Matthew 23
1 Then Yeshua spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,
அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு² ர்ஜநநிவஹம்’ ஸி²ஷ்யாம்’ஸ்²சாவத³த்,
2 saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat.
அத்⁴யாபகா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச மூஸாஸநே உபவிஸ²ந்தி,
3 All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.
அதஸ்தே யுஷ்மாந் யத்³யத் மந்தும் ஆஜ்ஞாபயந்தி, தத் மந்யத்⁴வம்’ பாலயத்⁴வஞ்ச, கிந்து தேஷாம்’ கர்ம்மாநுரூபம்’ கர்ம்ம ந குருத்⁴வம்’; யதஸ்தேஷாம்’ வாக்யமாத்ரம்’ ஸாரம்’ கார்ய்யே கிமபி நாஸ்தி|
4 For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.
தே து³ர்வ்வஹாந் கு³ருதராந் பா⁴ராந் ப³த்³வ்வா மநுஷ்யாணாம்’ ஸ்கந்தே⁴பரி ஸமர்பயந்தி, கிந்து ஸ்வயமங்கு³ல்யைகயாபி ந சாலயந்தி|
5 But they do all their works to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
கேவலம்’ லோகத³ர்ஸ²நாய ஸர்வ்வகர்ம்மாணி குர்வ்வந்தி; ப²லத: பட்டப³ந்தா⁴ந் ப்ரஸார்ய்ய தா⁴ரயந்தி, ஸ்வவஸ்த்ரேஷு ச தீ³ர்க⁴க்³ரந்தீ²ந் தா⁴ரயந்தி;
6 and love the place of honour at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,
போ⁴ஜநப⁴வந உச்சஸ்தா²நம்’, ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநே ப்ரதா⁴நமாஸநம்’,
7 the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.
ஹட்டே² நமஸ்காரம்’ கு³ருரிதி ஸம்போ³த⁴நஞ்சைதாநி ஸர்வ்வாணி வாஞ்ச²ந்தி|
8 But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your Rabbi, the Messiah, and all of you are brothers.
கிந்து யூயம்’ கு³ரவ இதி ஸம்போ³த⁴நீயா மா ப⁴வத, யதோ யுஷ்மாகம் ஏக: க்²ரீஷ்டஏவ கு³ரு
9 Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
ர்யூயம்’ ஸர்வ்வே மிதோ² ப்⁴ராதரஸ்²ச| புந: ப்ரு’தி²வ்யாம்’ கமபி பிதேதி மா ஸம்பு³த்⁴யத்⁴வம்’, யதோ யுஷ்மாகமேக: ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்த²ஏவ பிதா|
10 Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Messiah.
யூயம்’ நாயகேதி ஸம்பா⁴ஷிதா மா ப⁴வத, யதோ யுஷ்மாகமேக: க்²ரீஷ்டஏவ நாயக: |
11 But he who is greatest amongst you will be your servant.
அபரம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யே ய: புமாந் ஸ்²ரேஷ்ட²: ஸ யுஷ்மாந் ஸேவிஷ்யதே|
12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
யதோ ய: ஸ்வமுந்நமதி, ஸ நத: கரிஷ்யதே; கிந்து ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வமவநதம்’ கரோதி, ஸ உந்நத: கரிஷ்யதே|
13 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretence you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
ஹந்த கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயம்’ மநுஜாநாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ ஸ்வர்க³த்³வாரம்’ ருந்த⁴, யூயம்’ ஸ்வயம்’ தேந ந ப்ரவிஸ²த², ப்ரவிவிக்ஷூநபி வாரயத²| வத கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச யூயம்’ ச²லாத்³ தீ³ர்க⁴ம்’ ப்ரார்த்²ய வித⁴வாநாம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்வம்’ க்³ரஸத², யுஷ்மாகம்’ கோ⁴ரதரத³ண்டோ³ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
14 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.
