun dalam perjalanan, baik waktu beristirahat maupun waktu bekerja.

8 And thou schalt bynde tho as a signe in thin hond; and tho schulen be, and schulen be moued bifor thin iyen; and thou schalt write tho in the lyntel,

Tuliskanlah perintah-perintah ini pada tiang pintu rumahmu, pintu gerbang kotamu, bahkan ikatkanlah tulisan perintah-perintah ini pada tanganmu dan dahimu, agar kalian selalu ingat dan melakukannya.

9 and in the doris of thin hows.

10 And whanne thi Lord God hath brouyt thee in to the lond, for which he swoor to thi fadris, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath youe to thee grete citees, and beeste, whiche thou bildidist not,

“TUHAN Allahmu akan membawa kalian masuk ke negeri yang dijanjikan-Nya kepada nenek moyang kita, yaitu Abraham, Isak, dan Yakub. Dia akan memberikan kepada kalian kota-kota besar dan makmur yang tidak kalian bangun,

11 housis fulle of alle richessis, whiche thou madist not, and cisternes, which thou diggedist not, `places of vynes, and `places of olyues, whiche thou plauntidist not,

rumah-rumah yang penuh dengan berbagai harta yang tidak kalian kumpulkan, sumur-sumur yang tidak kalian gali, juga kebun-kebun anggur dan zaitun yang tidak kalian tanam. Sesudah TUHAN membawamu masuk ke negeri itu dan kalian dapat makan semua yang kalian inginkan sampai puas,

12 and thou hast ete, and art fillid,

maka hati-hatilah! Jangan melupakan TUHAN yang sudah membawamu keluar dari perbudakan di Mesir.

13 be war diligentli, lest thou foryete the Lord, that ladde thee out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hows of seruage. Thou schalt drede thi Lord God, and thou schalt serue hym aloone, `bi seruyce due to God onely, and thou schalt swere bi his name.

Takut dan hormatlah kepada TUHAN. Mengabdilah hanya kepada-Nya. Dan saat kalian membuat suatu perjanjian, sahkanlah selalu dengan menyebut nama TUHAN seperti ini, ‘Biar TUHAN menghukum aku kalau aku tidak menepatinya.’

14 Ye schulen not go aftir alien goddis, of alle hethen men that ben `in youre cumpas;

“Jangan menyembah dewa-dewa segala bangsa lain di sekitar kalian,

15 for God is a feruent louyere, thi Lord God is in the myddis of thee, lest ony tyme the `strong veniaunce of thi Lord God be wrooth ayens thee, and do awei thee fro `the face of the erthe.

karena TUHAN Allahmu yang tinggal di tengah-tengahmu adalah Allah yang cemburu. Jika kalian menyembah dewa, Dia akan murka kepada kalian dan melenyapkan kalian dari bumi ini.

16 Thou schalt not tempte thi Lord God, as thou temptidist in the place of temptyng.

Janganlah mencobai TUHAN Allah, seperti yang dilakukan nenek moyangmu ketika berkemah di padang belantara Masa.

17 Kepe thou the comaundementis of thi Lord God, and the witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee;

Patuhilah dengan cermat semua perintah, peraturan, dan ketetapan TUHAN, yang sudah Dia perintahkan kepada kalian.

18 and do thou that that is plesaunt and good in the siyt of the Lord, that it be wel to thee, and that thou entre, and welde the beste lond, of which the Lord swoor to thi fadris,

Lakukanlah apa yang benar dan menyenangkan TUHAN, supaya kalian hidup sejahtera, dan supaya TUHAN menggenapi janji-Nya yang sudah disahkan dengan nenek moyang kita, bahwa Dia akan mengusir semua musuhmu agar kamu semua bisa masuk dan menduduki negeri Kanaan yang subur itu.

19 that he schulde do awey alle thin enemyes bifor thee, as he spak.

20 And whanne thi sone schal axe thee to morewe, that is, in tyme comyng, and schal seie, What wolen these witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, and domes to hem silf, whiche oure Lord God comaundide to vs?

“Di kemudian hari, ketika anakmu bertanya, ‘Apakah arti peraturan, ketetapan, dan hukum yang TUHAN Allah kita perintahkan?’

21 thou schalt seie to hym, We weren `seruauntis of Farao in Egipt, and the Lord ledde vs out of Egipt, in strong hond;

jawablah begini, ‘Dahulu orangtua kita adalah budak raja Mesir, tetapi TUHAN membawa keluarga kita keluar dari situ dengan kuasa-Nya yang hebat.

22 and he dide myraclis, and grete wondris, and werste, `that is, moost peyneful veniaunces, in Egipt, ayens Farao and al his hows, in oure siyt.

Orangtua kita melihat TUHAN melakukan banyak keajaiban yang membuat raja Mesir dan seluruh rakyatnya menderita.

23 And he ledde vs out therof, that he schulde yyue to vs led yn, the lond of which he swoor to oure fadris.

TUHAN membawa kita keluar dari Mesir lalu membawa kita masuk ke negeri ini dan memberikan negeri ini kepada kita, sesuai janji-Nya kepada nenek moyang kita.

24 And the Lord comaundide to vs, that we do alle these lawful thingis, and drede oure Lord God, that it be wel to vs in alle the daies of oure lijf, as it is to dai.

Dan TUHAN memerintahkan kita untuk selalu takut dan hormat kepada-Nya, serta mematuhi semua ketetapan ini, supaya kita selalu hidup sejahtera dan supaya Dia memelihara hidup kita, seperti yang sudah kita alami sampai hari ini.

25 And he schal be merciful to vs, if we schulen do and kepe alle hise heestis, bifor oure Lord God, as he comaundide to vs.

Kalau kita taat kepada semua perintah TUHAN Allah, kita akan tetap benar dalam pandangan-Nya.’”
