Hebrews 6
1 Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Messiah, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God,
ですから，わたしたちは，キリストについての初歩的な原理は後にして，完成へと押し進むことにし，次のような基礎を再び据えることはやめましょう。すなわち，死んだ業からの悔い改め，神に対する信仰，
2 of the teaching of immersions, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (aiōnios g166)
数々のバプテスマについての教え，手を置くこと，死んだ者たちの復活，そして永遠の裁きなどに関することです。 (aiōnios g166)
3 This will we do, if God permits.
神が許してくださるなら，わたしたちはこのことを行なうでしょう。
4 For concerning those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
というのは，いったん啓発を受け，天からの贈り物を味わい，聖霊にあずかる者となり，
神の良い言葉と来たるべき世の力を味わっておきながら， (aiōn g165)
6 and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and put him to open shame.
その後で離れ落ちる者たちについては，彼らを再び悔い改めに立ち返らせるのは不可能なのです。神の子を自分たちで再びはりつけにして，彼を公の恥辱にさらしているからです。
7 For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it and produces a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God;
というのは，土地が，その上にたびたび降って来る雨を吸い込み，それを耕している人たちに役立つ作物を生み出すなら，神からの祝福を受けますが，
8 but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
イバラやアザミを生じるなら，それは退けられ，のろいに近づいており，その終わりには焼かれてしまいます。
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded of better things for you, and things that accompany salvation, even though we speak like this.
しかし，愛する者たちよ，わたしたちはこのように語ってはいても，あなた方については，もっと良い事柄，また救いに伴う事柄があると確信しています。
10 For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the holy ones, and still do serve them.
というのは，神は不義な方ではないので，あなた方の業や，あなた方が聖徒たちに仕え，また今も仕えていることによってみ名に示した愛の骨折りとを忘れることはされないからです。
11 We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end,
わたしたちは，あなた方ひとりひとりが，終わりに至るまで十分な希望を保つため，その同じ勤勉さを示して欲しいと思います。
12 that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.
それは，あなた方が不活発になったりせず，約束を信仰と忍耐とによって受け継ぐ人たちの模倣者となるためです。
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,
神はアブラハムに約束されたとき，ご自分より偉大な者にかけて誓うことができなかったので，ご自身にかけて誓い，
14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”
「わたしは必ずあなたを祝福し，必ずあなたを殖やすだろう」と言われたのです。
15 Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
こうしてアブラハムは，辛抱強く耐え忍んだのち，約束のものを獲得しました。
16 For men indeed swear by a greater one, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.
というのは，実際，人間たちは自分より偉大な者にかけて誓うのであって，その誓いは確証となってあらゆる論争に決着をつけます。
17 In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath,
このように神は，約束の相続人たちにご自分の考えの不変性をさらに豊かに示そうと決めると，誓いによって介入されたのです。
18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.
それは，自分の前に置かれた希望をつかもうとして避難所に逃れて来たわたしたちが，神が偽ることのできない二つの不変の事柄によって，力強い励ましを得るためでした。
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,
その希望を，わたしたちは魂の錨，確実でしっかりした希望，また垂れ幕の内側に入って行くものとして持っています。