ஹந்த கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயமேகம்’ ஸ்வத⁴ர்ம்மாவலம்பி³நம்’ கர்த்தும்’ ஸாக³ரம்’ பூ⁴மண்ட³லஞ்ச ப்ரத³க்ஷிணீகுருத²,
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of Gehinnom as yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
கஞ்சந ப்ராப்ய ஸ்வதோ த்³விகு³ணநரகபா⁴ஜநம்’ தம்’ குருத²| (Geenna g1067)
16 “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
வத அந்த⁴பத²த³ர்ஸ²கா: ஸர்வ்வே, யூயம்’ வத³த², மந்தி³ரஸ்ய ஸ²பத²கரணாத் கிமபி ந தே³யம்’; கிந்து மந்தி³ரஸ்த²ஸுவர்ணஸ்ய ஸ²பத²கரணாத்³ தே³யம்’|
17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
ஹே மூடா⁴ ஹே அந்தா⁴: ஸுவர்ணம்’ தத்ஸுவர்ணபாவகமந்தி³ரம் ஏதயோருப⁴யோ ர்மத்⁴யே கிம்’ ஸ்²ரேய: ?
18 And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated.’
அந்யச்ச வத³த², யஜ்ஞவேத்³யா: ஸ²பத²கரணாத் கிமபி ந தே³யம்’, கிந்து தது³பரிஸ்தி²தஸ்ய நைவேத்³யஸ்ய ஸ²பத²கரணாத்³ தே³யம்’|
19 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
ஹே மூடா⁴ ஹே அந்தா⁴: , நைவேத்³யம்’ தந்நைவேத்³யபாவகவேதி³ரேதயோருப⁴யோ ர்மத்⁴யே கிம்’ ஸ்²ரேய: ?
20 He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it and by everything on it.
அத: கேநசித்³ யஜ்ஞவேத்³யா: ஸ²பதே² க்ரு’தே தது³பரிஸ்த²ஸ்ய ஸர்வ்வஸ்ய ஸ²பத²: க்ரியதே|
21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who has been living in it.
கேநசித் மந்தி³ரஸ்ய ஸ²பதே² க்ரு’தே மந்தி³ரதந்நிவாஸிநோ: ஸ²பத²: க்ரியதே|
22 He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by him who sits on it.
கேநசித் ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்ய ஸ²பதே² க்ரு’தே ஈஸ்²வரீயஸிம்’ஹாஸநதது³பர்ய்யுபவிஷ்டயோ: ஸ²பத²: க்ரியதே|
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the Torah: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
ஹந்த கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயம்’ போதி³நாயா: ஸிதச்ச²த்ராயா ஜீரகஸ்ய ச த³ஸ²மாம்’ஸா²ந் த³த்த², கிந்து வ்யவஸ்தா²யா கு³ருதராந் ந்யாயத³யாவிஸ்²வாஸாந் பரித்யஜத²; இமே யுஷ்மாபி⁴ராசரணீயா அமீ ச ந லம்’க⁴நீயா: |
24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
ஹே அந்த⁴பத²த³ர்ஸ²கா யூயம்’ மஸ²காந் அபஸாரயத², கிந்து மஹாங்கா³ந் க்³ரஸத²|
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
ஹந்த கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயம்’ பாநபாத்ராணாம்’ போ⁴ஜநபாத்ராணாஞ்ச ப³ஹி: பரிஷ்குருத²; கிந்து தத³ப்⁴யந்தரம்’ து³ராத்மதயா கலுஷேண ச பரிபூர்ணமாஸ்தே|
26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
ஹே அந்தா⁴: பி²ரூஸி²லோகா ஆதௌ³ பாநபாத்ராணாம்’ போ⁴ஜநபாத்ராணாஞ்சாப்⁴யந்தரம்’ பரிஷ்குருத, தேந தேஷாம்’ ப³ஹிரபி பரிஷ்காரிஷ்யதே|
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness.
