Deuteronomy 6
1 These ben the comaundementis, and cerymonyes, and domes, whiche youre Lord God comaundide that Y schulde teche you, and that ye do tho in the lond to which ye passen ouer to welde;
Voici le commandement, les lois et les ordonnances que Yahweh, votre Dieu, a ordonné de vous enseigner, pour que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,
2 that thou drede thi Lord God, and kepe alle hise comaundementis, and heestis, whiche Y comaunde to thee, and to thi sones, and sones of sones, in alle the daies of thi lijf, that thi daies be lengthid.
afin que tu craignes Yahweh, ton Dieu, toi, ton fils et le fils de ton fils, en observant, tous les jours de ta vie, toutes ses lois et tous ses commandements que je te prescris, et afin que tes jours soient prolongés.
3 Thou Israel, here, and kepe, that thou do tho thingis whiche the Lord comaundide to thee, and that it be wel to thee, and thou be multiplied more, as the Lord God of thi fadris bihiyte, to yyue to thee a lond flowynge with mylk and hony.
Tu les écouteras, Israël, et tu auras soin de les mettre en pratique, afin que tu sois heureux et que vous multipliiez beaucoup, comme te l’a dit Yahweh, le Dieu de tes pères, dans un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
4 Thou Israel, here, thi Lord God is o God.
Ecoute, Israël: Yahweh, notre Dieu, est seul Yahweh.
5 Thou schalt loue thi Lord God of al thin herte, and of al thi soule, and of al thi strengthe.
Tu aimeras Yahweh, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta force.
6 And these wordis whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, schulen be in thin herte;
Et ces commandements que je te donne aujourd’hui, seront dans ton cœur.
7 and thou schalt telle tho to thi sones, and thou schalt thenke on tho, sittynge in thin hows, and goynge in the weie, slepynge, and rysinge.
Tu les inculqueras à tes enfants, et tu en parleras quand tu seras dans ta maison, quand tu iras en voyage, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras.
8 And thou schalt bynde tho as a signe in thin hond; and tho schulen be, and schulen be moued bifor thin iyen; and thou schalt write tho in the lyntel,
Tu les attacheras sur ta main pour te servir de signe, et ils seront comme un frontal entre tes yeux.
9 and in the doris of thin hows.
Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes.
10 And whanne thi Lord God hath brouyt thee in to the lond, for which he swoor to thi fadris, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath youe to thee grete citees, and beeste, whiche thou bildidist not,
Lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, t’aura fait entrer dans le pays qu’il a juré à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob, de te donner: grandes et bonnes villes que tu n’as pas bâties,
11 housis fulle of alle richessis, whiche thou madist not, and cisternes, which thou diggedist not, `places of vynes, and `places of olyues, whiche thou plauntidist not,
maisons pleines de toutes sortes de biens que tu n’as pas remplies, citernes que tu n’as pas creusées, vignes et oliviers que tu n’as pas plantés; lorsque tu mangeras et te rassasieras,
12 and thou hast ete, and art fillid,
garde-toi d’oublier Yahweh, qui t’a fait sortir du pays d’Égypte, de la maison de servitude.
13 be war diligentli, lest thou foryete the Lord, that ladde thee out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hows of seruage. Thou schalt drede thi Lord God, and thou schalt serue hym aloone, `bi seruyce due to God onely, and thou schalt swere bi his name.
Tu craindras Yahweh ton Dieu, tu le serviras et tu jureras par son nom.
14 Ye schulen not go aftir alien goddis, of alle hethen men that ben `in youre cumpas;
Vous n’irez pas après d’autres dieux, d’entre les dieux des peuples, qui seront autour de vous.
15 for God is a feruent louyere, thi Lord God is in the myddis of thee, lest ony tyme the `strong veniaunce of thi Lord God be wrooth ayens thee, and do awei thee fro `the face of the erthe.
Car Yahweh, ton Dieu, qui est au milieu de toi, est un Dieu jaloux; la colère de Yahweh, ton Dieu, s’enflammerait contre toi, et il t’exterminerait de dessus la terre.
16 Thou schalt not tempte thi Lord God, as thou temptidist in the place of temptyng.
Vous ne tenterez pas Yahweh, votre Dieu, comme vous l’avez tenté à Massah.
17 Kepe thou the comaundementis of thi Lord God, and the witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee;
Mais vous observerez avec soin les commandements de Yahweh, votre Dieu, ses préceptes et ses lois qu’il t’a prescrites.
18 and do thou that that is plesaunt and good in the siyt of the Lord, that it be wel to thee, and that thou entre, and welde the beste lond, of which the Lord swoor to thi fadris,
Tu feras ce qui est droit et bon aux yeux de Yahweh, afin que tu sois heureux, que tu entres, pour le posséder, dans le bon pays que Yahweh a promis par serment à tes pères,
19 that he schulde do awey alle thin enemyes bifor thee, as he spak.
lorsqu’il aura chassé tous tes ennemis devant toi comme Yahweh l’a dit.
20 And whanne thi sone schal axe thee to morewe, that is, in tyme comyng, and schal seie, What wolen these witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, and domes to hem silf, whiche oure Lord God comaundide to vs?
Lorsque ton fils t’interrogera un jour en disant: « Qu’est-ce que ces commandements, ces lois et ces ordonnances que Yahweh, notre Dieu, vous a prescrits? »
21 thou schalt seie to hym, We weren `seruauntis of Farao in Egipt, and the Lord ledde vs out of Egipt, in strong hond;
tu diras à ton fils: « Nous étions esclaves de Pharaon, en Égypte, et Yahweh nous a fait sortir de l’Égypte par sa main puissante.
22 and he dide myraclis, and grete wondris, and werste, `that is, moost peyneful veniaunces, in Egipt, ayens Farao and al his hows, in oure siyt.
Yahweh a opéré, sous nos yeux, des miracles et des prodiges grands et terribles contre l’Égypte, contre Pharaon et contre toute sa maison;
23 And he ledde vs out therof, that he schulde yyue to vs led yn, the lond of which he swoor to oure fadris.
et il nous a fait sortir de là, pour nous amener dans le pays qu’il avait promis par serment à nos pères.
24 And the Lord comaundide to vs, that we do alle these lawful thingis, and drede oure Lord God, that it be wel to vs in alle the daies of oure lijf, as it is to dai.
Yahweh nous a commandé de mettre en pratique toutes ces lois et de craindre Yahweh, notre Dieu, afin que nous soyons toujours heureux et qu’il nous conserve en vie, comme il le fait aujourd’hui.
25 And he schal be merciful to vs, if we schulen do and kepe alle hise heestis, bifor oure Lord God, as he comaundide to vs.
Et ce sera pour nous la justice, si nous prenons garde à pratiquer tous ces préceptes en présence de Yahweh, notre Dieu, comme il nous l’a ordonné. »
