< Proverbs 10 >

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

3 The LORD will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
BAWIPA ni tamikalannaw a pasai teh, tamikathoutnaw ngainae hah a tâkhawng pouh.
4 He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
Pangaknae ni mathoenae a tâco sak teh, hratbatnae ni tawntanae a tâcokhai.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
Kawmpoi tueng navah rawca ka pâkhueng e teh, a lungkaang e capa doeh. Canga lahun nah ka ip e capa teh yeirai ka po sakkung doeh.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Tamikalan lû dawk yawhawinae ao teh, tamikathoutnaw e pahni teh rektapnae hoi akawi.
7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
Tamikalannaw pahnimhoehnae heh yawhawinae lah ao han. Hatei, tamikathoutnaw e min teh a pawk han.
8 The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
Tami lungkaang ni teh kâpoelawknaw a lungthin hoi a dâw, hatei, a lawk kapap e tamipathu teh a rawp han.
9 He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Lannae lahoi ka cet e tami teh karoumcalah a cei, hatei lam longkawi ka dawn e teh panue lah ao han.
10 One who winks with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
Mit cumasipnae ni lungmathoenae a tâco sak, lawk kapap e tamipathu teh a rawk han.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Tamikalan e pahni teh hringnae tuiphuek doeh. Hatei, tami kahawihoehnaw e pahni teh moikainae ni a ramuk.
12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
Hmuhmanae ni kâpohoehnae a tâco sak. Hatei, lungpatawnae niteh, yonnae pueng a ramuk pouh.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
Thaipanueknae ka tawn e pahni dawk lungangnae hah hmu e lah a o, hatei, hemnae bongpai teh thaipanueknae ka tawn hoeh e a hnukthun vah a bo.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
Tami a lungkaangnaw niteh, thoumthainae heh a pâkhueng awh, hatei, tamipathu e pahni niteh, rawknae hah a hnai.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Tami katawntanaw hanelah teh, a tawntanae hah ka cak e khopui lah ao teh, tamimathoenaw rawknae teh, a mathoenae doeh.
16 The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
Tamikalan thaw tawknae ni hringnae a tâcokhai teh, tamikathoutnaw e tawkphu teh, thoe khangnae hah doeh.
17 He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
Cangkhainae ka tarawi e teh, hringnae lamthung dawk ao. Hatei, yuenae ka ek e teh, lamthung ka phen e doeh.
18 He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
Hmuhmanae hah laithoe deinae pahni hoi ka ramuk e tami, ayâ min mathoe nahanelah ka dei e tami teh tamipathu doeh.
19 In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
Lawk pap pawiteh, payon e hai a pap. Hatei, a pahni ka cakuep e tami teh tami a lungkaang e doeh.
20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
Tamikalan e lai teh, kahawi e ngun patetlah ao teh, tamikathout e lungthin teh aphu awm hoeh.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

22 The LORD’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

23 It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.

24 What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
Tamikathout teh a taki e patetlah a lathueng a pha vaiteh, tamikalan teh a ngai e hah poe lah ao han.
25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.
Bongparui a kâkaven toteh, tamikathoutnaw teh a kahma han. Hatei, tamikalan ni teh a yungyoe adu hungnae a tawn.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Tami pangak patoun e teh, misurtui kathut e ni hah a kip sak e hoi, hmaikhu ni mit a ut e patetlah doeh ao.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
Tamikalan ni ngaihawi e teh lunghawinae lah ao, hatei, tamikathout e ngaihawinae teh a kahma han.
29 The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Tamikalan hanelah BAWIPA e lamthung teh thaonae doeh. Hatei, thoenae ka sak e teh, rawkkahmanae koe a pha han.
30 The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
Tamikalan teh hmuen dawk hoi nâtuek hai puen lah awm mahoeh. Hatei, tamikathoutnaw ni talai heh onae lah hno awh mahoeh
31 The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
Tamikalan e pahni ni lungangnae a tâcokhai, hatei ka longkawi e lai teh, tâtueng pouh lah ao han.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
Tamikalan e pahni ni ngai kawi e hno hah a panue, hatei tamikathout e pahni niteh, kâtarannae lawk doeh ouk a dei.
