< Psalms 44 >

1 For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm. We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
Fún adarí orin. Ti àwọn ọmọ Kora. Maskili. À ti fi etí wa gbọ́, Ọlọ́run; àwọn baba wa tí sọ fún wa ohun tí ìwọ ṣe ní ọjọ́ wọn, ní ọjọ́ pípẹ́ sẹ́yìn.
2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
Ìwọ fi ọwọ́ rẹ lé orílẹ̀-èdè jáde, Ìwọ sì gbin àwọn baba wa; ìwọ run àwọn ènìyàn náà Ìwọ sì mú àwọn baba wa gbilẹ̀.
3 For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
Kì í ṣe nípa idà wọn ni wọ́n gba ilẹ̀ náà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì í ṣe apá wọn ní ó gbà wọ́n bí kò ṣe; ọwọ́ ọ̀tún rẹ̀ àti, apá rẹ; àti ìmọ́lẹ̀ ojú rẹ̀, nítorí ìwọ fẹ́ wọn.
4 God, you are my King. Command victories for Jacob!
Ìwọ ni ọba àti Ọlọ́run mi, ẹni tí ó pàṣẹ ìṣẹ́gun fún Jakọbu.
5 Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
Nípasẹ̀ rẹ ni àwa ó bi àwọn ọ̀tá wa ṣubú; nípasẹ̀ orúkọ rẹ ni àwa ó tẹ àwọn ọ̀tá tí ó dìde sí wa mọ́lẹ̀,
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
èmi kì yóò gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọrun mi, idà mi kì yóò mú ìṣẹ́gun lórí àwọn ọ̀tá wá,
7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ fún wa ní ìṣẹ́gun lórí àwọn ọ̀tá wa, ìwọ sì ti dójúti àwọn tí ó kórìíra wa.
8 In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. (Selah)
Nínú Ọlọ́run àwa ń ṣògo ní gbogbo ọjọ́, àwa ó sì yin orúkọ rẹ títí láé. (Sela)
9 But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ìwọ ti kọ̀ wá, ìwọ sì ti dójútì wá, Ìwọ kò sì bá àwọn ọmọ-ogun wa jáde mọ́.
10 You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
Ìwọ ti bá wa jà, ìwọ sì ti ṣẹ́gun wa níwájú àwọn ọ̀tá wa, àwọn ọ̀tá wa ti gba ilẹ̀ wa, wọ́n sì fi ipá gba oko wa.
11 You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
Ìwọ fi wá fún jíjẹ bí ẹran àgùntàn, Ìwọ sì ti tú wa ká sí àárín àwọn kèfèrí.
12 You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
Ìwọ ta àwọn ènìyàn rẹ fún owó kékeré, Ìwọ kò sì jẹ èrè kankan lórí iye tí ìwọ tà wọ́n.
13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
Ìwọ sọ wá di ẹni ẹ̀sín ní ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn aládùúgbò wa, ẹlẹ́yà àti ẹni àbùkù sí àwọn tí ó yí wa ká.
14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Ìwọ ti sọ wá di ẹni ìfisọ̀rọ̀ láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè; àwọn ènìyàn ń mi orí wọn sí wa.
15 All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
Ìdójútì mi ń bẹ pẹ̀lú mi ní gbogbo ọjọ́, ìtìjú sì bojú mi mọ́lẹ̀,
16 at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀gàn àti ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn ní ojú àwọn ọ̀tá àti olùgbẹ̀san.
17 All this has come on us, yet we haven’t forgotten you. We haven’t been false to your covenant.
Gbogbo àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí ń ṣẹlẹ̀ sí wa, síbẹ̀ àwa kò gbàgbé rẹ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni a kò ṣèké sí májẹ̀mú rẹ̀.
18 Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
Ọkàn wa kò padà sẹ́yìn; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹsẹ̀ wa kò yẹ̀ kúrò ní ọ̀nà rẹ̀.
19 though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n kọlù wá, ìwọ sì sọ wá di ẹran ọdẹ fún àwọn ẹranko búburú, tí wọn sì fi òkùnkùn biribiri bò wá mọ́lẹ̀.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,
Bí àwa bá ti gbàgbé orúkọ Ọlọ́run wa tàbí tí a na ọwọ́ wa sí ọlọ́run àjèjì.
21 won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
Ǹjẹ́ Ọlọ́run kì yóò rí ìdí rẹ̀, níwọ̀n ìgbà tí ó mọ ohun ìkọ̀kọ̀ inú ọkàn?
22 Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
Síbẹ̀, nítorí rẹ̀ àwa da àyà kọ ikú, ní ojoojúmọ́ a ń kà wá sí bí àgùntàn fún pípa.
23 Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.
Jí, Olúwa! Èéṣe tí ìwọ ń sùn? Dìde fúnra rẹ̀! Má ṣe kọ̀ wá sílẹ̀ láéláé.
24 Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
Èéṣe tí ìwọ ń pa ojú rẹ mọ́ tí ìwọ sì gbàgbé ìpọ́njú àti ìnira wa?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
Nítorí a tẹrí ọkàn wa ba sínú eruku; ara wa sì dì mọ́ erùpẹ̀ ilẹ̀.
26 Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
Dìde kí o sì ràn wá lọ́wọ́; rà wá padà nítorí ìfẹ́ rẹ tí ó dúró ṣinṣin.
