< Jeremiah 49 >

1 Of the children of Ammon. The LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people dwell in its cities?
Deɛ ɛfa Amonfoɔ ho no nie: Yei ne deɛ Awurade seɛ: “Israel nni mmammarima anaa? Ɔnni wɔn a wɔbɛdi nʼadeɛ? Ɛnneɛ adɛn enti na Molek afa Gad ayɛ ne dea yi? Adɛn enti na ne nkurɔfoɔ tete ne nkuro mu?
2 Therefore behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and it will become a desolate heap, and her daughters will be burned with fire; then Israel will possess those who possessed him,” says the LORD.
Nanso nna no reba,” Awurade na ɔseɛ, “a mɛbobom de afrɛ ɔko atia Raba a ɛwɔ Amonfoɔ; ɛbɛyɛ nkunkumaboɔ sie, wɔbɛto nkuraaseɛ a atwa ne ho ahyia no mu ogya. Na Israel bɛpamo wɔn a wɔpamoo noɔ no,” sei na Awurade seɛ.
3 “Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry, you daughters of Rabbah! Clothe yourself in sackcloth. Lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam will go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
“Twa adwo Ao, Hesbon, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔasɛe Ai! Monteam Ao, mo a mowɔ Raba! Momfira ayitoma na monni awerɛhoɔ; mommɔ nnyenyen wɔ afasuo no mu, ɛfiri sɛ Molek bɛkɔ nnommumfa mu, ɔne nʼasɔfoɔ ne nʼadwumayɛfoɔ.
4 Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? You trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come to me?’
Adɛn enti na wode wo bɔnhwa ahodoɔ hoahoa wo ho? Sɛdeɛ ɛso aba bebree enti anaa? Ao ɔbabaa a ɔnni nokorɛ, wode wo ho to wʼahonya so na woka sɛ, ‘Hwan na ɔbɛto ahyɛ me so?’
5 Behold, I will bring a terror on you,” says the Lord, GOD of Hosts, “from all who are around you. All of you will be driven completely out, and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives.
Mede ehu bɛba wo so; ɛbɛfiri wɔn a wɔatwa wo ho ahyia no nyinaa,” Awurade na ɔseɛ, Asafo Awurade no. “Wɔbɛpam mo nyinaa, na obiara remmoaboa akobɔfoɔ ano.
6 “But afterward I will reverse the captivity of the children of Ammon,” says the LORD.
“Nanso, akyire no, mɛsane de Amonfoɔ adenya ama wɔn,” sei na Awurade seɛ.
7 Of Edom, the LORD of Hosts says: “Is wisdom no more in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished?
Deɛ ɛfa Edom ho no nie: Yei ne deɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ: “Nyansa nni Teman bio anaa? Afutuo ayera wɔ anyansafoɔ mu anaa? Wɔn nyansa no aporɔ anaa?
8 Flee! Turn back! Dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him when I visit him.
Monnane mo ho na monnwane monkɔtetɛ abodan a emu dɔ mu, mo a motete Dedan, ɛfiri sɛ, mede amanehunu bɛba Esau so wɔ ɛberɛ a mɛtwe nʼaso no.
9 If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves came by night, wouldn’t they steal until they had enough?
Sɛ wɔn a wɔtete bobe no baa mo nkyɛn a anka wɔrennya bobe no kakra? Sɛ akorɔmfoɔ baa ɔdasuo mu a, anka wɔrenwia deɛ wɔpɛ nko ara?
10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he will not be able to hide himself. His offspring is destroyed, with his brothers and his neighbors; and he is no more.
11 Leave your fatherless children. I will preserve them alive. Let your widows trust in me.”
‘Monnya mo nwisiaa, na mɛbɔ wɔn nkwa ho ban. Mo akunafoɔ nso bɛtumi de wɔn ho ato me so.’”
12 For the LORD says: “Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup will certainly drink; and are you he who will altogether go unpunished? You won’t go unpunished, but you will surely drink.
Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Sɛ wɔtwe wɔn a wɔmfata sɛ wɔtwe wɔn aso mpo a, ɛnneɛ adɛn enti na ɛnsɛ sɛ wɔtwe mo aso? Wɔbɛtwe mo aso!
