2 Corinthians 1

1 Poul, apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the wille of God, and Tymothe, brothir, to the chirche of God that is at Corinthi, with alle seyntis that ben in al Acaie, grace to you,

Paulus, Apostel Christi Jesu durch den Willen Gottes, und der Bruder Timotheus an die Gemeinde Gottes in Korinth und an alle Heiligen, die in ganz Achaia sind.

2 and pees of God oure fadir and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.

Gnade werde euch zuteil und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und von dem Herrn Jesus Christus.

3 Blessid be God and the fadir of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, fadir of mercies, and God of al coumfort,

Gepriesen sei der Gott und Vater unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, der Vater der Erbarmungen und der Gott alles Trostes.

4 which coumfortith vs in al oure tribulacioun, that also we moun coumforte hem, that ben in al diseese, bi the monestyng bi which also we ben monestid of God.

Er tröstet uns in all unserer Bedrängnis, damit auch wir andere in jeglicher Bedrängnis trösten können durch den Trost, mit dem wir selbst von Gott getröstet werden.

5 For as the passiouns of Crist ben plenteuouse in vs, so also bi Crist oure coumfort is plenteuouse.

Denn wie die Leiden Christi uns in überreichem Maß getroffen haben, so wird durch Christus uns auch überreicher Trost zuteil.

6 And whether we ben in tribulacioun, for youre tribulacioun and heelthe, ethir we ben coumfortid, for youre coumfort, ethir we ben monestid, for youre monestyng and heelthe. Which worchith in you the suffring of the same passiouns, whiche `we also suffren,

Und mögen wir auch in Bedrängnis kommen, alsdann geschieht es zu eurem Trost und Heil, und mögen wir getröstet werden, alsdann geschieht es zu eurem Troste und mögen wir ermuntert werden, dann geschieht es zu eurer Ermunterung und zu eurem Heil, so daß ihr gleiche Leiden, wie wir sie dulden, geduldig ertragen könnt.

7 that oure hope be sad for you; witynge for as ye ben felowis of passiouns, so ye schulen ben also of coumfort.

So steht denn unsere Hoffnung für euch fest begründet, weil wir wissen, daß ihr am Leiden ebenso teilhabt wie am Troste.

8 For, britheren, we wolen that ye wite of oure tribulacioun, that was don in Asie; for ouer maner we weren greued ouer myyt, so that it anoiede vs, yhe, to lyue.

Wir möchten nämlich euch, ihr Brüder, nicht in Unkenntnis lassen über die Bedrängnis, die wir in Asien zu erdulden hatten. Sie traf uns ungewöhnlich schwer, ja, über unsere Kraft, so daß wir am Leben selbst verzweifelten;

9 But we in vs silf hadden answere of deth, that we truste not in vs, but in God that reisith deed men.

wir trugen unser Todesurteil schon in uns. Wir sollten eben das Vertrauen nicht auf uns selbst setzen, vielmehr auf Gott, der die Toten auferweckt.

10 Which delyuerede vs, and delyuerith fro so grete perelis, in to whom we hopen, also yit he schal delyuere,

Er hat uns auch aus dieser großen Todesnot gerettet und rettet uns noch immer und wird, so hoffen wir, auch fernerhin uns retten,

11 while also ye helpen in preier for vs; that of the persones of many faces of that yyuyng that is in vs, thankyngis ben don for vs bi many men to God.

wenn nur ihr durch euer Beten für uns mithelft, damit aus vieler Mund von vielen für uns gedankt werde für die an uns erzeigte Gnade.

12 For oure glorie is this, the witnessyng of oure conscience, that in symplenesse and clennesse of God, and not in fleischli wisdom, but in the grace of God, we lyueden in this world, but more plenteuousli to you.

Unser Ruhm ist das Zeugnis unseres Gewissens, daß wir in Gottes Heiligkeit und Lauterkeit in der Welt gewandelt sind und nicht in irdischer Weisheit, vielmehr in der Liebe Gottes, zumal wenn es dabei sich um euch handelt.

13 And we writen not othere thingis to you, than tho that ye han red and knowe, and Y hope that in to the ende ye schulen knowe,

Denn unsere Schreiben wollen nichts anderes bedeuten, als was ihr lest und versteht. Ich hoffe, daß ihr es bis ans Ende verstehen werdet,

14 as also ye han knowe vs a parti; for we ben youre glorie, as also ye ben oure in the dai of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.

wie ihr zum Teil uns schon verstanden habt, daß nämlich wir euer Ruhm sind, wie auch ihr der unsrige am Tag unseres Herrn Jesus.

15 And in this tristyng Y wolde first come to you, that ye schulden haue the secounde grace,

Erfüllt von solcher Zuversicht hatte ich im Sinne, zunächst zu euch zu kommen, damit ihr eine zweite Gnade hättet.

16 and passe bi you in to Macedonye, and eft fro Macedonye come to you, and of you be led in to Judee.

Von euch wollte ich sodann nach Mazedonien weiterreisen und wiederum von Mazedonien zu euch zurück, um mir von euch dann das Geleit nach Judäa zu erbitten.

17 But whanne Y wolde this thing, whether Y vside vnstidfastnesse, ether tho thingis that Y thenke, Y thenke aftir the fleisch, that at me be, it is and it is not?

War es nun Leichtsinn, der mich bei diesem Plane geleitet hat? Oder fasse ich Entschlüsse nur nach Laune, daß es bei mir zugleich "ja, ja" und "nein, nein" heißt?

18 But God is trewe, for oure word that was at you is and is not, is not ther ynne, but is is in it.

So wahr Gott getreu ist: Nicht Ja und Nein zugleich ist unser Wort an euch.

19 For whi Jhesus Crist, the sone of God, which is prechid among you bi vs, bi me, and Syluan, and Tymothe, ther was not in hym is and is not, but is was in hym.

Denn Jesus Christus, der Sohn Gottes, der euch durch uns verkündigt ward, durch mich, Silvanus und Timotheus, war auch nicht Ja und Nein; sondern in ihm ist "Ja" zur Wirklichkeit geworden.

20 For whi hou many euer ben biheestis of God, in thilke is, `that is, ben fillid. And therfor and bi hym we seien amen to God, to oure glorie.

In ihm ist alles das bejaht worden, was Gott verheißen hat. Darum dient auch in ihm das "Amen" Gott zum Lobe durch uns.

21 Sotheli it is God that confermeth vs with you in Crist, and the which God anoyntide vs,

Der uns mit euch in Christus gegründet und gesalbt hat, ist Gott;

22 and which markide vs, and yaf ernes of the spirit in oure hertis.

er hat uns auch das Siegel aufgedrückt sowie den Geist als Unterpfand in unser Herz gegeben.

23 For Y clepide God to witnesse ayens my soule, that Y sparynge you cam not ouer to Corynthe;

Ich rufe Gott zum Zeugen auf, bei meinem Leben, daß ich nur deshalb noch nicht nach Korinth gekommen bin, um euch zu schonen.

24 not that we ben lordis of youre feith, but we ben helperis of youre ioye; for thorouy bileue ye stonden.

Nicht so, als wollten wir euren Glauben meistern, sondern wir möchten euch zur Freude verhelfen; im Glauben steht ihr ja fest.
