< Psalms 44 >

1 For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm. We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
Katoeng kruek zaehoikung hanah, Korah caanawk ih Maskil. Aw Sithaw, naa hoi ka thaih o boeh; canghnii ah, nang mah nihcae khaeah na sak pae ih tok to, kam panawk mah ang thuih o boeh.
2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk loe na ban hoiah na haek moe, kam panawk hanah to ahmuen to na paek; to kaminawk to na pacaekthlaek moe, kam panawk to na loisak.
3 For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favourable to them.
Nihcae mah to prae to sumsen hoiah pazawk o ai, angmacae bantha hoiah doeh pazawk o ai: toe nihcae to na palung pongah na bantang ban, na ban hoi na mikhmai aanghaih hoiah ni na pahlong.
4 God, you are my King. Command victories for Jacob!
5 Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
Nang rang hoiah ka misanawk to hnuk kang nawn o sak moe, nangmah ih ahmin hoiah nihcae to ka tit o han.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
Kaimah ih kalii hae kang oep haih mak ai, ka sumsen mah doeh na pahlong mak ai.
7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
Toe kai hnuma kaminawk to na zatsak moe, kaicae to misanawk ban thung hoiah nang pahlong.
8 In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. (Selah)
Kaicae loe athun qui Sithaw ah ni kam oek o, na hmin to dungzan khoek to ka saphaw o. (Selah)
9 But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonour, and don’t go out with our armies.
Toe vaihi loe nang pahnawt sut boeh moe, azat nang pawsak boeh; kaicae ih misatuh kaminawk hoi doeh nawnto na caeh ai boeh.
10 You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
Kaicae hae misa khae hoiah nam laemsak let: kaicae hnuma kaminawk loe angmacae koeh ah amro o.
11 You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us amongst the nations.
Moicaak han suek ih tuu baktiah nang prawt sut boeh moe, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah nang haehsak phang.
12 You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
Nangmah ih kaminawk to atho kazoi ah na zawh, toe nihcae zawhhaih atho mah nang ih hmuenmae to pung kue mak ai.
13 You make us a reproach to our neighbours, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
14 You make us a byword amongst the nations, a shaking of the head amongst the peoples.
Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah patahhaih lok ah na thuih moe, minawk salakah lu haek thuih hanah nang sak.
15 All day long my dishonour is before me, and shame covers my face,
16 at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
kasaethuih koeh kami hoi ahmin setsak koeh kami, lulak koeh kami hoi misanawk pongah ni, to tiah ka oh.
17 All this has come on us, yet we haven’t forgotten you. We haven’t been false to your covenant.
18 Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
Kaicae ih palungthin loe hnuk bangah amlaem ai moe, kaicae ih khoknawk doeh na loklam hoiah amkhraeng ai;
19 though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
toe tasuinawk ohhaih salakah nang tit moe, duekhaih tahlip hoiah nang kraeng khoep.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,
Kaicae mah Sithaw ih ahmin ka pahnet o moe, prae kalah sithaw khaeah ban ka payangh o cadoeh,
21 won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
Sithaw loe palung thungah tamquta hoi poek ih hmuen to panoek pongah anih mah hnu mak ai maw?
22 Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.
Aw Angraeng, anglawt lai ah, tipongah na iih loe? Angthawk ah, kaicae hae dungzan khoek to na haek hmah.
24 Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
Tipongah mikhmai na hawk ving moe, kaicae raihaih hoi patangkhanghaih to nang pahnet pae ving loe?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
Kaicae hinghaih loe maiphu thungah krak tathuk boeh moe, kaicae ih zok doeh long ah angbet caeng boeh.
26 Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
Kaicae abomh han angthawk ah loe, na palungnathaih hoiah kaicae hae na krang ah.