13 For I have sworn by myself,” says the LORD, “that Bozrah will become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. All its cities will be perpetual wastes.”
14 I have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “Gather yourselves together! Come against her! Rise up to the battle!”
Mate asɛm a ɛfiri Awurade nkyɛn: wɔsomaa ananmusini bi sɛ ɔnkɔka nkyerɛ amanaman no sɛ, “Mommoaboa mo ho ano nkɔto nhyɛ ne so! Monsɔre nkɔ ɔko!”
15 “For, behold, I have made you small among the nations, and despised among men.
“Na mɛyɛ wo ketewa wɔ amanaman no mu, na wɔabu wo animtia.
16 As for your terror, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill, though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.
Ehu a wobɔ nkurɔfoɔ akoma mu no adaadaa wo, wo a wote abotan ntokuro mu, na wote kokoɔ no sorɔnsorɔmmea. Ɛwom sɛ woyɛ wo pirebuo wɔ soro tɛ sɛ ɔkɔdeɛ deɛ, nanso ɛhɔ na mɛfiri de wo aba fam,” Awurade na ɔseɛ.
17 “Edom will become an astonishment. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will hiss at all its plagues.
“Edom bɛyɛ ahodwiredeɛ; wɔn a wɔtwam hɔ nyinaa ho bɛdwiri wɔn na wɔadi ne ho fɛ ɛsiane nʼapirakuro nyinaa enti.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities,” says the LORD, “no man will dwell there, neither will any son of man live therein.
Sɛdeɛ wɔdanee Sodom ne Gomora ne wɔn nkurotoɔ guiɛ no,” Awurade na ɔseɛ, “saa ara na obiara rentena hɔ; onipa biara rentena mu.
19 “Behold, he will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will suddenly make them run away from it, and whoever is chosen, I will appoint him over it. For who is like me? Who will appoint me a time? Who is the shepherd who will stand before me?”
“Sɛdeɛ gyata firi Yordan nkyɛkyerɛ mu kɔ adidibea frɔmfrɔm no, saa ara na mɛtaa Edom so afiri nʼasase so wɔ ɛberɛ tiawa bi mu. Hwan ne deɛ mayi no sɛ ɔnyɛ yei? Hwan na ɔte sɛ me na hwan na ɔbɛtumi ne me adi asie? Na odwanhwɛfoɔ bɛn na ɔbɛtumi asɔre atia me?”
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Edom, and his purposes that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they will drag them away, the little ones of the flock. Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them.
Enti tie deɛ Awurade ahyehyɛ atia Edom, deɛ wabɔ ne tirim sɛ ɔbɛyɛ de atia wɔn a wɔte Teman nie: Nnwankuo no mu nkumaa no mpo, wɔbɛtwe wɔn akɔ; wɔn enti wɔbɛsɛe adidibea no koraa.
21 The earth trembles at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise which is heard in the Sea of Suf.
Wɔn asehweɛ nnyegyeeɛ bɛma asase awoso; wɔn nteateam bɛgyegye akɔduru Ɛpo Kɔkɔɔ ho.
22 Behold, he will come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah. The heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day will be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Monhwɛ! Ɔkɔdeɛ bi bɛtu akɔ soro na wato hoo aba fam a watrɛtrɛ ne ntaban mu wɔ Bosra so. Saa ɛda no, Edom nnɔmmarima akoma bɛtu sɛ ɔbaa a ɔrekyem wɔ awoɔ so.
23 Of Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad are confounded, for they have heard evil news. They have melted away. There is sorrow on the sea. It can’t be quiet.
Deɛ ɛfa Damasko ho no nie: “Hamat ne Arpad aba mu abu, ɛfiri sɛ wɔate asɛmmɔne. Wɔn akoma aboto te sɛ ɛpo a ɛrehuru soɔ.
24 Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.
Damasko ayɛ mmerɛ, wayɛ sɛ ɔrebɛdwane; wabɔ huboa; ahoyera ne ɔyea akyekyere no, ɔyea a ɛte sɛ ɔbaa a ɔrekyem wɔ awoɔ so deɛ.
25 How is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?
Adɛn enti na wɔnnyaa kuropɔn a agye din yi ntoo hɔ, kuro a mʼani gye muo?
