Colossians 2
1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
あなたがたとラオデキヤの人たちと、そのほか直接私の顔を見たことのない人たちのためにも、私がどんなに苦闘しているか、知ってほしいと思います。
2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Messiah,
それは、この人たちが心に励ましを受け、愛によって結び合わされ、理解をもって豊かな全き確信に達し、神の奥義であるキリストを真に知るようになるためです。
3 in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
このキリストのうちに、知恵と知識との宝がすべて隠されているのです。
4 Now I say this that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.
私がこう言うのは、だれもまことしやかな議論によって、あなたがたをあやまちに導くことのないためです。
5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Messiah.
私は、肉体においては離れていても、霊においてはあなたがたといっしょにいて、あなたがたの秩序とキリストに対する堅い信仰とを見て喜んでいます。
6 As therefore you received Messiah Yeshua the Lord, walk in him,
あなたがたは、このように主キリスト・イエスを受け入れたのですから、彼にあって歩みなさい。
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.
キリストの中に根ざし、また建てられ、また、教えられたとおり信仰を堅くし、あふれるばかり感謝しなさい。
8 Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elemental spirits of the world, and not after Messiah.
あのむなしい、だましごとの哲学によってだれのとりこにもならぬよう、注意しなさい。そのようなものは、人の言い伝えによるものであり、この世に属する幼稚な教えによるものであって、キリストに基づくものではありません。
9 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,
キリストのうちにこそ、神の満ち満ちたご性質が形をとって宿っています。
10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.
そしてあなたがたは、キリストにあって、満ち満ちているのです。キリストはすべての支配と権威のかしらです。
11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Messiah,
キリストにあって、あなたがたは人の手によらない割礼を受けました。肉のからだを脱ぎ捨て、キリストの割礼を受けたのです。
12 having been buried with him in immersion, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
あなたがたは、バプテスマによってキリストとともに葬られ、また、キリストを死者の中からよみがえらせた神の力を信じる信仰によって、キリストとともによみがえらされたのです。
13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
あなたがたは罪によって、また肉の割礼がなくて死んだ者であったのに、神は、そのようなあなたがたを、キリストとともに生かしてくださいました。それは、私たちのすべての罪を赦し、
14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.
いろいろな定めのために私たちに不利な、いや、私たちを責め立てている債務証書を無効にされたからです。神はこの証書を取りのけ、十字架に釘づけにされました。
15 Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
神は、キリストにおいて、すべての支配と権威の武装を解除してさらしものとし、彼らを捕虜として凱旋の行列に加えられました。
16 Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,
こういうわけですから、食べ物と飲み物について、あるいは、祭りや新月や安息日のことについて、だれにもあなたがたを批評させてはなりません。
17 which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Messiah’s.
これらは、次に来るものの影であって、本体はキリストにあるのです。
18 Let no one rob you of your prize by self-abasement and worshiping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
あなたがたは、ことさらに自己卑下をしようとしたり、御使い礼拝をしようとする者に、ほうびをだまし取られてはなりません。彼らは幻を見たことに安住して、肉の思いによっていたずらに誇り、
19 and not holding firmly to the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with God’s growth.
かしらに堅く結びつくことをしません。このかしらがもとになり、からだ全体は、関節と筋によって養われ、結び合わされて、神によって成長させられるのです。
20 If you died with Messiah from the elemental spirits of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances,
もしあなたがたが、キリストとともに死んで、この世の幼稚な教えから離れたのなら、どうして、まだこの世の生き方をしているかのように、
21 “Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch”
「すがるな。味わうな。さわるな。」というような定めに縛られるのですか。
22 (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men?
そのようなものはすべて、用いれば滅びるものについてであって、人間の戒めと教えによるものです。
23 These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
そのようなものは、人間の好き勝手な礼拝とか、謙遜とか、または、肉体の苦行などのゆえに賢いもののように見えますが、肉のほしいままな欲望に対しては、何のききめもないのです。
