Psalms 40
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. I waited patiently for the LORD. He turned to me, and heard my cry.
Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm Davids. Beharrlich habe ich auf den HERRN geharrt, da neigte er sein Ohr zu mir und erhörte mein Schreien
2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.
und zog mich aus der Grube des Verderbens, aus dem schmutzigen Schlamm, und stellte meine Füße auf einen Fels, machte meine Schritte gewiß
3 He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
und gab mir ein neues Lied in meinen Mund, ein Lob für unsern Gott; das werden viele sehen und den HERRN fürchten und ihm vertrauen.
4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, and doesn’t respect the proud, nor such as turn away to lies.
Wohl dem Manne, der sein Vertrauen auf den HERRN setzt und sich nicht wendet zu denen, die aufgeblasen sind und gern täuschen.
5 Many, LORD, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are towards us. They can’t be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be counted.
HERR, mein Gott, groß sind die Wunder, die du getan, und die Pläne, die du für uns gemacht; dir ist nichts gleich! Ich wollte sie verkündigen und davon sagen; Aber sie sind nicht zu zählen.
6 Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire. You have opened my ears. You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
Opfer und Gaben begehrst du nicht; die Ohren hast du mir aufgetan; Brandopfer und Sündopfer hast du nicht verlangt.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.
Da sprach ich: Siehe, ich bin gekommen, in der Buchrolle steht von mir geschrieben;
8 I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your Torah is within my heart.”
deinen Willen zu tun, mein Gott, begehre ich, und dein Gesetz ist in meinem Herzen.
9 I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know.
Ich habe Gerechtigkeit als Frohbotschaft verkündigt in der großen Gemeinde; siehe, ich will meine Lippen nicht verschließen, HERR, das weißt du!
10 I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly.
Deine Gerechtigkeit verbarg ich nicht in meinem Herzen; von deiner Wahrheit und von deinem Heil redete ich; ich verhehlte deine Gnade und Wahrheit der großen Gemeinde nicht.
11 Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, LORD. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
Du, HERR, wollest dein Herz nicht vor mir verschließen; deine Gnade und Wahrheit mögen mich allezeit behüten!
12 For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.
Denn es haben mich umringt Übel ohne Zahl, meine Sünden haben mich ergriffen, daß ich nicht sehen kann; sie sind zahlreicher als die Haare meines Hauptes, und mein Mut hat mich verlassen.
13 Be pleased, LORD, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, LORD.
HERR, laß dir's gefallen, mich zu retten; HERR, eile mir zu Hilfe!
14 Let them be disappointed and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonour who delight in my hurt.
Es sollen sich schämen und schamrot werden allzumal, die mir nach dem Leben trachten; es sollen zurückweichen und zuschanden werden, die mein Unglück suchen!
15 Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that tell me, “Aha! Aha!”
Erstaunen sollen ob ihrer eigenen Schmach, die zu mir sagten: Ha, ha!
16 Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, “Let the LORD be exalted!”
Es sollen fröhlich sein und sich freuen an dir alle, die dich suchen; die dein Heil lieben, sollen immerdar sagen: Der HERR ist groß!
17 But I am poor and needy. May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don’t delay, my God.
Bin ich auch elend und arm, für mich sorgt der Herr. Du bist meine Hilfe und mein Erretter; mein Gott, verziehe nicht!