26 Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, and all the men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Ampa ara ne mmeranteɛ bɛhwehwe ase wɔ mmɔntene so; wɔbɛma nʼasraafoɔ nyinaa aka wɔn ano atom saa ɛda no,” sɛi na Asafo Awurade seɛ.
27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.”
“Mede ogya bɛto Damasko afasuo mu; na ɛbɛhye Ben-Hadad aban.”
28 Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck, The LORD says: “Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.
Deɛ ɛfa Kedar ne Hasor ahennie a Babiloniahene Nebukadnessar to hyɛɛ soɔ no nie. Yei ne deɛ Awurade seɛ: “Sɔre na kɔto hyɛ Kedar so na sɛe nnipa a wɔwɔ apueeɛ fam no.
29 They will take their tents and their flocks. they will carry away for themselves their curtains, all their vessels, and their camels; and they will cry to them, ‘Terror on every side!’
Wɔbɛfa wɔn ntomadan ne wɔn nnwankuo; wɔbɛfa wɔn nkatasoɔ, ne wɔn ho nneɛma ne nyoma akɔ. Nnipa bɛteateam sɛ, ‘Ehu wɔ baabiara!’
30 Flee! Wander far off! Dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor,” says the LORD; “for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.
“Monnwane nkɔ ntɛm ntɛm! Monhyehyɛ abodan a emu dɔ mu, mo a motete Hasor,” Awurade na ɔseɛ. “Babiloniahene Nebukadnessar apam mo tiri so; wayɛ nhyehyɛeɛ a ɛtia mo.
31 Arise! Go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care,” says the LORD; “that has neither gates nor bars, that dwells alone.
“Sɔre kɔto hyɛ ɔman bi so a woremmrɛ, ɔman a wɔte ahotosoɔ mu,” Awurade na ɔseɛ, “ɔman a wɔnni apono anaa akwansideɛ, na emu nnipa nko ara na wɔte hɔ.
32 Their camels will be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a plunder. I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them,” says the LORD.
Wɔn mfunumu bɛyɛ afodeɛ, na wɔn anantwikuo akɛseɛ no bɛyɛ asadeɛ. Mɛbɔ saa nnipa a wɔtete akyirikyiri no ahwete ama mframa no, na mede amanehunu bɛfiri afa nyinaa aba wɔn so,” Awurade na ɔseɛ.
33 Hazor will be a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever. No man will dwell there, neither will any son of man live therein.”
“Hasor bɛdane sakraman atuo, ɛbɛda mpan afebɔɔ. Obiara rentena hɔ; onipa biara rentena mu.”
34 The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
Yei ne asɛm a ɛfiri Awurade nkyɛn baa odiyifoɔ Yeremia hɔ a ɛfa Elam ho, wɔ Yudahene Sedekia adedie mfitiaseɛ:
35 “The LORD of Hosts says: ‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
Yei ne deɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ: “Hwɛ, mɛbubu Elam agyan mu, deɛ wɔn ahoɔden gyina soɔ no.
36 I will bring on Elam the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds. There will be no nation where the outcasts of Elam will not come.
Mede mframa ɛnan no bɛba Elam so afiri ɔsorosoro afanan; mɛbɔ wɔn ahwete mframa ɛnan no mu, na Elam atukɔfoɔ akɔ ɔman biara so.
37 I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life. I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger,’ says the LORD; ‘and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.
Mɛbɔ Elam ahwete wɔ wɔn atamfoɔ anim, wɔ wɔn a wɔrepɛ wɔn akum wɔn no anim; mede amanehunu bɛba wɔn so mpo mʼabufuhyeɛ no,” Awurade na ɔseɛ. “Mede akofena bɛtaa wɔn kɔsi sɛ mɛwie wɔn korakora.
38 I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there king and princes,’ says the LORD.
Mɛsi mʼahennwa wɔ Elam na masɛe ne ɔhene ne nʼadwumayɛfoɔ,” Awurade na ɔseɛ.
39 ‘But it will happen in the latter days that I will reverse the captivity of Elam,’ says the LORD.”
“Nanso, mɛsane de Elam adenya ama no nna a ɛreba no mu,” Awurade na ɔseɛ.
