1 Corinthians 8
1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Empero en cuanto a lo que a los ídolos es sacrificado, sabemos que todos tenemos ciencia. La ciencia hincha, mas la caridad edifica.
2 But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.
Y si alguno se piensa que sabe algo, aun no sabe cosa alguna como le conviene saber.
3 But anyone who loves God is known by him.
Mas el que ama a Dios, el tal es conocido de Dios.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
Así que de las viandas que son sacrificadas a los ídolos, sabemos que el ídolo nada es en el mundo, y que no hay otro Dios, sino solo uno.
5 For though there are things that are called “gods”, whether in the heavens or on earth—as there are many “gods” and many “lords”—
Porque aunque haya algunos que se llamen dioses, o en el cielo, o en la tierra, (como hay muchos dioses, y muchos señores, )
6 yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Yeshua the Messiah, through whom are all things, and we live through him.
Para nosotros empero hay un solo Dios, el Padre, del cual son todas las cosas, y nosotros en él; y un Señor, Jesu Cristo, por el cual son todas las cosas, y nosotros por él.
7 However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of an idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
Mas no en todos hay esta ciencia; porque algunos con conciencia del ídolo hasta ahora, lo comen como sacrificado a ídolos; y su conciencia, siendo flaca, es contaminada.
8 But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat are we the worse, nor if we eat are we the better.
Empero la vianda no nos hace mas aceptos a Dios; porque ni que comamos, seremos más ricos: ni que no comamos, seremos más pobres.
9 But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.
Mas mirád que esta vuestra libertad no sea de algún modo tropezadero para los que son flacos.
10 For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
Porque si te ve alguno, a ti que tienes esta ciencia, que estás sentado a la mesa en el lugar de los ídolos, ¿la conciencia de aquel que es flaco, no será edificada para comer de lo sacrificado a los ídolos?
11 And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Messiah died.
¿Y por tu ciencia se perderá el hermano flaco, por el cual Cristo murió?
12 Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Messiah.
De esta manera, pues, pecando contra los hermanos, e hiriendo su flaca conciencia, contra Cristo pecáis.