ஹந்த கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயம்’ ஸு²க்லீக்ரு’தஸ்²மஸா²நஸ்வரூபா ப⁴வத², யதா² ஸ்²மஸா²நப⁴வநஸ்ய ப³ஹிஸ்²சாரு, கிந்த்வப்⁴யந்தரம்’ ம்ரு’தலோகாநாம்’ கீகஸை²: ஸர்வ்வப்ரகாரமலேந ச பரிபூர்ணம்;
28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
ததை²வ யூயமபி லோகாநாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ ப³ஹிர்தா⁴ர்ம்மிகா: கிந்த்வந்த: கரணேஷு கேவலகாபட்யாத⁴ர்ம்மாப்⁴யாம்’ பரிபூர்ணா: |
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
ஹா ஹா கபடிந உபாத்⁴யாயா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச, யூயம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நாம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நகே³ஹம்’ நிர்ம்மாத², ஸாதூ⁴நாம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நநிகேதநம்’ ஸோ²ப⁴யத²
30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
வத³த² ச யதி³ வயம்’ ஸ்வேஷாம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷாணாம்’ கால அஸ்தா²ஸ்யாம, தர்ஹி ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நாம்’ ஸோ²ணிதபாதநே தேஷாம்’ ஸஹபா⁴கி³நோ நாப⁴விஷ்யாம|
31 Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
அதோ யூயம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³கா⁴தகாநாம்’ ஸந்தாநா இதி ஸ்வயமேவ ஸ்வேஷாம்’ ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³த்த²|
32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
அதோ யூயம்’ நிஜபூர்வ்வபுருஷாணாம்’ பரிமாணபாத்ரம்’ பரிபூரயத|
33 You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgement of Gehinnom? (Geenna g1067)
ரே பு⁴ஜகா³: க்ரு’ஷ்ணபு⁴ஜக³வம்’ஸா²: , யூயம்’ கத²ம்’ நரகத³ண்டா³த்³ ரக்ஷிஷ்யத்⁴வே| (Geenna g1067)
34 Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,
பஸ்²யத, யுஷ்மாகமந்திகம் அஹம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோ பு³த்³தி⁴மத உபாத்⁴யாயாம்’ஸ்²ச ப்ரேஷயிஷ்யாமி, கிந்து தேஷாம்’ கதிபயா யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்கா⁴நிஷ்யந்தே, க்ருஸே² ச கா⁴நிஷ்யந்தே, கேசித்³ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநே கஷாபி⁴ராகா⁴நிஷ்யந்தே, நக³ரே நக³ரே தாடி³ஷ்யந்தே ச;
35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.
தேந ஸத்புருஷஸ்ய ஹாபி³லோ ரக்தபாதமாரப்⁴ய பே³ரிகி²ய: புத்ரம்’ யம்’ ஸிக²ரியம்’ யூயம்’ மந்தி³ரயஜ்ஞவேத்³யோ ர்மத்⁴யே ஹதவந்த: , ததீ³யஸோ²ணிதபாதம்’ யாவத்³ அஸ்மிந் தே³ஸே² யாவதாம்’ ஸாது⁴புருஷாணாம்’ ஸோ²ணிதபாதோ (அ)ப⁴வத் தத் ஸர்வ்வேஷாமாக³ஸாம்’ த³ண்டா³ யுஷ்மாஸு வர்த்திஷ்யந்தே|
36 Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந்த தத்²யம்’ வதா³மி, வித்³யமாநே(அ)ஸ்மிந் புருஷே ஸர்வ்வே வர்த்திஷ்யந்தே|
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
ஹே யிரூஸா²லம் ஹே யிரூஸா²லம் நக³ரி த்வம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோ ஹதவதீ, தவ ஸமீபம்’ ப்ரேரிதாம்’ஸ்²ச பாஷாணைராஹதவதீ, யதா² குக்குடீ ஸா²வகாந் பக்ஷாத⁴: ஸம்’க்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி, ததா² தவ ஸந்தாநாந் ஸம்’க்³ரஹீதும்’ அஹம்’ ப³ஹுவாரம் ஐச்ச²ம்’; கிந்து த்வம்’ ந ஸமமந்யதா²: |
38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
பஸ்²யத யஷ்மாகம்’ வாஸஸ்தா²நம் உச்சி²ந்நம்’ த்யக்ஷ்யதே|
39 For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் தத்²யம்’ வதா³மி, ய: பரமேஸ்²வரஸ்ய நாம்நாக³ச்ச²தி, ஸ த⁴ந்ய இதி வாணீம்’ யாவந்ந வதி³ஷ்யத², தாவத் மாம்’ புந ர்ந த்³ரக்ஷ்யத²|
