1 Samuel 24
1 When Saul had returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi.”
जब शाऊल फिलिस्तीनियों से युद्ध करने के बाद लौटे, उन्हें सूचना दी गई, “दावीद एन-गेदी के निकटवर्ती मरुभूमि में छिपे हुए हैं.”
2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.
शाऊल ने इस्राएली सेना में से तीन हज़ार सर्वोत्तम सैनिक लेकर पहाड़ी बकरों की चट्टानों के पूर्व में दावीद की खोज करनी शुरू कर दी.
3 He came to the sheep pens by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were staying in the innermost parts of the cave.
खोज करते हुए वे सब मार्ग के किनारे स्थित उन भेड़ के बाड़ों के निकट पहुंचे, जिनके निकट एक कंदरा थी. शाऊल उस गुफा के भीतर शौच के लिए चले गए. दावीद और उनके साथी गुफा के भीतरी गुप्त स्थानों में छिपे बैठे थे.
4 David’s men said to him, “Behold, the day of which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.’” Then David arose and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe secretly.
दावीद के साथियों ने उससे कहा, “आज ही वह दिन है, जिसके विषय में याहवेह ने आपसे कहा था, ‘मैं तुम्हारे शत्रु को तुम्हारे अधीन कर दूंगा और तुम उसके साथ वह सब कर सकोगे, जो तुम्हें सही लगेगा.’” यह सुन दावीद उठे और चुपचाप जाकर शाऊल के बाहरी वस्त्र की किनारी काट ली.
5 Afterward, David’s heart struck him because he had cut off Saul’s skirt.
मगर कुछ समय बाद दावीद के मन के दोष भाव ने उन्हें व्याकुल कर दिया,
6 He said to his men, “The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, since he is the LORD’s anointed.”
और उन्होंने अपने साथियों से कहा, “याहवेह यह कभी न होने दें कि मैं याहवेह के अभिषिक्त, मेरे स्वामी पर हाथ उठाने का दुस्साहस करूं, यह जानते हुए भी कि वह याहवेह द्वारा अभिषिक्त हैं.”
7 So David checked his men with these words, and didn’t allow them to rise against Saul. Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
इन शब्दों के द्वारा दावीद ने अपने साथियों को शाऊल पर वार करने से रोक दिया. तब शाऊल उठे, गुफा से बाहर निकलकर अपने मार्ग पर आगे बढ़ गए.
8 David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave and cried after Saul, saying, “My lord the king!” When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and showed respect.
तब दावीद भी गुफा से बाहर आ गए. वहां से उन्होंने शाऊल को पुकारा, “महाराज, मेरे स्वामी!” दावीद का स्वर सुनकर शाऊल ने मुड़कर पीछे देखा. दावीद ने घुटने टेककर भूमि तक सिर झुकाकर उनका अभिवंदन किया,
9 David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to men’s words, saying, ‘Behold, David seeks to harm you’?
और उन्होंने शाऊल को कहा, “महाराज, लोगों की बात का विश्वास क्यों करते हैं, जब वे कहते हैं, ‘दावीद आपके बुरा की युक्ति कर रहा है’?
10 Behold, today your eyes have seen how the LORD had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you. I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s anointed.’
आप स्वयं यह देखिए, आज गुफा में याहवेह ने आपको मेरे हाथों में सौंप दिया था. मेरे कुछ साथी मुझसे कह भी रहे थे कि मैं आपकी हत्या कर दूं, मगर मैंने यह नहीं किया; मैंने विचार किया, ‘मैं अपने स्वामी पर कभी हाथ न उठाऊंगा, क्योंकि उनका अभिषेक याहवेह ने किया है.’
11 Moreover, my father, behold, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe and didn’t kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it.
यह देखिए, मेरे पिताजी, मेरे हाथ में आपके कपड़े का यह छोर है. मैंने इसे तो क़तर लिया है, मगर मैंने आप पर वार नहीं किया. तब आपका यह समझ लेना सही होगा कि मैं न तो किसी बुरे की योजना गढ़ रहा हूं, और न ही किसी विद्रोह की. आपके विरुद्ध मैं कोई पाप नहीं कर रहा हूं, फिर भी आप मेरे रास्ते में आ रहे हैं.
12 May the LORD judge between me and you, and may the LORD avenge me of you; but my hand will not be on you.
स्वयं याहवेह आपके और मेरे बीच निर्णय करें. यह संभव है कि वही आपसे उन कामों के लिए बदला लें, जो आपने मेरे विरुद्ध किए हैं, मगर स्वयं मैं आपकी कोई हानि न करूंगा.
13 As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Out of the wicked comes wickedness;’ but my hand will not be on you.
जैसा पुरानी कहावत है, ‘बुराई करनेवालों से बुरे काम आते हैं!’ तो मेरा हाथ आपको नहीं छुएगा.
14 Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?
“आप ही विचार कीजिए आप कर क्या रहे हैं? इस्राएल का राजा एक मरे हुए कुत्ते का पीछा करने में जुटा है, कि उसकी हत्या कर दे? एक कुत्ता, एक पिस्सू?
15 May the LORD therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.”
तब अब निर्णय याहवेह के द्वारा किया जाए. वही आपके और मेरी स्थिति का आंकलन करें. वही मुझे आपसे सुरक्षा प्रदान करें.”
16 It came to pass, when David had finished speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” Saul lifted up his voice and wept.
जब दावीद शाऊल के सामने अपनी यह बातें समाप्त कर चुके, शाऊल ने प्रश्न किया, “क्या यह तुम्हारा स्वर है, मेरे पुत्र, दावीद?” और तब शाऊल ऊंची आवाज में रोने लगे.
17 He said to David, “You are more righteous than I; for you have done good to me, whereas I have done evil to you.
उन्होंने दावीद से कहा, “तुम मुझसे अधिक धर्मी व्यक्ति हो, क्योंकि तुमने मेरे दुराचार का प्रतिफल सदाचार में दिया, जबकि मैंने सदैव तुम्हारा बुरा ही करना चाहा है.
18 You have declared today how you have dealt well with me, because when the LORD had delivered me up into your hand, you didn’t kill me.
आज तो तुमने यह घोषणा ही कर दी है कि तुमने सदैव ही मेरे हित की ही कामना की है. याहवेह ने मुझे तुम्हारे हाथों में सौंप ही दिया था, फिर भी तुमने मेरी हत्या नहीं की.
19 For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may the LORD reward you good for that which you have done to me today.
क्या कभी ऐसा सुना गया है कि कोई व्यक्ति अपने हाथों में आए शत्रु को सुरक्षित छोड़ दे? आज तुमने मेरे साथ जो उदारतापूर्ण अभिवृत्ति प्रदर्शित की है, उसके लिए याहवेह तुम्हें भला करें.
20 Now, behold, I know that you will surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.
अब सुनो: मुझे यह पता हो गया है कि निश्चित राजा तुम ही बनोगे, और इस्राएल का राज्य तुम्हारे शासन में प्रतिष्ठित हो जाएगा.
21 Swear now therefore to me by the LORD that you will not cut off my offspring after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father’s house.”
तब यहां याहवेह के सामने शपथ लो, कि मेरी मृत्यु के बाद तुम मेरे वंशजों को नहीं मिटाओगे और न ही मेरे नाम को और न मेरे पिता के परिवार की प्रतिष्ठा नष्ट करोगे.”
22 David swore to Saul. Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
दावीद ने शाऊल से इसकी शपथ खाई. इसके बाद शाऊल अपने घर लौट गए और दावीद और उनके साथी अपने गढ़ में.
